Only two embassies? That's a bit disappointing...

the number makes me frown, that it's going up makes me smile

C'Est La Guerre. You win some, you lose others, and some are just rained out.

Yesterday, we lost one of our own.

While requesting embassies with all of the regions tagged as "new", Lower Slobbovia accidentally did the unthinkable: they moved to Alliance of New CDA, with no hope of return.

Let's take a moment to honor their amazing service to the Embassy, however brief it was.

This one's for you!

Three out of the last four updates have only seen two new embassies... there is a disturbance in the force...

The incident with Slobbovia accidentally moving makes me think that there should be a confirmation check for moving regions.

The problem is: People ask for things to confirm actions, such as issue answering (which don't affect the vast majority of players, only the ones who might have very high stats in some areas and don't want to mess those up), which means that the mods get tired of people asking for these, so confirmation of more important actions such as moving region (especially important in locked founderless regions, if a nation is delegate etc.) are forgotten about.

And the R/D community hates the idea of preventing accidentally region moves, as they have objectives of moving between dozens of regions every update to either plaster them with advertising or remove the aforementioned advertising. The R/D community, a community created by accident, has so much leverage in the direction of the non-issue focused gameplay side of the game, that it almost leaves region-builders and regional politicians forgotten.

i agree that there should be confirmation for moving between regions, just have it like the issue confirmation set up

I figured that there should be a confirmation check, but only if your current region is password-protected. That way, it doesn't affect R/D, and it prevents the really bad incidents like Slobbovia's. Thoughts?

Hopefully, most people are more intelligent than we were, and they avoid moving out of a password protected region. Our error should not result in a change to NS. The solution that A Goblinoid Merchant used to move us back into The Embassy is available for those rare instances when that does happen.

There must be a forum thread about having to confirm movements first with an extra click? Not?

I would be curious to read. I thought the official stance is/was that raiding cannot be avoided because preventing it would interfere too much with other game mechanics?

Some old posts below... :

Charma (Edit: Karma) catched back on me and I accidentally jumped out of the region and spoilt my nice residency ranking. Almost 750 days of hard ... sitting here and absolutely doing nothing, gone in a second.

I hate that button... :/

I was on my mobile, and had a fat-finger moment. Damned if I could remember the password, so I had to reset it. But I can't access The Embassy's Admin page from my phone - it just takes too long to load. So I had to get on to a laptop to reset the password. Luckily I had enough influence. It would be pretty weird trying to do all this stuff from outside of the region!

The mods (mainly [violet], one of the site admins), are generally opposed to working in this feature. It has been suggested in the forums before, but it has been effectively rejected. This is because people keep asking for confirmation checks on pretty much anything, and there is as much opposition to these features as there is people calling for it (some people can find it frustrating to click 'confirm' when answering issues, for example). It would have backlash from the R/D community, so that wouldn't help.

Personally, I think that all non-reversible actions should have an option to have confirmation checks on them. This means that if you are worried about accidentally moving regions, you can take measures to prevent accidental moves. Or if you are worried about clicking the wrong option on issues. It can also be for stuff such as discarding cards - while card farmers might discard dozens of common cards, accidentally discarding a legendary can be disheartening.
