Cool.

I'm gonna have the Byzantine Empire return after World War I/First Great World War, albeit with a territory encompassing only Constantinople.

Methinks it be called the Constantinople City-State or something.

How does a long-dead nation just "return"? People are unlikely to suddenly decide that out of all the political reforms they could decide to implement, resurrecting the outdated laws and customs of a centuries-old former empire that none of them even properly remember is the right way to go.

Trotterdam My guess is that it is out of nostalgia. The kind of nostalgia that nationalists and fashists hang on to. Out of believe that we should return to the "good old days". Some people would rather live in a idolized vision of the past, so they try to bring the past back.

Just an FYI: Squeeheart has resigned from the World Assembly. I've been meaning to do that for a long time, but finally got around to it. The reason is simple: I rarely log in with this nation to begin with, mainly because I don't do as many MLP-related things before and I have other nations I log into more frequently. World Assembly membership would be more appropriate with one of those often-checked-on countries instead. Not sure if I'll still be having a WA nation in the Pony Lands or not.

That sounds about right with Germane Third Reich/Novaya Equestria. Personal political opinions beside, this situation would probably make more sense if there was a believable story surrounding the decision for which people in the region are trying to bring back the Byzantine Empire and/or traditions. Nationalists and fascists would most likely be in favor of something like this though. I don't know much of anything about the Byzantine, but I doubt they would be anything like the modern societies of today. At the very least, not the good parts about modern societies today.

Of course, what they're likely to end up with is some completely new thing that resembles the past in name only.

Makes sense, considering the show ended a year and a half ago.

happy International Workers' Day everyone!

Actually, the laws will be updated to modern standards, and some or most customs will have to be reformed or abolished. And for that question, by demands and treaty. In my universe, the Turks hesitantly agreed to the Novayans' demands to restore the Byzantine Empire, which now solely consist of Constantinople. Though it comes with a series of unnecessary arguments on how best the Byzantine Empire, or just Byzantium, be brought back and why it needed to be brought back.

What about a foreign nation (the Novayan Commonwealth) that sought to bring back the Byzantine Empire (again, its only territory is in Constantinople)?

Also, who can do FT RPs, and who here played Stellaris?
