In the dead of night, the light of the moon offering the most illumination, hidden within a riverbank by a roadside lays a dozen soldiers wearing camouflage, equipped with bulletproof vests, combat helmets, and automatic weapons. Ahead of them on the road lays a tin can. All is quiet, but the silence is broken by the sound of military vehicles on a nighttime patrol, a pair of Altusian LUV’s approaching. As they get close, the commander holds his breath, before an explosion rocks the vehicles, the IED hidden within the can exploding with such force that it flips one of the LUVs over, rolling to the right off the side of the road away from the rebels. With this signal offering ample distraction, the rebels charge, opening fire on soldiers who attempt to leave the vehicles, and shooting through the glass to kill the drivers and radio operators, before shooting through the broken glass to slaughter those within. After the soldiers are dead, having hardly had time to reach for their rifles, the rebels scatter into the countryside.

One soldier takes a small Anyadan flag and sticks it onto the front of the right side up vehicle, and a second flag that only this group can identify. The flag of the red horizon contingency. After he finishes this, he takes a match and sticks it on the clothes of the patrol commander, before following his comrades into the countryside.

0100 hours

In the darkness of the night, sitting in the rubble of the side of the city that hasn’t yet been repaired, around 8 revolutionaries hide within the rubble, waiting for the patrol to come by. On the roof of an abandoned warehouse a block or two away, overlooking the rubble, lays a soldier aiming his snipers rifle. As the single vehicle approaches the ambush point, the sniper opens fire, shooting the driver right through the head and sending the vehicle crashing to the side. The rebels begin the ambush, opening fire with machine guns and shooting through windows, while a pair of men breach the rear of the vehicle to fire inside. While all the altusian troops are killed, they were able to kill 1 rebel and injure another in the shootout. The rebels quickly help their injured soldier escape, the rooftop sniper withdraws to the alleyways behind the warehouse, and the ground forces flee through other routes in the rubble to escape. In the pocket of the corpse of the fallen is a pair of flags, one of the fallen Sicilian republic that Crysentia destroyed, and the other matching the mysterious flag put on the destroyed vehicle in Anayada

Estander Aikos territory

0200 hours

In the earliest hours of the morning, a Lieutenant Colonel of the Estander military on leave returns to his home after a night of drinking at the bar. When he steps out from his vehicle, a pair of masked men wearing gloves and holding pistols open fire from the bushes, killing him instantly before splitting up to flee into the alleyways. One of the fleeing men runs into Estander police and opens fire, mortally wounding one before being shot in the neck and falling dead. In his pocket, officers find the matching mysterious flag found on the corpses from the 2 attacks in Anyada, although it looks slightly different due to the blood covering it. In the other pocket is the flag of the islands independence movement
