Formation of the Imperial Empire of Jocospor

Jocospor was not always a psychotic dictatorship. It was once a thriving republic, governed by a democratic Senate. However, in the year 2013AD, Jocospor began to experience difficulties. On the 16th July of that year, Jocospor's then-consul, Henricus Luc, was assassinated. His assailants, thought to be disgruntled unionists, succeeded in their plot to throw the republic into chaos. Initially, it was thought that an Acting Consul could be installed to deter insurgencies and steer Jocospor back to stability. However, the Senate failed to democratically agree on who should assume this role; thus, factions of differing political interests turned against each other. In time, this bickering escalated into a bloody civil war. The Senate, trying desperately to regain power over its people, resorted to desperate measures. It passed an act that, in times of great unrest, appointed one member as an Acting Dictator. The selected fellow in this time of great unrest was one Jordaan Agustín. However, Agustín saw the great benefits of his new status, and - when the civil war was quietened - refused to relinquish his power. When the Senate threatened to remove him from office by force, Agustín, who had by that time bought the allegiance of Jocospor's Chief of Police, Ludovic Dirk, had all its members arrested an executed. This action was carried out on 21st November 2015. A documented report filed by the Agustín faction read: "...[the Senate was] a constituency that threatened to compromise the new-found stability of the Republic of Jocospor." The public, who for the greater part were largely unaware of these happenings, were notified that Jocospor was to undergo sizable political reform. Agustín, accompanied by Dirk and other high-ranking police and defense officials, delivered a speech to an audience of ten thousand that detailed the need to remove the democratic system. This was immediately met with hostility, but the population soon realized objection was no option. Within a few days Agustín had bestowed upon himself the title of Emperor. It was from that day forward - 24th November 2015 - that the Imperial Empire of Jocospor came into being.
