We start tonight with a report from the South Pacific High Court, where New haudenousee confederacy has accused LC Concrete Slab of corruption.

The case is entering it's fifth page of testimonial.

Representing the complainant, North prarie claimed the actions of the Slab represented a 'clear violation' of the charter.

However, Slab has put forwarded an impassioned defence.

With complex and detailed tesrimonials and arguments from many sides, Chief Justice Kringle and Justice Belschaft will, one expects, soon be looking to reach a decision.

This case is one of two high profile cases currently under consideration of the Court.

The Review of the Certification of the November 2018 Local Council Election has heard it's final testimonials.

Our Panda-riffic Electoral Commissioner Pencil Sharpeners 2 appeared calm and resolute stating to Court that he felt the election was not influenced by illegal activity.

A decision could be expected soon.

On 27 November, The South Pacific issued a
statement
regarding the actions of the New Pacific Order (NPO).

As a result of the NPO actions, the Cabinet of the South Pacific has asked the Assembly to terminate the Treaty of Capricorn with the New Pacific Order.

The potential revocation is now at vote in the Assembly.

Our Assembly is busy ensuring our laws protect and enhance our region.

Over the past few days a number of votes have come into Assembly members.

The latest votes include

•Repealing the treaty of Capricorn (at vote).
•Adding defamation to the criminal code (at vote).
•Changes to the electoral commissioner role and elections Act (Passed 29 votes to 5, 9 abstentions)
•Adding extortion ofnthe criminal code (passed 32 votes to 0, 5 abstentions).

Early this morning, our Mighty Minister of Military Affairs Roavin enlisted the citizens of the South Pacific to protect the region of St Abbaddon.

St Abbaddon was caught in a tussle between the nations of Topid and, the rightful leader, Kitsco.

The final vote for the Local Council elections concluded earlier this morning with Aidenfieeld taking the coveted final spot by only 2 Votes from former Councillor Auphelia.

The LC is now confirmed as:
The Solar System Scope
Concrete Slab, and
Aidenfieeld

This years election was marred by some external interference. Our Panda-riffic Electoral Commissioner Pencil Sharpeners 2 issued the following statement:

Official Statement from the Election Commissioner

The LC election has now concluded. After some discussions regarding TSP law and considering the situation carefully, I have decided that this result will stand and the election will be considered to be legitimate. Here is a full explanation of the events.

Yesterday I received a report that Techolandia had been sending telegrams to Auphelia voters over the last couple of rounds, in an attempt to change their votes. There is no problem with this tactic, however the Telegram contained quotes which were taken out of context and edited to misrepresent Auphelia's views - which may be defamation. TSP does not have any laws against defamation, either in the LC laws or in the forumside laws. However, defamation is against the NationStates rules.

This brings us onto TSP's Criminal Code.
Section 1.10 states "Conduct violations shall be defined as breaking in-game NationStates rules."
Section 2.2 states "Conduct violations are punishable by immediate ejection and banishment from the region, albeit punished parties may appeal this decision to the court. In most cases, nations that appeal the decision and apologize should expect to have their ban lifted.

While the forumside LC laws do not apply to LC elections, and the LC laws do not contain guidance for Election Commissioners, if a Conduct Violation was found to have occurred, I would have re-run the last two rounds (which were affected by the aforementioned Conduct Violation).

Since Techolandia's Telegram had been reported to the NS moderators, I was waiting upon their response to determine my next move. The response from the mods was as follows: "I'm seeing selective and possibly out of context quote content in the attached telegram, but the quotes haven't changed what Auphelia posted. Is it political and underhanded? Certainly. Does it break the Malicious Quote Editing rule? Not really."

Due to this ruling, the Telegram did not break any TSP laws. A discussion was had with the Cabinet, and after considering the actions, evidence, and our laws, I have made the decision to allow this result to stand.

Congratulations to the new LC and commiserations to those unfortunate nations this time.

We have received a special report from KTN News, Skylar Briggs

International news | Ryccia threatens Frost to allow military through blockade
By Skylar Briggs, KTN News
Tuesday, 13 November 2018

Monteros (KTN) — On Tuesday, the Worker's Party of Reizen announced their formal withdrawal from the Non Aggression Pact, accusing the Reizen Democratic Party of recruiting Ryccian mercenaries. After the withdrawal, Ryccia issued an ultimatum demanding their military allowed to pass the Frost blockade. However, similar threats have been made by Ryccia in the past that have not been acted upon. Valkyrian Chancellor Margaret Harrison issued a written statement condemning Ryccia, "The new threat made by Ryccia against the Imperial Frost Federation is a serious breach of Frost's national sovereignty and cannot be tolerated. The Valkyrian Republic demands that Ryccia respects international law and the sovereignty of its fellow states. If Ryccia breaches the Frost blockade, we will convene an emergency meeting of the World Forum for recourse against Ryccia."

This is a developing story.

In its simplest form: A proscription effectively bans a person/nation from the South Pacific. Those from The Ragerian Imperium were banned under a recent proscription.

Vulturret's post comes after last week's decision by the South Pacific High Court that it could not hear an appeal against the proscription of the region. Vulturret's post seeks to get answers from Prime Minister Serres and expresses concerns about the Link Proscriptions Act , it's interpretation and enactment.

The Don't Kill The Poor Act allows genocide, but names it a crime against humanity and requires all nations to aid to those fleeing genocide.

Whilst our delightful delegate Tsunamy has yet to decide, some initial comments on the proposed Act have already been made public...

Erinor wrote:Shockingly, I voted against, because it seems to be an utterly toothless resolution that doesn't actual prevent nations from committing acts of genocide - it just ensures they are properly labelled.

Beepee wrote:

It's just the weirdest resolution I've seen....

Delthorensdale wrote:"Don't Kill The Poor Act"
1. Against any group, you cannot intentionally commit violence, imprison, banish, or kill them. This affects all groups, including those doing these very things, conspirators, extremists, illegitimate regimes, invading armies, radicalized sects, terrorist cells, and traitors.
2. It's okay if the imprisonment, banishment, or execution of the individuals in a group is systemic, just not if it's systematic. Institutionalized prejudice is fine, you just have to displace or murder the group slowly over time.
3. "Renders crimes against humanity any acts of genocide against any group on the basis of economic status or employment". Best case scenario: This use of "renders" is interpreted as "represents or depicts artistically". Worst case: "provide or give" or "cause to be or become". This clause is somewhere between meaningless and horrifying.
4. The only good clause riding on the backs of a civil rights nightmare.

This whole thing needs to be rewritten to include specific, defined groups and defined protections provided. Personally, I would like a resolution that protects against the mass imprisonment or murder of people based on race, religion, or sex, too.

Some nations have begun celebrating early...

Others are preparing suitable festivities.

VOTE BEEPEE FOR LC!

It is I, Beepee.

Following a lovely couple of RMB posts, I've decided to throw my battered hat into the ring and run for LC.

I'd really like your vote as I'd love to look after you all.

You know me because:

  • My nation's name sounds like insect urine or a petroleum company,

  • I like to dress up,

  • I buttle,

  • I nurse you back to full health, and

  • I set off fireworks every time Aidenfieeld returns.

I think I'd be a good LC; I'm patient, I'm kind, I'm here a lot.

The South Pacific is a great place. I love it.  I especially love the RMB. Everyone's awesome! I'd like to keep the good thing we've got.

As you probably know, I like to buttle, so I can:

  • greet you upon arrival,

  • offer you a glass of Finest Midandian SPIT,

  • hand you the obligatory lampshade,

  • ensure you are well fed,

  • clean up after you, and

  • generally wait on you.

I'm not going to go into huge amounts of detail here but rather give a summary of what I'll do. (You can probably find my previous campaign to see some ideas I had then)

Polls:
We could have lots of fun and serious polls! In my time here I've seen how we and other regions have used polls. We can do so much more!

Games:
We've held RMB quizzes before. I'd like to do that again.
We could do Writing/Dispatch competitions; one off events; i have lots of ideas.

Moderation:
It's a key tenant of the position. The most recent LC has been light touch on this and it's worked well.

But I'd like to direct RP to Psomewhere and Knowehere when it gets a bit much on the RMB.

Naturally, double posting (etc) can be suitably dealt with.

Integration:
I'm across the WA, NS forums, TSP forums, discord and RMB. I can bring news, updates and the like from all these places to keep you up to date and connected.

Encouragement:
I'm happy to welcome and encourage participation on the RMB. As I know about the various areas of TSP, I can encourage participation in the various parts of government, etc.

We can work with our allies in other regions to promote more cross region chat.

Journalism:
I'd love to start a News Bulletin and would hope to do this.

Thank you for your time.... and here is the obligatory cute animal photo to try and sway your vote.

I, Beepee, being of sound mind and body (at least as sound as it's ever going to be) hereby declare:

  • I am a member of the Legislator Assembly within the South Pacific and I am a member of MoRA and MoFA.

  • I am a member of the World Assembly.

  • I am the current South Pacific Ambassador to LCRUA.

  • I have no affiliations with any other region.

  • I have 3 Puppets, which don't do much except exist for my RP.

  • I am also available on discord.

  • I swear to uphold the values and principles of the South Pacific.

Concrete Slab for LC!

Hey guys!

Most of you know me, but if you don't, here's a brief background. I started playing this game a year ago and was founded in Ten Thousand Islands. I region hopped for a while, but when I joined TSP, I knew that was the place for me. I've been active on the rmb and roleplay regions and made lots of friends! It was then I decided I want to make a difference. While I've not made the best decisions in the past, I've learned from my mistakes and am ready to give you everything I got!!

While other people talk about activity in the roleplay regions, I have experience with powers very similar to the LC as a moderator in Psomewhere and have used my influence to continue your good times.

Those times we have no polls aren't fun, right? Well, I would make sure we have mutually agreed on polls all in advance so the voting fun can always continue!

Your guyses trust is very important to me, and by having a daily presence on and off the game, I am working to earn this trust so I can give you as well as me a more enjoyable experience in the game.

I would also try my best to include many of you in fun and interesting roleplays, and maybe even get the whole TSP involved! (like how Techolandia has done a great job on the royal rp!)

Well CS, what are you gonna do on LC? <.<

Well, I am active on the rmb almost every day and try to check the forums at least once a day. I would suppress the baddies, always welcome our new friends when I can (like a certain vulpine I know), do whatever I can to help TSP, and have lots of fun with you guys!

This region is my home and my oasis from life, and I want to make it just as enjoyable for you as it is for me!

So vote this piece of concrete to be your LC!!!

(It would make him very happy!)
