Big Sioux River, Dakota Tribes - Summer 1000 C.E
In the depths of the American prairie, a group of a dozen men watch over the river, donned in red and white war paint over their eyes and chest, grasping various weapons on one-hand. A younger man, with darker hair and face still fresh from youth, wields with conviction a dark-tipped spear the size of his body, as his eye met his match on the battlefield; a bison, the largest in the small herd, possibly even the main male in the group. The bison however was unaware, or rather do not care, exchanging glances once or twice at the younger man but still moving side-to-side grazing on the golden grass as if he was flaunting his own strength. Far in the back however, there was an older man with white hair extending past his shoulder and an empty spot at the top; the sign of a male who had done his duties with resilience under the scorching heat and so the Sun had blessed him with a halo on his head. His war paint was different, it had shades of dark blue and even bark-brown on his forehead, his attire included leather leggings and string of bone-runes tightly around his neck, as if the charm was keeping it in place from his frail and old body. Nonetheless, the old man held a bundle of feather-colored ammo on one hand and a short pipe on his other; made of the finest reeds with charms engraved into it.
Suddenly, without warning, the young man shouted, he yelled with passion and pride the war cry of his people and swiftly with both hands on his spear, charged straight ahead the river; burning with the innate insanity of getting his first kill. The other young men in the dozen soon followed suit, some brought axes and others lances, but the oldman still remain at the back, stoic and imposing, he watched as the others make haste to the herd. The group except the old man was now in frenzy, charging at the biggest bison.
The herd however was not stupid. Upon the first sound of man, the smaller bison scuttled over the hill and the females too behind them; but the male stood still, but without preparation, standing firm against the crowd and stretching his hind legs; a move that the old man had spotted with decades of training and decades more of bloodshed. The young man, triumphant in his already-won victory, pushed the spear with all his might to the head of the bison; but it broke, it splintered, broken like twigs upon the skull of the beast and like the twigs, his confidence shattered on that one fatal move. The confidence of others were retained but all were now wary of what they had just seen.
It was now the bison's turn. With a loud roar, he alarmed all the others nearby. His hooves in the air were now ready for revenge; just above the young man's skull; it was now his turn. Then a sharp noise can be heard whizzing by, stunned the bison, then it fell back on its legs with one last groan, showing again who's on top of the food chain. All was in a mixed state of fear, excitement and paralysis; it was all too fast, too fast for anyone to recall what just happened yet too fast for it to be forgotten easily. The young man rose in embarassement and relief, looking over the carcass of the bison, spotting feathered fellow lodged in the neck of the bison and with a little shine, metal glistening underneath.
Everyone looked back at the old man but to their surprise he was still there, crouching over the river where he was without moving an inch. His stone face still in perpetual boredom and contemplation. The old man hadn't change his pose, still lazily holding a blowpipe in one and half-a-dozen or so ammo but this time they all noticed; the blue one was missing.
The journey back to the village was quiet, although the silence was more deafening than the roars of the beasts of the prairie.
Steam-powered galleys, developed roughly around the sixth or seventh century. Horses and diseases have made their way across the native population, but so have advanced weapons. However, of slightly more concern to the natives is probably still the Chinese, who set up a colony in California.
So how advanced are we? are we in steampunk medieval era? clockwork maybe? I can't find any references for history or stuff like that so i'm completely blank. also how does technology and stuff works? am I inferior in technology since I'm native american?
1939 dieselpunk/steampunk. The aesthetic mostly serves to justify use adding landship-esque walkers and armored airships.
so we have guns and machinery and oil, coal and factories? only in military or is there stuff like electricity, penicillin and chemistry?
It extends to all things. Of course not all nations are equally industrialized or industrialized at allz
Just updated our government factbook:
The regional government of Machtpolitik is the Out-of-Character (OOC) organization which governs the day-to-day happenings of the region. The government is split into three branunches, the Legislative Branch, the Executive Branch, and the Judicial Branch, resulting in a tripartite separation of powers. Each branch is responsible for a different aspect of the government process; the Legislative Branch serves as the most direct voice of the people in determining broad strokes that the region follows; the Executive Branch serves as a quick and efficient way of keeping the region running smoothly via an elected leader; and the Judicial Branch upholds the integrity of the region's roleplay through three unelected members proven to be valuable and experienced administrators.
The Legislative Branch consists of all active roleplaying members of the region, termed the General Assembly. Membership in the General Assembly is mandatory; resigning from the General Assembly is tantamount to leaving the region. The General Assembly has the power to pass major legislation, termed Propositions. Propositions have power over major changes that do not fall under the jurisdiction of another branch or a branch that is uncertain about how to proceed; for example, propositions might change the RP timescale, or change the regulations on what qualifies as a RMB post, or declare a certain activity illegal. Any member of the General Assembly may suggest change or debate on the RMB, but a Proposition is only valid when it is voted on using a regionwide poll that lasts for 24 hours. The proposition passes if the "Yea" votes outnumber the "Nay" votes; no matter if it is 1 Yea to 0 Nays, or 12 Yeas to 6 Nays, the proposition will pass. The General Assembly also has the power to impeach nations for offenses and to decide on the punishment, through the process of Impeachments. Any member of the General Assembly may accuse people of crimes or misdeeds, but an Impeachment is only valid when it is voted on using a regionwide poll that lasts for 24 hours. If a guilty verdict is reached, then a second regionwide poll will determine the punishment for the nation. The same majority rules as that of a Proposition apply. Nations have the option to form Voting Coalitions. If five or more nations announce their intention to form a Voting Coalition, their one and only leader will be granted officer status with poll powers. Nations who are part of a Voting Coalition are encouraged to vote together on Proposition that their leader proposes. If a Voting Coalition disbands or falls to four or fewer members, their leader will lose poll powers. A nation may only be part of one Voting Coalition at any given moment. Only somebody with poll powers is allowed to officially begin the process of a Proposition or Impeachment; namely, Triumvirs, the Secretary-General, or the one and only leader of a Voting Coalition. Propositions and Impeachments are final decisions and cannot be reversed unless by a contradictory Proposition. Only one Proposition, Impeachment, or Election may take place at one time; Impeachment of a Secretary-General has priority, followed by Impeachment of a Triumvir, then Impeachment of a Minister, then Election of a Secretary-General, then Election of a Triumvir, and only then by Propositions.

The Executive Branch consists of those members of the General Assembly who have authority over day-to-day matters in the region, such as the calculation of populations, the moving of troops, and rankings. The Executive Branch is split up into two parts, the Secretary-General and the various Ministries.
The Secretary-General is the elected leader of the region. Elections for Secretary-General are hosted on the first day of every month; candidates must submit their candidacy on the RMB at least 24 hours before the elections are due to begin. The election is a regionwide poll that lasts for 24 hours. At the end of the 24 hours, the candidate with the most votes is declared the Secretary-General. If there is a tie for winner, another round of voting will take place, continuing thereafter until a winner is declared. In such a case, the previous Secretary-General will serve as acting Secretary-General, unless the Secretary-General resigned or was impeached, in which case the longest-serving member of the General Assembly in good standing will serve.
The Secretary-General is capable of issuing Executive Orders, which are Propositions which take effect immediately. These quick decisions serve as the rules by which the region operates, on par with Propositions, but an Executive Order can be overturned by a contradictory Proposition or a majority decision from the Triumvirs. A list of all propositions so far can be found here: Legal Archives. This list may not always be up to date.
In addition, the Secretary-General has Appearance Powers (allowing them to change the appearance of the region), Border Control Powers (allowing them to enforce an Impeachment), Communications Powers (allowing them to send mass telegrams alerting the entire region), Embassy Powers (allowing them to open relations with other regions), and Poll Powers (meaning they can formally begin Propositions or Impeachments). The Secretary-General also has the password to the Admin account, Machtpolitik admin.
List of Secretary Generals
Additionally, the Secretary-General possesses the power to appoint and dismiss ministers from the various Ministries. The Ministries are the heart of the region; they keep the day-to-day functions working. Each ministry is responsible for one aspect of the region, variously the map, the war system, populations and statistics, ranking the different nations, and archiving information. These Ministries are largely autonomous, able to independently decide on how to implement the system decided either by themselves or the General Assembly, and they answer only to the Secretary-General; however, if an incapable minister is appointed or a capable minister is sacked, the General Assembly can pass an Impeachment or Proposition rectifying that. The Ministers may or may not have the passwords to the Admin account, Machtpolitik admin.
The Ministry of Cartography manages the map of the region, which can be found here: Regional Map. They are in charge of drawing provinces, moving and adding troops, and changing borders. The Ministry of Cartography is the largest ministry.

The Judicial Branch consists of three senior and experienced members of the General Assembly, called the Triumvirs or collectively the Triumvirate. A Triumvir cannot simultaneously serve as Secretary-General. Triumvirs serve for life, unless they resign or are impeached.
In the case of such a scenario, a snap election would be held at a certain date after the resignation. Candidates must submit their candidacy on the RMB at least 24 hours before the elections are due to begin. The election is a regionwide poll that lasts for 24 hours. At the end of the 24 hours, the candidate with the most votes is declared the new Triumvir. If there is a tie for winner, another round of voting will take place, continuing thereafter until a winner is declared. In such a case, the current Secretary-General will serve as acting Triumvir, unless the Secretary-General also resigned or was impeached, in which case the longest-serving member of the General Assembly in good standing will serve.
Triumvirs have ultimate authority over all events pertaining to Roleplay. Any single one of the Triumvirs has the power to Void RMB posts, declaring parts of or the entire RMB post null and void. Any single one of the Triumvirs also has the power to Unvoid RMB posts, removing a previous void from the RMB post, except if the RMB post is their own post. If two Triumvirs contradict each other on whether an RMB post should be voided or not, the post is considered to be unvoided until the third Triumvir makes a decision.
Triumvirs also have the power to overturn an Executive Order by a majority vote. In addition, Triumvirs have Appearance Powers (allowing them to change the appearance of the region), Border Control Powers (allowing them to enforce an Impeachment), Communications Powers (allowing them to send mass telegrams alerting the entire region), Embassy Powers (allowing them to open relations with other regions), and Poll Powers (meaning they can formally begin Propositions or Impeachments). The three Triumvirs also have the password to the Admin account, Machtpolitik admin.
List of Triumvirs
I listed the veterans based on seniority in the last region, for the purposes of Article II, Section II, Clause VII and Article III, Section II, Clause VI ("In such a case, the previous Secretary-General will serve as acting Secretary-General, unless the Secretary-General resigned or was impeached, in which case the longest-serving member of the General Assembly in good standing will serve" and "In such a case, the current Secretary-General will serve as acting Triumvir, unless the Secretary-General also resigned or was impeached, in which case the longest-serving member of the General Assembly in good standing will serve.")
I need a flag like that for another region, SPQL, BUT WITH Tyrian purple.
The final section of the Curtain of Steel collage has just been completed! I just have to piece them together (and add a bunch of smaller puppets) and it'll be done.
