It's a bit of both tbh, you can choose to simply ignore the stats to fuel your roleplay needs, or to implement the stat changes for a more realistic and challenging roleplaying/gameplay experience. But for more roleplay, the Forums, Factbooks, and Dispatches are always there for your worldbuilding needs.
(well you can also simply click the Dismiss button for Issues that may seem irrelevant for you)

I know I definitely play NS to bother the Salaxalans. That's my only goal in this game

Whilst the proposed RP event isn't ready yet, I'm pleased to promote the Beatha RP setting which has had it's first IC RP post and it's first piece of short fiction written for it! If you don't know what I'm talking about, have a look at these:

Welcome to Beatha - a primer and worldbuilding thread, so you can see what it's all about: https://spiritusns.proboards.com/thread/593/wb-welcome-beatha

Beatha Signup thread - where you can register your interest and your characters: https://spiritusns.proboards.com/thread/601/ooc-beatha-signup-thread

Adventurer's Guide to Tubian Fauna - our first IC RP thread: https://spiritusns.proboards.com/thread/714/ic-adventurers-guide-tubian-fauna

Tales of Beatha - a thread for short scenes, stories and other non-RP writing: https://spiritusns.proboards.com/thread/719/tales-beatha

With thanks to Dootdootdootlydoot for all their work on this so far!

Isn't that what we're all here for?

Usually, I would try to find a way to relate our countries together. Maybe a shared past, geopolitics within Spiritus or anything really.

Following new legislation in Haremm, Haremm has been recently classified as an international menace after 'liberating' several nearby territories.

The world shall know our peaceful ways
BY FORCE

What a coincidence! I've recently started manscaping.
Today I inadvertently liberated some adjoining territories, and then thought what the heck? and shaved the whole region.
It's very airy now.

There were some results from last years survival and zombie and death rates from the apocalypse and I was just wondering how to survive without your population falling after working so hard to build it up

Still more or less in progress. We've moved 74 people and have almost 60 endos on the delegate. Though hopefully more of the inactive people still move.

Ahh right. Well, we wish you all the best of luck from us here in Spiritus!

Hello I'm new here! How does this game work? I gather we like potatoes here.

Greetings spud!

Welcome to the world of Nationstates, and thank you for choosing Spitirus as your resident region!

There are many ways to enjoy the game of Nationstates. Primarily, players run and shape their nations through the answering of "issues". These are essentially scenarios that address social and moral dilemmas or other problems. Issues are generated every five hours, and you can have a maximum of five issues at any time (but don't worry, they don't dissappear!). They can be accessed here!

There is also a funky deck building "game", which works by collecting nation's cards. You can earn nation cards by opening packs, which are given randomly by answering issues.

There is also the Forums, where you can discuss social and political topics, Roleplay, or find support!

There's the World Assembly, where you can write and vote on laws which affect all member states.

There are a few more niche details and mechanics, but I'll spare you from a longer essay for now hehe

If you need any help, be welcome to ask here on the Regional Message board!

Pro tip: check this FAQ!

Solve issues and hope we don't get raided.

Dang, I hate it when I keep accidentally cancelling theocracy in my nation.

Merry Christmas I think, I lost track of time
