Incomplete rough-concept for a commemorative flag for the region in honour of the fourth-year anniversary of LDA's founding in roughly two months. Subject to changes if I can make the flower look like a flame.

Support. We should also make it a bit more complex and add some resemblance to our own flag.

Monsmearc wrote:Thank you for the update, Republic of Mesque, they are much appreciated!

For the RMB, I will establish early that I will not be running for any terms this upcoming season.

I will retract this statement. If no one else runs I will stay on the ballot. There are some minor proposals I have for efficiency so those will be presented if I do get elected again. I should have free time after the end of May, perhaps June. Nonetheless, it is my goal to interact with the region more during the next school year.

I convey my well-wishes to South Newtown. I do apologize for my cricket chirps regarding Shahi Bengal's plot.

Be it gold or not gold, LDA should not stand alone again.

Ethos compels me to agree with this proposal.

In that case, I'll most likely rejoin JEFF's Discord send over a delegation to JEFF and the Liberty Democratic Alliance can release confirmation on the collaboration. If scheduling permits I shall be able to engage in the Trade Fair.

Thank you! I will attempt to incorporate gold and blue in the flag. The current draft is based largely from olives (the olive flower from the draft, the laurel wreath might be replaced with an olive branch but we shall see) and the symbolism commonly ascribed to them. I will look through the RMB to seek other symbols that can add to the complexity of the overall design. Initially, I wanted to make the petals look like flames as a reference to the Statue of Liberty, although it may be more impactful to reassign the meaning to the Greek myth of Prometheus.

He vuelto de Espana!
We had a trip through some of the major cities of the north, Barcelona was fantastic with the Sagrada being as crowded as ever, the weather simply too hot for my winter-hardened skin and the new Metro line 9 was also really cool and in my opinion a starkly differentiating line from the rest of the system. It was really scary getting off the line because I had to take like 20 escalators. Sports like "Goalball", football. swimming and basketball were great fun! The children and seniors were so happy and kind! The hotels were... it differed from place to place, let's say that. And we also managed to see the Champions League game in Barcelona... Can't say the Spaniards were too happy.

The next large city was Zaragoza, very nostalgic because we had a partner school there we visited half annually when I was 14-16, so I managed to visit some old friends(it's not like the last trip was 90 years ago!).
A LOT of crazy stories from that time... a lot of stories about my friends getting intoxicated... I think that was the place I realised I couldn't really call myself a "child" anymore. It was I think during our first trip... some guy tried to get me to buy a beer and I refused. Then I got into an argument with my pals. I told them the guy was an a-hole for trying to sell me, in my opinion back then still a child, a beer, while the others, all drinking vodka and stuff, told me I couldn't call myself a "small child" anymore. That same evening, later, I realised they were correct. My best friend, and a Spanish guy, he was like a head taller than me, 2 taller than her, quite dashing, were smooching at a bus stop, because the guy showed us and our exchange partners(I'll never forget you Claudia!) the way. So there I was, my best friend making out with a stranger, most surprisingly: she is like by far the most religious person I know! She would always preach us stuff and cite bible things, yet there she was smooching with somebody we barely knew as if it was nothing. She even, during it forced me to swear by god to not tell the others about it. She was the only other one in our group besides me who didn't drink!
It was everything I imagined "teenager life" to be: Barely sleeping, only eating fast food and going to bars and "Botellones"(if you know what that means) for weeks. And in retrospect everything happened so... quickly. There was no "big plan to make our parents regret us but they'll never know because we're 1000 km away from them on the other side of the continent hahaha!". I just went with the group and found myself in those situations. It was fun, but always by the end of our trips my whole body was shaking from... everything. 8 litres coke a day, no sleep and 35 degrees C do that to somebody.

Oh and the last major city was Madrid. We sadly only stayed in the very old town, I actually wanted to visit the "Salamanca" area, but our tight schedule didn't allow for that unfortunately, but the Churros were still so good, much better yet still cheaper than back home. Less sweet and "heavier".
The AVE trains were in comparison really sweet, always arrived perfectly by the second!
And that was everything I guess: childhood trauma: check, Sports with the disabled children and some seniors: check, sightseeing in "Barca" and Madrid: check.

About JEFF and Gold, I can only say: YES!
And cool design, but it of course needs more detailing. Maybe have that "flame of prometheus" on top of the torch of the "Liberty Enlightening the World".
I think I would also like to return to the South Newtown RP, but before that I'd need to know what the plan is for the on-going RP, are we still planning to do the nuclear war?

Republic of Mesque wrote:A few important dates until the Regional Calendar is updated...
PM Election Season is set for May 1st, 2024. Election day begins on May 7th.
Until there are any reviews and new laws for term limits and regional elections, we still need a candidate to join for a Legislative Election poll to open. After the first poll, a Senator will be elected and the Senate will be open.

Reminder for all!

This is a bit embarrassing but I really like the corporate/business-friendly/incredibly-simplified style on flags

When did our RMB become free advertising space? What happened to it?

Monsmearc wrote:This is a bit embarrassing but I really like the corporate/business-friendly/incredibly-simplified style on flags

Lol I like the opposite - extravagant flags that would you take you an hour to draw and color.

Like advertisements from third-party businesses or advertising for other regions?

Monsmearc wrote:Like advertisements from third-party businesses or advertising for other regions?

Advertising for other regions, went through the RMB and 50% of them were just "JOIN OUR REGION! SO GOOD! BUILD EMBASSY SO PEOPLE CAN JOIN OUR REGION INSTEAD!!!"

Monsmearc wrote:This is a bit embarrassing but I really like the corporate/business-friendly/incredibly-simplified style on flags

Minimalist flags are just 👌

Both. Both is good.

I was so stunned when I saw this I began humming "The Internationale" out of sheer shock.

Prime Minister Election poll has been created!

Genuinely curious if anyone knows how to make banners, or knows anyone who can.
I do have a banner, but I received it as a gift from a nation that CTE'd around 2 years ago.

Ooh, what type of banner? I made one (well, a design for one on cardstock due to time-constraints) for a project on The Scarlet Letter a few months back, but it's not quite my strong suit. As for NationStates it needs to be tailored to fit a particular width and height otherwise it might crop out crucial elements. They have different proportions whether or not they're viewed from mobile or desktop!

It was tailored for desktop! It's actually on my NS page rn haha

I might change my banner as well, but I don't quite know what to replace the secretly-a-despot joke with. I'll see if I can draft ideas at some point.

I simply looked up a Pagan-Christian theme for a banner on sites such as Alternative Reality and DeviantArt on my computer before snapping a photo of it with my mobile camera. I cropped the picture, fitting nicely into NS specified size. Funny, my chosen banner had a backstory relaying how this flag was conceived in the inventor's dream of an imaginary Scottish spiritual, intentional community. Ironic ..Kismet!

Mine was tailored, I asked for my coat of arms and 4 photos on each side with a color scheme. TNP and TSP had some really good banner designers, but most of them CTE'd. They used advanced AE and Adobe for my banner, so kudos to them.

I must agree. The best example is Blue, White and Red. Take these 3 colours: you can either make a minimalist and extremely nice three vertical stripes model (in the following order: blue, white, red), or an abominable superimposition of misaligned red and white crosses on a blue background.

Nota Bene: this is sarcasm (unfortunately it's becoming more and more necessary to mention it in today's society)

Great story. These youth trips, somewhere between a symbol of maturity and growing autonomy, and an irresistible opportunity for transgression, are highly instructive. I sound like a baby-boom grandpa with that kind of phrase, even though I might not be much older than you (if not the same age). Perhaps the arrogant and pretentious obsession with theorizing everything, often rightfully reproached to my co-nationals. Anyway, whether you slept or not, it will be memorable. It's nice to have that kind of opportunity. Was it organized by your school? Was it a cultural trip or also a language or exchange student experience?

Vertical lines? How barbarous. Now crosses, those are the true marks of civilisation!/s

Those flags keep telling me to add and multiply something I don't have. This is why I dislike mathematics. :(
