@@FEATURED_TABLE@@

Welcome to The North Pacific!

Welcome to The North Pacific (TNP)! You might be a new nation to the game or in TNP, and you don't really know what is going on or where to start. Or you may be an experienced member but have several questions regarding some of the activities going on. Whatever the case, we have put together this handbook that you can use to familiarize yourself with the game and TNP, and to make the most out of your time in NationStates (NS).

The handbook has a number of different sections. The index below will help you navigate them. If you have any questions not answered in this handbook, feel free to send a telegram to Delegate Kaschovia, Minister of Home Affairs Lionsroar, or any of the Gameside Advocates and Mentors. They will be glad to help! Additionally, we are always looking to improve this handbook, so let us now if you think something should be added or changed.

Onboarding Checklist

This section covers the very first items you should check off as a newcomer to the game and TNP.

  • Why you should be in TNP: Selecting a region for your nation is one of the most important decisions you will make in the game. We hope you will make TNP your home, and this link explains why. If you have already decided to stay here, that's great!

  • Join the regional forum: The forum is where most government and roleplay activities take place. Registering an account is very easy. You should get yourself an account so that you can check out what's going on and join in on the fun.

  • Join our regional chat: Our Discord server is where our members hang out and chat about the game and real life subjects. You can join and introduce yourself to our community. Additionally, if you have any questions, asking on Discord is the fastest way to get help.

  • Apply for citizenship: Citizenship is your ticket to TNP. As a citizen, you can vote to elect our Delegate and other government officials, hold them accountable, and even run for these positions yourself. All you need to apply is a nation in TNP and an account on the forum.

Ways to Get Involved

Now that you have cleared the basics, you must be looking for things to do. Below are some of the opportunities TNP offers.

  • Get involved in the government: There are many ways to get involved in the government straight away after joining TNP. You can write the regional laws in the Regional Assembly. You can take part in the day-to-day running of the region in the Executive Staff. Or, you can protect TNP at home and abroad in the North Pacific Army.

  • Get involved in the World Assembly: Joining the World Assembly (WA) is one of the best ways to empower your nation, especially in TNP. Thanks to our WA Development Program, as a WA member you can determine international laws, have one of the highest endorsement counts in the entire game, and even win awards!

  • Get involved in RolePlay: We have not one, but two vibrant RolePlay (RP) universes, Eras and Strangereal. Each comes with its own map, chronology, and physics laws. If you commit to being active in RP, you can claim a spot in either universe's map, and join others in weaving stories about your nation and its role in the world.

  • Get involved in trading cards: Our regional cards guild provides many resources you can take advantage of to increase the value of your deck, including several offerings of free cards. As a member of the guild, you can also participate in many other cards-related activities, including themed collections, pull events, and regular publications.

Regional Publications

Through our regional nation, The Northern Light, we post a number of regular regional publications. You can follow them to stay up to speed with what's going on in TNP.

  • The Northern Lights: Produced by the Ministry of Communications, this is our regional newspaper. It includes both general news and op-ed articles about various aspects of TNP and NS.

  • The North Star: Produced by the Ministry of Communications, The North Star informs TNPers of current internal matters and government activities.

  • The Roleplay Reel: Produced by the Ministry of Communications, The Roleplay Reel showcases roleplay works by members of TNP's two RP communities.

  • The Monthly Snapshot: Produced by the Cards Guild, The Monthly Snapshot includes news about trading cards.

  • Press Releases: Produced by the Ministry of Home Affairs, press releases focus on news about the Executive Government, elections, and other regional issues of general interest.

  • Regional Assembly Digest: Produced by the Speaker's Office, the digest focuses on news about the legislative and other business of the Regional Assembly.

  • Information for WA Voters: Produced by the Ministry of WA Affairs, IFVs provide vote recommendations and analysis about all resolutions that reach the floor of the General Assembly or Security Council.

  • Weekly Anthologies: Produced by the Gameside Advocates, this series highlights dispatches produced by TNP nations.

  • Northern Broadcasting Service: Produced by the Ministry of Radio, this is our very own regional radio station in which our broadcasters provide their insight into current events in TNP and Nationstates.

  • WADP Awards: Produced as part of the WADP, this monthly publication presents regional awards to nations that actively participate in the World Assembly.

  • Literary Awards: Produced by the Gameside Advocates, this monthly publication presents regional awards to nations that actively post on the regional RMB or publish dispatches.

  • The Vice Delegate's Weekly Update: Produced by the Vice Delegate, this weekly publication provides updates on the activities of the Security Council.

Other Useful Links

Below are miscellaneous resources useful for all nations.

  • Government index: Get to know your government by using this list of all government officials in TNP. If you have questions or suggestions about any aspect of the regional governance, feel free to send a telegram to the corresponding government official.

  • Law index: This is a compilation of all legal documents currently in force in TNP. This includes our Constitution and Bill of Rights, which form the basis of our government.

  • RMB Guidelines: Posting on the regional message board (RMB) is a great way to socialize and get to know other TNP nations. Just make sure to follow these guidelines.

  • World Assembly voting policy: Look here to learn how TNP's Delegate casts the regional vote on World Assembly resolutions, and how you can help determine that vote.

  • Embassy policy: If you are here as a diplomat from another region, please take a look at our policy for in-game and forum embassies.

  • Recruitment policy: If you are here to recruit for another region, please take a look at our policy on permissible and prohibited types of recruitment.

I was just thinking...Why was everyone so hard on Crown Isles? He had an outburst or two, and he was banned indefinitely, had his land stripped from the map, and pretty much made him quit the game. You might think I'm just being sour, but he was a good friend of mine and what happened to him just doesn't sit right with me.

You do realize that he was probably one of the more toxic members of current-day SR, correct?

Yes, he was no doubt toxic, to which extent, I'n not exactly sure, but toxic nonetheless. But don't you think the reaction was a little extreme?

StrangeReal Roleplay

Quickly, gracefully, freely waltzing down center stage, a ballerina spun like a dancing rose, dipped in dark red, trimmed, and swimming in a spotlight.

The theater was dark and dimmed, dull and dry, void of any sound but the beautiful silhouette guiding the young performer. The ballerina waltzed to the edge of the large marble platform, bowing low, then risisng and gliding through the air once more.

“Gorgeous,” complimented Serena Sardothenian, clasping her hands together in a flash, “extraordinary!” she wiped a stream of tears from her eye and stared in awe of the event. Perched atop her private birds-eye-view box, she could view the entirety of the auditorium, all thousands of fans.

Sitting next to her and too, observing the dancer, Dao Phan’s eyes snaked along the performer’s body, closely watching every move. “Average,” he contemplated, turning grimly to Serena who stopped clapping.

The ballerina flew once more, landing in an explosion of applause, she would twirl, twist, and trance around in annoying beauty. Stunningly contorting in an array of elaborate moves, the dancer came to close and blinked her beautiful brown eyes, making sure to smile before exiting stage; A roar of applause followed.

“SILENCE!” barked Dao Phan, instantly standing. Reaching out to grab the several microphones that rested in front of his chair. The crowd sat back down and didn’t clap. “Better,” he exclaimed, taking a seat of his own.

“My dearest leader,” Serena hesitated, “what was that for?”

“Clapping is a waste, we do wish to see the next act, do we not?”

“Indeed,” replied George Ly, Vice President, who caressed his chin, taking careful note of all the guards that spanned the building. “Security is tight tonight my dearest leader...” he muttered.

“Never too prepared,” affirmed Dao, sliding deeper into his leather comforter.

The trio refocused on the stage, a male pianist typed a whimsical melody that called many to tears. The audience swayed to the magical tune, falling for its beauty.

Toying with her thumbs, Serena restlessly fought to not interrupt her Leader’s viewing. Only managing to lean closer to him, she too, invested her attention—to much dismay—away from the leader and into the next act.

The pianist continued the saddening tone that compelled you to feel warm and cozy, but sorrowful all in one. It was a relevant challenge to not be submerged by the music’s charming melody, demanding you to feel it’s importance.

Steaming with thoughts, Serena nearly popped out of her seat.

“Dearest leader,” mumbled Serena, “may I ask for our future militaristic ambitions? It has been years since our troops have seen action, shouldn’t we rekindle our past honor—“

Dao frowned at her, he muttered words to his guards and looked back at Serena. “Why the sudden interest?” He pondered, eyes still observing, critiquing the musical notes.

“My dearest leader, you are aware some closer countries are inferior? These peculiarities and obsolete traits paved into their failing societies must be converted—“

“Ms. Sardothenian, I served in the Roctanian Uprising, spent 7 years as a general to assist our nation, and mentored ‘William the Great’ himself. I have spent decades climbing ranks and manipulating so I could achieve what you see now, this beautiful Union. I have ambitions, goals, plots and schemes—“ he made sure he wasn’t too loud.

The audience beamed in an uproar of cheering as the pianist bowed and rushed for the exit. Then remembering their leader’s anger and the audience returned to their seats, resuming—mostly quiet—opinions.

“What schemes?” Serena leaned in further, taking advantage of the silence.

“That isn’t for you to know,” Dao smirked.

Frustrated, Serena, folder her arms, childlike and pouted.

“As your 4th ‘Speaker of The House’ this week! I commend you to—“

”Shh,” Dao gestured to the guards. “I will see you in your hotel room Ms. Sardothenian.”

The militia of armed men gripped the screaming fanatic and dragged her, a wild cat, away into the halls.

Turning to face the next magician, he only smiled and muttered, “average.”

He haven't quit the game, in fact he keeps sending here his puppets to harass us for being more than reasonable to him.

It was him who have screw up his situation with his pathetic little show, and it was always him who keep acting childish when he should have to reflect on his actions.

I'm not saying he was the worst guy ever, he did his choice and decided to trick us all. His behavior is not worthy of a community.

Meet the RMB - Season 2

Produced by the Gameside Advocates of The North Pacific

What is this?

After the success of last season, the ask-me-anything (AMA) series hosted on the Regional Message Board (RMB) will resume once again, this time with a few new faces. This series is meant to allow the nations of The North Pacific to get to know their government officials more intimately. Each week, one government official will spend an hour answering any questions that are asked of them on the RMB.

What kind of questions can I ask?

You can ask anything as long as it appropriate for the RMB! NationStates site rules still apply.

How do I ask a question?

Simply head on over to the RMB during the AMA time slot, and lodge a message with your question. Please make sure to mention the government official in your message so it doesn't get missed.

When does Meet the RMB take place?

Meet the RMB is scheduled to take place every Saturday for the remainder of the term. The exact times may vary depending on the government official's availability. Please keep an eye on this dispatch, as it will be updated frequently.

In this season there will also be a special event every Sunday where our guests will be the members of the Security Council.

Who will be featured in this series?

This series will be kicked off with AMAs featuring the Delegate and their Cabinet. We hope to expand this event to include the Vice Delegate, Speaker, Attorney General, Court Justices, and other government officials in the near future.

What's the current schedule?
