The liberalisation of the criminal justice system within Briganteca was heavily looked down upon by both the Military and Police forces as Dictator Saoirse Maher's efforts to increase the civil rights of citizens weakened the power held by the Military and the Police.
Much of the Military and Police believed that the weakening of the state will lead to a rise in Anti-Communist sentiment as Brigantica is surrounded by enemies which seek to destory the ruling government, as theirs been attempts in sparking rebellion in the past. One being the airdropping and illegal smuggling of books and posters containing talking points voiced by enemies of the state.
The air dropping of pro-capitalist posters and Protestant Bibles across northern Briganteca by her northern neighbour Alba on December 25th 2023 almost sparked WW3 with Briganti Jet fighters having to intercept the Alban bombers which could've turned ugly if they had not turned around and back into Alba. As for illegal smugglings they have been recorded to make attempts of getting into Briganteca every year or two since the 1960s with many being intercepted and its contents burned.

This belief of rising Anti-Communist sentiment stems from the fact that since the revolution the harsh suppressing of those deemed enemies of the state have braught stability to the country, especially after the Cross-Rebellion in the early 60s was dealt with these policies of intolerance to Anti-Revolutionary ideals was seen as a positive to many.
But now with the easing of the death penalty in favour of continuous rehabitation, re-education, and "humane treatment of criminals" left a bad taste for many, and since Saoirse's rise to power in 2021 Anti-Government violence has seen a slow increase which worries the leading figures of authority which have no say in the political process, and risk being disposed by the head of state if they voice the wrong things.

Brigitta O'Donnell, a young 28 year old who's Head Chief of the Police Force "The Green-Shirts" has conspired with Military forces to sieze control of Government to 'Make Briganteca Great Again' in securing the states existence from inside and outside threats. Brigitta believes that the strength in the Vanguard Party and the harsh suppression of it's enemies is key to achieving a Communist Utopia, and Brigitta sees Saoirse as a threat to the Communist process. Despite believing she is acting in the interests of the people, knowing that a sudden siezeure of power may risk leading into a civil war she forged a Document to look the same as the one signed between Ciara and Saoirse during the transfer of power.

So in the early morning of January 11th 2024 at 2:55am most of the nations Military forces left their bases from cities surrounding the capital, the bulk of the forces moved into Isúrum with a few Battalions moving elsewhere to cities which had many politicians and military leaders whom were thought to be possible threats to the coup. By 3:15am Saoirse is forcibly held hostage by leading forces now at Brigittas command and was cohereced into travelling with them to the Parliment to sign the forged Document live on Television at 6am, after showing evidence that Saoirse's family were also held hostage she agreed to the transfer of power.

At 6:00am on Green-Heart News ((the one and only news media in the country)) Saoirse Declared that the states power shall be transferred to Brigitta O'Donnell after 'seeing her policies failed the revolution' and that she's "moving" to Argentina when she's infact being exiled to Argentina aswell as her family.

Despite the Coup being a success and made Brigitta the fourth Dictator of the Proletariat their was those who saw this sudden change in Saoirse's mood towards her policies off, almost as if she was forced to give up power, aswell as her voluntarily leaving for the ultra Capitalistic nation of Argentina sounding suspicious. Many Saoirse supporters mainly consisting of students rioted and attacked police which was responded with state violence and mass arrests.

Soon after Brigitta's siezing of power rehabs across the nation were raided and soon converted into prisons and those within these rehabs were either executed or imprisoned, those imprisoned were to be used later in labour camps once they're re-built. Higher police presence on streets was prevelent in an effort to clamp down on the increase of Anti-Government crime, and lastly plans to extend military conscription were announced on January 20th and are to be activated on Febuary 1st 2024, reason being is that not only Brigitta but also much of the Briganti government believe that a Third Global Conflict is iniment within the next 10 years. The new conscription law extends six months of service to three years for all Males and all Females serve two years, both by the time they're 18 years old and leave education are required to have six months training and are then given the opportinuty to either start active service now or start active service later at any time before they turn 27 years old if they wish to start higher education. Those with an associate degree or higher are only required to serve for six months active service.
