78th Senate of Europeia Elected

(Europeia, March 31, 2021) - Europeia held its Senate election on Saturday, March 25. Seven candidates campaigned for five seats, which the minimum amount of seats legally allowed by the Constitution.
Usually, citizens vote for their preferred candidate as well as their preferred Senate size; however, due to only seven candidates running, election law dictated that there would be only five seats available to be won.
The following candidates were elected to the Senate: Forilian, Malashaan, Common-Sense Politics (CSP), GraVandius, and Sanjurika. The remaining candidates that ran for the Senate were Klatonia and Koroniti. CSP and GraVandius returned as Senators from the 77th Senate, while Sanjurika won his seat during his first-ever Europeian campaign.
Upon taking office, the Senate elected Senator GraVandius as speaker in a 3-1-1 vote against Malashaan. This is GraVandius' fourth term as speaker.
"I am very honored to have been trusted, for the fourth time, with the prestige of this office." Speaker GraVandius said, "I look forward to hopefully boosting engagement and enhancing legislative training this term." They appointed Malashaan as their Deputy Speaker.
The next election in Europeia will be the presidential election, to be held in 30 days.
