Free city of rigia

If I remember correctly, they managed to save the crown of thorns, the sliver of the cross, a piece of stone from Christ's tomb, and 2 of the three rose windows among other things.

Yeah, I was about to say that. A priest ran in and took them all out.

(As you know Liam) I am a Catholic myself, and Notre Dame Cathedral is arguably like the 4th most notable/important location in the Roman Catholic Church. St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City, Jerusalem, and Rome being the others. To Patek phillippe's point, it is just a building, and it will be rebuilt. The Holy See and the Pontifical Commission has already put aside millions of dollars to the reconstruction, plus the French government is doing the same. However, it is more of a tragedy to see that the artwork, religious artifacts, Holy relics, and almost 900 years of archival history, not only of the Catholic Church but of Paris, to go up in smoke, or damaged beyond repair. We were blessed with the fact that a lot of things were actually saved because it was locked away in the vault, and we should all be thankful for that.

Also, thank you for the sympathies Scholars of diplomacy. You obviously have a very good understanding of the importance of this place to the Catholic/Christian faith, and your tact and knowledge has not gone unnoticed.

You may have figured that I am also Christian (not Catholic though. I go to a Catholic school and it drove me away from Christianity for a few years), I think there was a reason this church burned down. It will serve the greater good, more people around the world are being exposed to Christianity, that will lead to more research and eventually, (hopefully) they will find the truth.

I really struggle to talk about this kind of thing for some reason

The liamese empire wrote:I believe that there is more to this than when a famous person dies. I would instead compare this tragedy to something like 9/11 or the fall of Constantinople. It's like seeing something that is seemingly eternal crumble right before your eyes, not to mention that the archives, art and architecture are extremely influential to our understanding of the time period. It also, in the eyes of many, is a symbol of not only French but Western civilization as a whole and for many like myself on the political right, we see this as a sad reminder of what is happening in Europe and in other Western countries where we feel like our entire culture is attempting to be removed by our own governments in the name of "inclusiveness". Basically, there is much more to this than a building burning down which is why it is monumental to many.

Hear Hear, I agree with your conclusion about us on the right seeing society crumble and to lose such an important symbol of faith is terrible, not to mention as you said, the artwork and the priceless other things.
We should also remember that this was built in the 1200's when something of that scale was immense. The amount of hand crafted work was huge and often this would feed a family for years, and it was beyond just one firm, it was a whole community to create something wonderful whereas today's buildings do not look as fantastic and do not last for 800 years

I am Protestant and not Catholic, but I certainly can feel the tragedy felt amongst all christendom.

- I think I may have offended some people with my opinion on the Notre Dame situation. If I have I apologise.

- Time to start life without RHINE MEDIA. Perhaps I will have enough time to fill a government position one-day next term. Wink Wink, Nudge Nudge.

ROUND HEADLINES

Here it is, the last hurrah for RHINE MEDIA and the RFA. The finals were hotly contested between 4 quality teams. I’ll let you get to the results now if you would like.

Rhine media has officially shut down at the release of this issue.

In other news, I would greatly appreciate if you sent a puppet over to New Protection Coalition, We have a roleplay made and run by Ivorica and are looking for nations to help start a government or just roleplay with us.

RPL DIVISION 1 RESULT

North Frasian Gunmen defeated Patek Phillippean Fire
The RPL has come to an end with another thrilling match between perhaps the two most even teams in the comp. The match was a nil-all draw by the time the full 90 minutes were up. Extra time was called and it looked like a win for the Gunmen, with them scoring their first in the 97th minute, but the Fire immediately kicked back to even the score. The game then went to a penalty shootout. The Gunmen scored a perfect 5 from 5 shots and the Fire were also 4 from 4 with 1 shot left. Unfortunately for the Fire, the goalie managed to just knock it out of the way.

And with that, the RPL finished forever with the Gunmen pulling the rare feat of taking both the spoon and RPL cup in consecutive seasons.

FINAL SCORE: North Frasian Gunmen (1/5) defeated the Patek Phillippean Fire (1/4) to take home to RPL

FOX CHAMPIONSHIP RESULT

Cretanjan Eagles defeated Cypress Scorpions
That wraps up an excellent season for the Eagles and the Scorpions. This match was going the Scorpions way for almost the whole match, having scored a goal in the 14th minute. The only thing that kept the Eagles in the game was their impressive defence stopping everything that came to them after that. They finally got a break in the 72nd minute to even out the score. It wasn’t enough for the Scorpions though as they realised they hadn’t gone hard enough early in the match. They managed to score a goal to book themselves the championship.

FINAL SCORE: Cretanjan Eagles (2) defeated Cypress Scorpions (1) to take home the FOX Championship

A WORD FROM THE RHINE MEDIA CEO

There you have it. RHINE MEDIA and the RPL are no more. Thank you to everyone who viewed and upvoted these articles (they aren’t easy to make). If you are interested I can do a last minute handoff. Just send Patek phillippe a telegram (I will not check RHINE MEDIA anymore).

Thanks Again, and don’t forget to send a puppet over to New Protection Coalition!
