Culture of Liberal Malaysia

Old Malaysian culture was, until very recently, primarily influenced by the cultures of the formerly majority-ethnic Malays and Muslims of West Liberal Malaysia, the formerly headhunting Dayaks of Sarawak, and the Kadazandusuns of North Borneo. The Liberal Malaysian Chinese and Liberal Malaysian Indian communities also left a significant imprint on old Malaysian society. The indigenous Orang Asli of West Liberal Malaysia were sidelined altogether for racist and bigoted reasons by Malay-Muslim racists and fascists.

Nowadays, with the recent massive influx of tens of millions of immigrants from the United States and Canada who now make up more than half the country’s population, Liberal Malaysia is now just as culturally American and Western as Hawai’i. It is an outpost of Western, Anglophone civilization in the Asia-Pacific together with Australia and New Zealand. It is also the world's only self-declared non-Muslim nation-state where Islam is rightly viewed with deep suspicion.

The recent influx of political refugees from Hong Kong has also left a significant mark on Liberal Malaysian society, particularly via the replacement of Mandarin with Cantonese as the lingua franca of the Liberal Malaysian Chinese, the replacement of simplified Chinese characters with their traditional counterparts (in line with Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan, but not with Mainland China or Singapore), as well as the emergence of a Hong Kong-derived culinary scene that is truly the envy of the world.

Freedom, democracy, secularism, and the rule of law are cherished very deeply in Liberal Malaysia, particularly among the now naturalized Hong Kong refugee population and their descendants, and any attempt to undermine those freedoms is typically met with instant suspicion, particularly if it is done on behalf of a foreign communist dictatorship or by far-right, homegrown Malay supremacists and Islamist fascists. The right to protest and police accountability are widely cherished. These liberal, democratic values have been reinforced further by the influx of tens of millions of American and Canadian immigrants who now outnumber everyone else in the country.

De-Islamization and secularization

A policy of total de-Islamization and secularization is currently in effect. Most Liberal Malaysians, particularly those of American immigrant descent, are overwhelmingly supportive of measures to eliminate sharia and other authoritarian and discriminatory Islamic influences from public life.

Most Malays and Muslims who have opted to remain in Liberal Malaysia are resigned to this fact, cognizant of the fact that previous attempts to challenge this new secular order via rioting, pogroms and terrorism were decisively put down with the aid of the U.S. armed forces with bloody results. Many Malays and Muslims have renounced their faith while many others have opted to emigrate, mainly to Muslim-majority Indonesia where their bigoted religious views enjoy more widespread acceptance and where the national language is the same as their native language. Support for radical Islam has dwindled from half the population in 2022 to less than 1% today, and no longer poses a meaningful threat to national unity, democracy, and basic human rights and decency in Liberal Malaysia.

LGBT+ pride parades are held every single year in every major city in the country in order to celebrate LGBT+ people and stick the middle finger up to all those Islamist fascists who have persecuted them for centuries. Successful, trans businesswoman Nur Sajat is now the Secretary of Equality, having been welcomed back from exile in Australia. Atheists have also held similar pride parades celebrating their right to exist and upholding freedom of belief in Liberal Malaysia.

The burka and other full-face coverings are banned for security reasons, especially at airports, meaning that Arab Muslim husbands who visit Liberal Malaysia on a tourist visa are unable to humiliate their subservient wives at Alvinsbrook International Airport (AIA, formerly KLIA) by forcing them to cover up. Liberal Malaysia has strict laws against forcing a spouse to cover their body against their will and they are strictly enforced as a means of combating domestic violence and abuse. It is simply heartbreaking knowing that these burka-clad women and their children have to put up with such misogynistic abuse in their own homes in their own countries every single day they remain trapped in these kinds of non-consensual relationships.

Their conservatively-dressed husbands never fail to give off an unmistakably chauvinistic vibe that says “I own you bitch”, based on what one has seen with one’s own eyes at AIA, seeing the nasty expressions on their faces and the petrified looks in their wives’ eyes behind the slits. This kind of individual would have great difficulty even setting foot in Liberal Malaysia nowadays due to a policy of ideological exclusion whereby persons who hold views incompatible with that of Liberal Malaysia are turned away at ports of entry and barred from entering (sometimes for life).

Arab Muslim women who wear full-face coverings at the airport are required to remove them in the presence of a female airport security officer for identification purposes. No ifs. No buts. No “but it’s racist and Islamophobic!!!”. Just f*cking do it already and stop wasting everyone else’s time. Muslims get no preferential treatment in Liberal Malaysia and everyone is treated equally, not “equitably”, on the basis of race and religion (or lack thereof).

Traditional Malay culture devoid of foreign, Arab-Islamic, Wahhabi, and Salafi influence is undergoing something of a renaissance due to widespread promotion by the state as well as a growing public rejection of Islam and religious extremism. The moderate Islam that was practiced back in the 1960s prior to the Yom Kippur War, the OPEC oil embargo, and the rise of an Islamist fascist regime in Iran is also enjoying a revival in conjunction with traditional Malay culture and customs. Malays and Muslims are strongly encouraged to assimilate into mainstream Liberal Malaysian society by drinking alcohol, consuming pork, and dressing normally like everyone else. They are also encouraged, through a series of economic incentives, to renounce their Islamic faith while retaining their Malay language and customs.

As American and Canadian immigrants and their descendants now outnumber other Liberal Malaysians, Liberal Malaysians who were born and raised in old Malaysia, particularly the now-dwindling-minority of Malays and Muslims, are expected to assimilate into a new, heavily Americanized, melting pot society. Relations between Malays and Muslims and their non-Malay and non-Muslim counterparts are expected to improve over time as they have done in neighboring Singapore, thereby realizing Lee Kuan Yew’s dream of a Malaysian Malaysia more than 70 years later. The newly-unified, non-racist and very secular education system, which children of all races, faiths, and backgrounds are expected to attend, will play a pivotal role in transforming Liberal Malaysia from a Third World cultural backwater into a First World, Western, English-speaking, non-Muslim-majority society modeled on the United States and Canada with some cultural input from Europe and Asia.

Hongkongization and anti-China sentiment

Many Liberal Malaysian Chinese whose deep-seated hatred of Malay supremacy and radical Islamic fascism once blinded them to the evils and predatory nature of the Chinese Communist Party to the point that they took to bashing and advocating for overwhelming police violence and brutality to be meted out against pro-democracy protesters fighting for their basic freedoms in Hong Kong back in 2019 have either been roundly shamed by their peers or have otherwise had their eyes opened by the millions of political refugees who fled Hong Kong in recent years and have been telling their harrowing stories to all and sundry who might be willing to listen.

As such, a growing number of Liberal Malaysian Chinese, particularly those of Hong Kong descent, have developed a deep-seated suspicion of China and have now taken to boycotting any product, service, company, or individual, whether Mainland Chinese or Liberal Malaysian, with ties to the PRC due to well-founded fears of communist infiltration and subversion of every aspect of Liberal Malaysian society, democracy, government, and institutions via the dreaded United Front Works initiative that succeeded in completely annihilating Hong Kong’s freedoms and way of life many years ago, the very reason for the Hong Kong refugee presence in Liberal Malaysia in the first place.

Cantonese has now begun to supplant Mandarin as the “stepmother” tongue of many Liberal Malaysian Chinese while traditional Chinese characters, the dominant writing system in Hong Kong and Taiwan, have begun to supplant simplified Chinese characters, traditionally used in old Malaysia, Singapore, and Mainland China. In addition, the correct dialect and accent of Hong Kong Cantonese has begun to replace the phony Malaysian Cantonese dialects and accents of Klang Valley and Ipoh, particularly in the pronunciation of English loanwords, considered a dead giveaway. Such loanwords are now either pronounced with a typical Hong Kong Cantonese accent or, increasingly, with a more Americanized and nativized Liberal Malaysian accent.

Cuisine

Liberal Malaysia’s cuisine consists of an eclectic mix of American, Malay, Dayak, Kadazan, Orang Asli, Chinese, Hong Kong, and Indian food. Nasi goreng (Malaysian-style fried rice) is Liberal Malaysia’s national dish, replacing nasi lemak. Well-known regional delicacies include Penang char kway teow and Sarawak laksa. Liberal Malaysians often dine at regionally-flavored coffee shops known variously as kopitiams or cha chaan tengs depending on the shop owner’s national or ethnic origins as well as the type of food on offer.

There has also been a relatively recent, wholesale relocation of the entirety of Hong Kong’s culinary delights to Liberal Malaysia due to the massive influx of Hong Kong refugees fleeing communist political persecution, thereby negating one’s need to ever visit Hong Kong and allowing one to sever one’s emotional ties to that undead, communist hunk of volcanic rock for good. Immigrants and expats from around the world such as Italians, Japanese, Koreans, Britons, French, Germans, and other nationalities have brought their own delicacies with them to Malaysia, resulting in a cosmopolitan fusion consisting only of the best of the best of the best. The whole world is jealous of what Liberal Malaysia has to offer in terms of yum.

Media

Freedom of the press is a constitutionally-guaranteed right and independent media outlets such as LiberalMalaysiakini and Sarawak Report are now able to thrive freely and independently, although their influence has diminished considerably due to the proliferation of numerous other equally independent media outlets. Comedians are now able to tell politically incorrect jokes without fear of being arrested for “sedition” or otherwise canceled by woke, far-right, or far-left bigots. Liberal Malaysian TV shows and news programs are actually interesting to watch for the first time ever and cringeworthy political ads no longer cater exclusively to the corrupt government of the day, forcing one to use a VPN just to avoid seeing being bombarded with these annoying ads on YouTube.

LNN, LBC, and Sky News Liberal Malaysia all have a huge presence locally. Newspapers include the New Straits Times, the Alvinsbrook Sentinel, the Brooklyn Times, and the North Borneo Morning Post. Hitz, Mix FM, Traxx FM, and BFM 89.9 are some well-known radio stations.

Holidays and festivals

Resurrection Day coincides with New Year’s Day on Jan. 1 and celebrates old Malaysia’s dissolution and its rebirth as Liberal Malaysia. This is Liberal Malaysia's national day and the only holiday unique to Liberal Malaysia.

Malaysia Day, which commemorated the founding of old Malaysia on Sep. 16, 1963, is no longer celebrated. Merdeka Day, which commemorated the independence of old Malaya from the United Kingdom on Aug. 31, 1957, is also no longer celebrated and is widely regarded as being exclusive to West Liberal Malaysia. Both holidays are now widely derided as deeply racist holidays that once served to elevate Malays and Muslims above non-Malays and non-Muslims and old West Malaysians above old Sarawakians and Sabahans. This is morally akin to celebrating the short-lived independence of the racist, pro-slavery Confederate States of America and waving a Confederate flag around in public.

In addition, neither holiday has any relevance to those who immigrated or fled to Liberal Malaysia in recent years, particularly refugees from Hong Kong as well as immigrants from the United States and Canada.

Hari Raya (AKA Eid-ul-Fitr) is widely celebrated by Malays and Muslims, Chinese or Lunar New Year is celebrated by the Chinese community, Diwali and Thaipusam are celebrated by Liberal Malaysian Indians, Easter is marked by Christians, Gawai is celebrated by Dayaks in Sarawak, and Kaamatan is celebrated by Kadazans in North Borneo. Atheists celebrate April Fool’s Day because according to the Holy Bible, only a fool refuses to acknowledge God’s existence. The date is purely tongue-in-cheek and symbolizes the fact that atheists are not afraid to burn in an imaginary hell that they know clearly doesn’t exist due to a lack of evidence.

Christmas is celebrated by Liberal Malaysians and Americans of all races and faiths, including Muslims and atheists, with Christians, particularly those of American, Canadian, European, or East Liberal Malaysian indigenous origin celebrating the occasion harder than everyone else.

Muslims were previously forbidden from celebrating Christmas and non-Muslims who erected Christmas trees and lights in a “Muslim area” i.e. a Muslim no-go zone were hounded by far-right Muslim thugs for the “crime” of daring to celebrate Christmas “in front of Muslims” while the cowardly non-Muslim owners of shopping malls and other private venues promised to “be more discreet” in where and how they serve pork, alcohol, and non-Muslim religious festivities such as Christmas instead of simply telling these fascists to f*ck right off with their racist bullsh*t. No longer. There is now a zero-tolerance approach toward this kind of religious intolerance and Christmas is now a public holiday across the entire nation including in the racist, old Malaysian and formerly PAS-run states of Kelantan and Terengganu.

Immigrants from the United States, Canada, and other Western countries have imported their own holidays with them to Liberal Malaysia. Halloween is now widely celebrated, and Christmas is celebrated much more enthusiastically across the entire country as a result, especially in traditionally Christian-majority Sarawak. American immigrants and their descendants often celebrate Thanksgiving. Canadian, British, Australian, New Zealand, and other Commonwealth immigrant communities also celebrate Boxing Day on Dec. 26 by watching reruns of the late Muhammad Ali best his opponents in black and white on an old analog television. They also watch Michael Jordan play his last, historic match against Utah Jazz and Ronaldo of Brazil best Germany in the 2002 World Cup final.

Sports

Liberal Malaysia has finally managed to overcome its gold medal drought to snag numerous gold medals in the Olympics, particularly in track cycling, badminton, diving, sport climbing, surfing, 3x3 basketball, BMX freestyle, swimming, archery, fencing, table tennis, and skateboarding. The contribution of Liberal Malaysian Chinese of Hong Kong refugee descent is also significant, particularly in table tennis, which has greatly improved Liberal Malaysia’s standing on the Olympic scoreboard against China. Immigrants from countries with strong Olympic records, such as the United States, have also greatly bolstered Liberal Malaysia’s overall performance.

International drone racing competitions are held annually drawing in participants and spectators from all over the world. Races are held around Penang Island and Alvinsbrook. There is also an artistic leg of the competition to see who can record the best videos and take the best pictures.

Liberal Malaysia is also a major hub for international e-sports tournaments and a major producer of some of the world’s most popular video games, surpassing even Japan in this area. It is the largest video game market and exporter in all of Asia and the Asia-Pacific and the third largest in the world, surpassed only by Europe and North America.
