The Permanent Mission of France to the United Nations, overseen by Ambassador Francois Delattre and reporting to the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, has released the following statement on behalf of the French Government.

As the co-sponsors of this Resolution we implore the remainder of the United Nations Security Council to vote in its affirmation. We thank our Sikhiadeshi partners in the authoring of this document and we thank those who vote in favour. The Indian government's actions are unacceptable to the concept of even civilization itself and must not go unpunished. We will await their first statements to be made at this session in their defence in a fair and patient manner, but we shall also make it known that their actions have brought nothing but a stain on the international community and on their own government. This Resolution must be passed to ensure future regimes do not partake in this sort of barbaric practice.

The Delegation of India is neglecting the most basic of statistics and initiatives that were taken at a time before this Prime Minister. There will be people who commit crime and do not help themselves, but this is an active detriment. It is an affront to human rights. 

And finally, perhaps the most important of all, you completely neglected to acknowledge the fact that you have broken domestic and international law which your government is sworn to abide by. This concludes this installation of our position.

“We have met here today at a grave moment in the history of my country and I would request the Council kindly to bear with me and to hear the truth, the bitter truth. I know the United Nations; I know the Security Council I have attended their sessions before. The time has come when, as far as India is concerned, we shall have to speak the truth whether members of the Council like it or not. We were hoping that the Security Council, mindful of its responsibilities for the maintenance of world peace and justice, would act according to principles and bring an end to a naked, brutal aggression against my people. I came here for this reason. Arjun Patel is needed by the people of India, and when I was leaving India. was in two minds whether: to go to the Security Council to represent the cause of my country, to represent the cause of a people that had been subjected to aggression, or to remain with my people, by their side, while they were being subjected to attack and violence. However, I felt that it was imperative for me to come here and seek justice from the Security Council. But I must say, whether the members like it or not, that the Security Council has denied my country that justice. From the moment I arrived we have been subjected to dilatory tactics.”

"Well, let's not get ahead of ourselves on who has the moral high ground when it comes to these issues... nonetheless, the Chinese Delegation does very much have a point on this matter, and we concur that the condemnation and sanctions must move forward without inhibition."
