VersiliaFrom WIKI-NAME, the ADJECTIVE encyclopedia
The State of Versilia, commonly known as Versilia, is a sovereign island country located in the Pacific Ocean. Due to the insularity of its geography, it is entirely surrounded by the ocean. Its closest neighbours are Hawaii and the United States to the east, Japan to the west and Russia to the northwest. Versilia’s sovereign territory encompasses an archipelago of over 3,000 islands with four major islands. It is estimated that over 63 million people inhabit Versilia, the majority of which live on the plains of the country’s largest island. Versilia is comprised of 17 prefectures, a further 68 districts, 1 capital prefecture, and 5 foreign territories. Its capital is the city of Marmora, the country's largest city and main cultural and commercial centre. Other major cities include Louisville, Groenborg, Newsham-on-Sea and Kirkwall.
The archipelago that is now Versilia was sparsely inhabited before European colonisation in the early 1700s. The Indigenous Versilians were few in number and easily subjugated, and then assimilated, by the British, French and Dutch settlers that came to dominate the islands. During early colonisation, private interest and utopian groups banded together to acquire ownership of the islands, which in 1781 resulted in the independence and unification of the islands. Despite its independence it was militarily invalid and had little impact on the world with the exception of drawing a great many immigrants not only from Europe but from China, Japan and India as well. Vampires in particular were drawn to Versilia, becoming the country’s upper class and dominating its government for decades. The late 19th and early 20th centuries were periods of industrialisation and modernisation for Versilia, though this was interrupted by the World Wars. In WWI Versilia stayed relatively neutral and provided minimal support to the Allied Powers, and in WWII joined the Allies fully when the Empire of Japan attempted an invasion of Versilia.
