Imperial Diet - Economic Security Act of 2022

The Imperial Diet has passed the Economic Security Act of 2022 which will head to the Prime Minister’s to be signed and also be given Imperial Assent. The act will designate certain strategic materials such as rare-earth minerals and semiconductor supplies that are fundamental to the national economy but heavily dependent on oversea resources. The Government will help ensure a stable secure supply and suppliers of materials may apply for government certification and financial aid for stable supply. The Government of Japan will also further stockpile strategic resources.

The government will designate the following as critical operators: power supply, gas supply, oil and gas refinery and import, water supply, railroad transport, road transport, maritime transport, air transport, operation of airports, telecommunication and broadcasting, mail services, financing, and payment card services. The designated operators will be required to make prior filings when introducing or commissioning maintenance of important facilities affecting the security of infrastructure, and the government may issue an order to take security measures to prevent disturbance to such facilities from outside of Japan.

The government will also initiate public-private partnerships/funding for research and development of advanced technologies such as aerospace, maritime, AI, and quantum mechanics that are important in terms of national security.

Patent applications regarding certain designated technologies will be subject to a national security test and may be subject to non-disclosure measures including licensing and overseas applications.

If signed, this law will come into effect January 1 of 2023.

Taylor camp files Russian interference complaint

Based on data gathered by the Taylor campaign, the probability of Russian interference affecting the upcoming Canadian elections is very high. Acccordingly, the Taylor campaign filed a complaint with an Ontario judge. The North administration was ordered by the judge to investigate the possible interference, but their response was apathetic at best.

The Taylor campaign has publicly asked the governments of the Kalmar Union, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States to denounce the Soviet Union for election interference, and to come forward with any information they might have uncovered. President North accused the Taylor campaign of "doxxing" individuals in their search for proof, and filed several lawsuits against Taylor for violating people's privacy.

All Quiet in the Demilitarised Zone.

Its a quiet night on the "Demilitarised Zone" or DMZ; an almost 2000km long stretch of land spanning the border between The State of Angola and The Union of Central Africa. The Border remains one of the most militarised in the world thanks to the seemingly perpetual ceasefire between the two nations following the end of the Great Central African War in the early 1990s. The Eastern 800km surrounding the "Lower Congo" region is the most militarised stretch of the DMZ, with both sides claiming it as their own soveriegn territory despite it being currently administred by the UCA; as well as containing the former capital of Angola, Luanda, which they still claim as their official capital to this day while the UNITA government is currently based in the city of Huambo.

The Border is constantly manned by both sides, regularly rotating divisions to guard and patrol the border to both ward off invasion and ensure no hostile elements are able to cross over. Barbed Wire, electric fences, landmines and watchtowers manned by Elite FACA/FTR Sniper Troops are spread across the length, relying on natural boundaries such as rivers and rainforests to create fortified positions where available.

Capitaine Cédric Mvondo sits on his watch tower, standing next to him is his FN-FAL battle rifle equipped with a scope allowing him to watch over the surrounding area from his post close to the Cassule Border checkpoint. He'd spent the last almost-decade of his life stationed at this watchtower; playing cards with his squadmates periodically gazing into the pitch black forests below, their chatter accompanied by nothing but hte sounds of the surrounding nature.

He was lucky he supposed, a position like this was one of the most saught after in the entire military. being a guard on the DMZ earned you a lot of respect as a defender against the hated regime to the south; while remaining a fairly safe and cushy station devoid of any real action despite the illusion afforded to them by the public. He takes a puff of his cigar and looks over at the table.. he smirks, a royal flush. Suddenly, the group recieves a signal, a wire has been tripped to the Southwest causing spotlights to turn on spreading towards the Angolan Border.

Its a lone man, looking malnorished and wearing tattered worn clothing, seemed like he hadnt bathed in a long time. So many were crossing the border from both sides, hoping that the stories of the other side were just "propoganda" and that a better life awaited them if they just made it through. Raising his rifle, he almost thought he saw the glint of tears in the mans eyes as he pulled the trigger, the gunshot echoing through the area and cutting off the sounds of nature, leaving only the rustle of leaves as the man hit the floor, followed by naught but silence and the weight of his work.

It was going to be a long night.

Ladakh Intervention now a "Second Kargil War": PDF, IPA face off in pitched urban battle

  • Over 200 killed in PDF's costliest battle yet

  • Week-long battle leaves IPA weary, on last legs

WEN DING and LIU JIAHU
Published: 21:43 PM, 2 July Juche 15

Heavy fighting rages throughout the city of Kargil as thousands of PDF troops face off against the IPA in what is easily the deadliest combat engagement in the Ladakh Intervention so far.

Brutal street fighting has become the norm the minute the PDF stepped into Kargil, with both sides bursting through doors and shooting through walls as they try to outmaneuver one another amidst the labyrinth of alleyways. Day-long hit-and-run battles were fought in the city centre, mere meters away from residences. With the potential for collateral damage and blue-on-blue fire high, the PDFAF could not provide close air support, leaving the PDFGF to fight on equal terms with its enemy.

A TV facility was stormed by the PDFGF, leading to one of the fiercest fights in the city. The facility swapped hands 6 times in one day before it was rendered inoperable by a PDFDF dronestrike. Local residents reported media blackouts during the affray. A daring attempt by combat engineers to repair the transmission system to broadcast messages of surrender was met with stiff resistance from faraway IPA fighters. The initiative was abandoned after 2 were killed later that night.

A PDF supply convoy was ambushed near the offskirts of the city, drawing enemy fire from every direction. 4 were killed and 2 were taken prisoner, although a majority of soldiers managed to escape the ambush and mount a counterattack. The convoy was rescued by a platoon of troops who flanked the ambushing force, although the 2 captured soldiers were unable to be recovered. The next day, 12 PDF MBTs engaged and destroyed 14 IPA armoured vehicles on the roads. Following outbursts of heavy fighting, several IPA fighting units, two self-propelled anti-aircraft weapons, and at least five mortar and artillery positions were destroyed by a combined force of tanks, helicopters, and PDFGF artillery forces.

IPA resistance in the suburbs has not yet been subdued, and the focus of the battle is gradually shifting from full combat to cordon-and-search operations. Small groups of IPA fighters hid throughout the area and launched sporadic attacks on PDF patrols with small arms and RPGs. These attacks were uncoordinated and the resulting firefights were lop-sided, with large numbers of fighters killed. However, the sheer number of attacks has killed 211 PDF soldiers and wounded 557 more. Estimates for IPA losses number at 1,602 deaths and 927 captured.

The fight at Kargil is expected to rage on for another week, although it is apparent that the IPA are faltering. The PDFAF's air offensive has all but crippled Free india-'s ability to reinforce defenders in Ladakh. Unconfirmed reports of IPA fighters in Kargil running out of ammunition and resorting to rock-throwing have made their way onto the airwaves, alongside alleged mutinies and acts of disobedience by IPA troops in Srinagar and Jammu. The PDF may have its lightning strike marred in the mountains, but outside events suggest it is on the cusp of victory.

The Times of London - 2021 Census Data released
2021 Census Results spark debate

The 2021 Census results have revealed the changing demographics of the BCC in a set of statistic which have divided opinion and sparked debate.

As a percentage, the largest group remained ‘White British’ (‘White’ English / Welsh / Scottish / etc.) with 69.8% of respondents identifying as such, a decrease from 74.6% in the 2011 census. The largest increase was in ‘South Asian’ (Indian/ British-Indian/ Pakistani etc) which rose from 4.8m to 5.8m an now stands at 9%.

However, there was an increase in those selecting British ethnicity as well as another (e.g. selecting 'British-Indian' as opposed to only ‘Indian’) with 84% of respondents selecting this.

The second most spoken language across BCC households is now Polish, with around 700,000 Poles in Great Britain, with second and third generation Poles with British Passports who arrived after WW2 taking the total to around 1m. Only 8 households reported Manx as the first language spoken at home, putting it on the critically endangered language list.

The highest population growth was seen in Guyana where population has increased from 790,000 to 1.4m with modest reductions in population in the cities across the north of England.

As well as 8 London Boroughs, minority ethnic populations now exceeded 50% in London, Birmingham, Leicester, Slough and Luton.

Nigel Lennon of the ‘British League’ catagorised as a far right hate group by many, decried the census data as proof that British culture was being undermined and that white Britons “risked being a minority in their own country”.

Lennon’s comments were denied by politicians from the main parties who pointed to economic growth statistics. With a growth rate of 3.2% year-on-year growth from £2.72t ($3.41t) to £2.81t ($3.52t). Much of this came from Guyana and as oil exploitation and exports begin to come on stream, and SE England.

Responding to the data, the PM Dana Frost stated that the data was “proof of the varied, vibrant and culturally rich” BCC and that other nations “were envious of [our] harmonious and culturally rich inheritance” but that that some communities were being left behind. Frost hinted at further help for de-industrialising areas: “My Labour government is painfully aware of the problems in the north of England and will be announcing a ‘levelling up’ agenda, paid for by recent tax changes to improve training, skills and infrastructure in the north of England, South Wales and the Central Belt of Scotland”.

Census data in summary:

  • White English/Welsh/Scottish – 79% - 48.6m

  • South Asian (Indian / Pakistani / Bangladeshi etc) – 9% - 5.8m

  • Black (African, Jamaican, Caribbean etc) – 8% - 3.1m

  • White ‘other’ (Polish, European, Irish etc) – 6% - 4.2m

  • Mixed heritage – 4% - 1.9m

  • Other – 4% - 1.7m

Moscow — In a secret report to the Kremlin, the Soviet Defense Ministry has informed the Presidium that supply lines have successfully been established. The Kalmar Intelligence community still believes that the invasion of Azerbaijan is imminent. The recent comments made by the new President, who has rejected efforts to join the USSR by means of referendum may go right into the playbook of a response. The build up of supplies is what is believed to have held the initial build up back.

Satellite information now shows new positions and in an increase in supply huts. Trains, trucks, and other means of transport have come steadily into the area. All that they are waiting for is the go ahead from Moscow to begin This military operation.

The Kalmar Union suggests now to calling this operation out publicly as it has been done before to sway the international community.

Months ago the Kalmar Union came to this podium to denounce the efforts made by the Cccp- to surround Azerbaijan. We shared these photos of the build up. Now, new images have been provided. Build up more troops, more supplies, more material needed for the Red Army to cross the border into Azerbaijan.

The USSR can explain all it wants. “Training, it’s our borders we can do as we please.” Yes, yes. But you don’t do this level with out having it pre-planned, and with out getting ready to invade a sovereign nation. This level of threat must end, and we demand the USSR pull its troops back from the border of Azerbaijan.

We’ve learned recently that the Azerbaijani President refused to join the USSR by means of referendum. The President refused and said no as a gun was pointed at his head! I ask this body pass by means of an immediate vote to condemn the USSR for its military build up, and its demands for Azerbaijan to be within the USSR as its army looked across the border. Now with its refusal and completion of supplies needed, it is only inevitable that an invasion will come. And this UAN must be ready to respond.

Dear Member States,

The UAN was founded with the sole objective of preserving world peace in mind: UANGA/RES/1. Nations have obligations and commitments to one another to promote and utilize peaceful diplomatic mechanisms as much as possible where there are disputes. These include arbitration to mediation, but almost always an aversion to war or violence. Recent events have tested that aversion, but it is ultimately an aspiration all of us should work towards.

If what the delegation from Kalmar asserts is true, the UAN is faced with a problem. If we are seeing the beginnings of another war, we must take action to steer the course of events away from war. By acceding to the UAN, all of us have acquiesced to the duty to preserve life. It is time for is to act on that duty, and for us not to resile from our word. History is a testament to the statement that peace must prevail...war would be disastrous on all of us, and it would be grossly unfair to rob a people of their chance to live a happy life.

I am reminded by a piece of dicta in Dr Bentley's Case (1748) 2 Ld Raym 1334: "The laws of God and man both give the party an opportunity to make his defence, if he has any…even God himself did not pass sentence upon Adam before he was called upon to make his defence." For the sake of a balanced dialogue, we must take stock not only of what Dr. Olivia Malmkvist has said, but also what the Soviet delegation may say. The allegations we are seeing here are quite damning. They are serious indictments on the behavior of a sovereign state, and it is only fair that we hear both sides of the conversation before casting judgement.

We hope all stakeholders can address the pertinent outstanding issues with a view to achieving a lasting and inclusive political settlement.

Geneva — Comrade Vladimir Federov, Permanent Representative of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics to the United Assembly of Nations, and the rest of the Soviet Delegation arrived to the Assembly Chamber and proceeded to walk over their designated station. The group was laughing, coming from their lunch break, and joking among themselves. Comrade Federov still held in his hand a can of coke that he has been drinking. When the Chair gave the Soviet Delegation time to speak, our comrade began his speech still with a large smile from the previous conversation:

Federov: My friends! [chuckles] Why are we so bitter during the Holiday season? [some in the delegation laugh] My friends, it's as if we didn't have a more pressing matter to speak about that we now have to deal with more fake news. Fake news and more fake news.

My friends, today the Kalmar Delegation, led by Olivia Malmkvist, seem to be making the same false accusations that were made 2 years ago. And for that reason, I ask the Chair to not reschedule this rather needless discussion and to instead hold it at the time prescribed by this Chamber's schedule: 20 of December, 2022. The reasoning is simple: If nothing happened during these past 2 years, nothing will happen in the next two weeks [some in the delegation laugh]

Honorable members of this Chamber, that is right: More than 2 years ago, the Kalmar Delegation logged a complaint against the Soviet Union calling the situation as of "extreme concern"

Formal Complaint and Motion of Concern

The Kalmar Union, on behalf of our allies, is acting on the following information, and filing a formal complaint against the USSR (Cccp-) and lodging a statement of extreme concern.

This is in regards to satellite imagery showing between 35,000 to 45,000 USSR soldiers and equipment, such as BMP’s, BTR’s, tanks and other equipment, with a a showing now of support material arriving near the border with Azerbaijan in a series of locations. These locations show the possibility of an impending threat on Azerbaijan.

The provided satellite imagery clearly shows troop movements closing in on the border on a line of possible attack angles into Azerbaijan.

While we recognize the sovereign right of any nation to orchestrate military maneuvers in their own borders, we are deeply concerned and troubled by the sudden levels of activity and equipment involved. This all being done during a sensitive discussion in the General Assembly involving the USSR and Eurasia, we are worried that the USSR is leveraging this situation even further to possibly gain back former territory of the USSR before it’s collapse in 1991.

The Kalmar Union demands an explanation from not only the UAN representative of the USSR, but the leadership of the USSR for these provocative and dangerous acts.

Back then, our delegation explained that such troops were in the region to perform military exercises, nothing more, nothing less. And during these past 2 years what has happened in that region? Nothing but military exercises. Is Azerbaijan still independent and sovereign today? The answer is yes. Is Azerbaijan under some occupation? The answer is no. So what changed in the past two years? This sounds more like the story of the boy who keeps crying wolf [Delegation laughs]

What has happened in the past 2 years that is so pressing that this body suddenly needs to throw protocol out the window to discuss, once more, why our troops are in our territories... really? Isn't the fact that 4 nuclear bombs have been detonated in the past 2 years alone more of a concern than some troops doing military exercises in the middle of Russian territory? Back then we were told an invasion of Azerbaijan was imminent. Back then we were told an invasion of Eurasia was imminent. Two years on and we are still on the edge of our seats waiting for the infamous invasions to happen [Delegation laughs] My friends, nothing has changed and so this body should not entertain Red Scare paranoia instead of focusing on the facts: the detonation of 4 nuclear bombs in the past 2 years.

It looks more like the Kalmar Delegation, whose country keeps professing peace but continue military builds up in Gotland, is trying to distract us from some very important discussions: The banning of the testing of nuclear devices and the potential implementation of a worldwide ban on nuclear weapons. My friends in the Kalmar Delegation, please let us continue with these more pressing topics, do not filibuster these debates. Give peace a chance!

White House Oval Office

Vanderbilt's stony expression only grew as he read the Kalmar news report before sighing. Deep down he knew it would come to light eventually but not this soon.

Better that the deed come to light now than later on and be used against us by either allies or the Soviets.... he thought to himself

Steeling himself for the more than likely sh*t-storm that would follow, he only gave a light chuckle before downing his shot of bourbon

"Well played Matthews....well played indeed. You'll suffer for a few months at best but then it's back to work for you, you sly son of a b*tch." Rising the glass to the now named State Department official, though the media would never know, he downed another shot before going back to the various reports on the desk. Before he started though, he sent an ecryped email to the Kalmar Union's embassy to pass along to their own President. It simply said the following:

Rook takes King. Check mate. Well played.

OOC: This is pretty damning evidence against Russia - if it existed that is. Unfortunately, your friend and ally in Washington decided to destroy said evidence nearly a RL month ago so it is highly unlikely that there was "documentation...kept as classified by the United States Department of Defense" The post was even liked by you as well, back then.

Due to recent events close to home and following on a request by the British Government, all Spec Ops teams currently in Azerbaijan (Cccp-) will be withdrawn in order to fulfill new missions in Central America and beyond. All trace of Union involvement will be removed before leaving the country and all mention of this action removed from all future reports. As far as anyone on Earth is concerned....the Union was never there.

Specially of interest here is the part where the player clearly states: "All trace of Union involvement will be removed before leaving the country and all mention of this action removed from all future reports. As far as anyone on Earth is concerned....the Union was never there."
Additionally I received confirmation from the player through DMs immediately after the post was published where he indeed confirmed that the only nation with concrete evidence and documentation in the present-day is Russia.

Thing is...even the US can't hide everything forever....and I am no exception. I allowed this post to go forward as it involves me as well. Someone would have back-ups within the Union.
