The Western Isles is a region with a broad, complex and active role-play environment, which is centred on our map. To help you get acquainted and to keep you informed about the happenings of TWI, there are a number of resources created and updated for the benefit of map nations. This - the RP directory - is one of those resources and was an excellent dispatch run by

Ostehaar for much longer than I have administered it, and by

Ainslie for almost as long.

This dispatch lists active RPs, international organizations and collaboration threads that you may want to take a look at. Whilst I’ll keep an eye out for new threads, you can help me by letting me know about new RPs as they're opened and about changes to ongoing RPs. Please do so via TG or by tagging me in the RMB post in which you announce or publish your RP (make sure to include a link to the IC and OOC threads). These are threads that typically are restricted to members of The Western Isles so if you are not on the map yet or not in The Western Isles contact the RP manager/OP before you write anything in either the OOC or IC threads.

Key:
The terms below indicate the status conditions of different roleplays (RPs) in the region.
'Planning' - RPs that are not fully active yet or require constant coordination, and are still being discussed in the OOC thread. You may freely join the discussion.
'Open' - RPs that require no formal application, and usually have no OOC thread. You are free to post in these RPs, but it is still recommended to inform the OP of your participation before doing so by telegram.
'Semi-Open' - RPs that are open to all players but require application or some form of initial coordination with the OP. All communication should occur in the OOC thread that is relevant to the RP. You should only telegram the OP if you need clarification on a specific fact as you are writing an in-character post. Otherwise, all communication should happen on the out of character thread.
'Closed' - RPs that are open to some players, as indicated by the OP or in the OOC thread. Never post in these IC threads of these roleplays without specific permission from the OP. You may freely post in the OOC thread.

The International District [OOC] thread is an out-of-character hub for TWI roleplay collaboration, in addition to the Regional Message Board and Discord chat It is also a place where new members can introduce their nations to the region and seek out roleplaying and nationbuilding opportunities.

The Bold Territories - Progression thread is an out-of-character thread originally launched to discuss and reimagine TWI’s bold territories for the first time since they were originally developed. Though semi-dormant now, it remains as a hub for on-site bold territory development before their introduction to the TWI map.

The in-character world of The Western Isles wouldn’t be complete in the modern day without the sounding-board of nations; enter the League. Another major diplomatic thread, the League is modeled loosely on both the League of Nations and the United Nations as a forum and international organization tasked with working towards international peace, a community of nations, and multinational development.

A central roleplay thread, Citizens of the Isles is geared towards more individual stories of the people who live everyday lives in The Western Isles roleplay world. Home to some of our region’s most impressive single-post and short-term RPs, ‘Citizens’ allows members to indulge in personal in-character stories without needing a Maintenance Thread or another dedicated roleplay thread.

The in-character companion to the International District [OOC] thread, the International District [IC] thread is meant to be a first point of introduction to The Western Isles from the perspective of key members of governments and societies. It is also used for general diplomatic roleplay and has previously hosted The Western Isles Gala, where international leaders and high society mix.
