Flags and coats of arms

Flags

The flag of Liberal Malaysia consists of a night-blue background fronted by a phoenix. Night blue represents the evening backdrop upon which the phoenix, which represents the rebirth of a nation, rises from the ashes.

The flag of Sarawak consists of a gold backdrop fronted by a purple diagonal semi-cross with a nine-pointed gold star in the middle. The gold backdrop represents the success and prosperity of Sarawak. Purple represents secularism, racial and religious coexistence, and a willingness to compromise and hear all views. The nine-pointed gold-star represents the original nine divisions of the former Raj of Sarawak, with the gold color representing good governance and complementing the gold backdrop.

Coats of arms

Liberal Malaysia's phoenix emblem represents the rebirth of a nation from the ashes of corruption, cronyism, poor governance, economic mismanagement, environmental degradation, racism, religious extremism, and other assorted public ills. The phoenix is the national animal of Liberal Malaysia.

Sarawak's coat of arms consists of a purple, gold, white, and black hornbill with a shield containing the flag's design as its chest and clutching a white ribbon and two violets. The hornbill is the regional animal of Sarawak.

The hornbill's purple brain and the violets it is clutching indicate that it has nothing but moderation, coexistence, and compromise, with the brain representing its intentions, the purple spot on its beak representing its sincerity, and the violets representing its actions.

The shield on its chest represents a determination to see things through and an unwavering defense of Sarawak’s freedoms, secularism, and democracy.

The gold talons and beak represent prosperity and good governance. The white ribbon represents peace while the white feathers represent purity of essence. The black and white feathers also represent Sarawak's rich "black and white" history, culture, and traditions.
