Brief Purpose: To reform the Office of the Attorney General as a direct response to the events of January 2021 regarding the potential for crisis as a result of a vacancy in the Office.
Amendment to the Attorney General Creation Act
Amendment:
Section: Creation, Clause ii. “The President may nominate an individual to Attorney General at the commencement of every Presidential term, or make appointments based on a case by case basis as legal violations and legal questions arise.” shall be replaced with “The President must nominate an individual to Attorney General at the commencement of every Presidential term, or make appointments based on a case by case basis as legal violations and legal questions arise.”
Section: Conflict of Interest, New Clause. At the end of this section, Clause iv shall be inserted, with the following contents: “In the event of a vacancy in the office of the Attorney General, the court must appoint an alternate prosecutor.”
