Travellers and businesspeople celebrate new trans-Pacific air routes
9 Maio

For the first time in Greater Cape's history, direct air service between Greater Cape and the Asian continent will be available starting 10 Maio. After signing an historic agreement between Far Eastern Airlines, which operates out of Far eastern union of soviet republics, and Azul Linhas Aéreas Capetãos, Greater Cape's flag carrier, direct, non-stop service between South America and East Asia will be offered on a regular basis.

Private travellers and businesspeople across the country alike are praising the new routes, which will foster a new era of intercultural exchange between Capetãos and Asians.

President and CEO of Azul Leticia Costa released a statement this morning expressing jubilation for the move: "Not only will we see a huge boom in tourism between our two countries, but the economic ramifications will be astounding. Before, businesspeople were required to travel through North America or Europe before reaching East Asia, making for some terribly long itineraries; now, in around 18 hours and with a single flight, one can travel from Rio de Janeiro or São Paulo directly to some of East Asia's most important financial destinations."

While optimistic about the potential for economic growth in both countries, the Ministry of International and Peace Affairs has stated that the evolving situation in Vashnal will have a direct impact on the air service. "Should circumstances in the Indochinese state become even more unstable, we foresee a potential influx of displaced persons seeking asylum, or at least a temporary reprieve from the unrest. With increased connectivity and global movement of people comes the possibility for a wider reach of humanitarian crises."

The story of Terry Gou, the king of electronics who left a Taiwan warehouse (with a loan from his mother)

The name of Terry Gou and his Hon Hai Precision, also known as Foxconn, may not be familiar to most. Yet it would be enough to add a couple of information to understand what the weight of Gou and his company is at an international level: Hon Hai Precision is in fact the largest electronics contract manufacturer in the world, with Apple among the main customers and about one million employees. Terry Gou's assets are estimated at approximately $ 7 billion.

There is little information on the beginning of Terry Gou's story, including some brief hints reconstructed by the famos Bloomberg and told by the entrepreneur himself during an interview.

Who is Terry Gou

Terry was born in Taiwan to parents from the Chinese province of Shanxi. His father is a police officer. As the country's policies change, the family has to adapt to a corner of a Taoist temple near a station, up to the age of 23, carries out three years of professional training, does military service and works for two years as an expedition clerk in a ' local company. At that point the decision to take the big leap and go on his own, convinced that electronic products "would be an integral part of everyday life". Today it seems obvious, but in the mid-1970s the perception was quite different.

Intentions become facts. Thanks to a loan of about $ 7,500 from his mother, Terry rents a shed in Tucheng, an understated suburb of Taipei, and buys a couple of plastic molding machines, with which he begins making knobs for changing channels on black and white TVs. His first client is Admiral TV, a company based in Chicago.

The American market quickly becomes an important outlet for Hon Hai Precision's business and Terry is more determined than ever to be ready with potential future buyers. He begins to practice signing in English, until he perfects his handwriting.

The rise of Hon Hai Precision

The 1980s brought Gou and his young company some essential turning points. The first occurs when he begins providing Atari with connectors that connect the joystick cable to the game consoles. The second is a long tour in the United States in which he visits 32 states in 11 months, which is also useful to greatly improve his uncertain English.

The 1990s, on the other hand, represented the decade of internationalization and listing on the stock exchange in 1991. The customers that Hon Hai supplies are joined by IBM, HP, Apple and Dell. Today Terry Gou, in fact, actually manufactures Apple's devices, or at least has a lot of weight in his business. In 2016 comes the latest weighty acquisitions by Hon Hai Precision, with manufacturer Sharp and the Nokia mobile phone brand.

Here is an example to better understand how much the variety of Gou's productions allows him to be present on the market. The object is a Nokia 1209 phone: the plastic casing is printed by Foxconn Technology, the speaker is made by Hon Hai Precision, as are the keyboard and the printed circuit connector; the printed circuit is made by Foxconn Advanced Technology, the screen by Chimei Innolux, a subsidiary in which Gou has a 2.7% stake. In total, about 70% of the phone's components are manufactured by a company related to Hon Hai Precision. Much the same could probably be true for an iPhone. If you are reading this article from one of Apple's jewels, (much) of the credit goes to Terry Gou too.

Edward Andersen MP Dies, By-Election Called

Tuesday morning, the family of Edward Andersen announced that he had died peacefully in his sleep at age 82 from natural causes. The New Holland MP, who was a member of the Union Party, represented the 3-membered seat of Gippsland for over 30 years. His wife, Matilda Andersen, says he will remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and politician who cared deeply for regional Aozhou and his constituents in rural New Holland.

The news also means a new by-election will be held to fill Mr. Andersen's former seat. The House of Representatives is elected using the single transferable vote, but casual vacanies are filled using the single-membered form, instant runoff voting. This by-election will be critical for the governing Nationalist/Union minority government has a working majority of 1, meaning a victory for the opposition could result in a loss of the governing majority.

The electorate of Gippsland is overwhelmingly rural and last general election elected 2 Union Party MPs and 1 Democratic Labor Party MP. While the Government certainly has an edge in this seat, the opposition Democratic Labor Party is fielding local farmer and New Holland MLA Roger Walkins as its candidate in an attempt to take the seat.

The Nationalist Party of Aozhou has, however, declined to field a candidate for the seat for this by-election, instead endorsing the Union Party's candidate, who has yet to be announced.

The United Democrats, Green Party, Freedom First, Family Values Party, Liberty Alliance, Aozhou Christian Democrats, Aozhou Conservatives, and Aozhou Pirate Party have also announced that they will field candidates for this election, though candidates have not yet been announced.

The campaign period will begin in 3 weeks time and will last for 4 weeks before the election.

Egypt to build a "City of Gold"

May, Cairo - The Egyptian government has recently announced the establishment of a new city for the manufacture and trade of gold, to capitalize on the new gold mining sector that had recently received several investments less than a year ago. The "City of Gold" is set to include units of delivery and storage, factories, workshops, gold shops, a gold-craft school, as well as services like a branch of jewelry stamping and scales, a museum, an educational park for children, a dining area and a logistics center.

The new city will be built on about 60 feddans, in El Obour City in the Qalyubia Governorate, about 35 kilometers north-east of Cairo. The government also announced that an adjacent mall will be built. Souq El Dahab (the Market of Gold) will be an eight-floor mall that will cover an area of 8,300 square meters. It will include five commercial floors and three other administrative areas.

The gold city is set to host the big workshops in El Saghah of Khan el Khalili, El Sagh is Egypt’s most famous district for gold jewelry shopping located in Fatimid-era old Cairo. Additionally, a school dedicated to teaching gold jewelry industry skills will be established. The new city will also host a factory for refining gold ore, the new plant would save a large amount of hard currency and offer a great quantity of gold, enough for producing jewelry for exporting.

According to a January report by the Export Council for Building Materials, Refractory & Metallurgy Industries (ECBM), Egypt’s exports of gold, jewelry and gemstones jumped in 2020 to $2.982 billion, compared to $2.036 billion in 2019, with a growth of 46 percent. With such high growth, it was no wonder that the Egyptian government would have sought to capitalize one way or another.

The State of California and the Federal Government of the Union are happy to be part of such a grand undertaking and as a result, seek to copy such an example in other places around the Union. Be it in the northern part of the nation to the sun soaked shores of the Gulf Coast, clean energy is the future of both the Union, which is already a leading pioneer in renewable energy sources, and of the world itself. Wind, solar, tidal, geothermal and safe nuclear power are the keys to ween the world off oil and other fossil fuels and we look forward to working any nation that seeks such a goal.

"People of Sweden!"

A deep, rough, commanding voice splashes through the evening air.

"We have too long sat idly by as slaves of this confederation of nations, treated equally to the lesser nations of weak individuals that surround us!"

A man of rather large stature, dressed in dark clothing brandishing the insignia of the underground Swedish nationalist United Front party on the sleeves speaks to a sizeable crowd, roughly mounting in the hundreds. The purpose of the late-night rally is clear; to inspire unrest and discontent in the people of Goteborg. The message implying that the other nations that make up this Union are lesser, combined with the general atmosphere of anger, complaints, discontent and unrest make the purpose of the rally all the more clear. The man speaking to the crowd addresses himself as Börje Hjertsson, and the man has appeared on news in the Brotherly Union for years. Börje first appeared on the nightly news in 2014 after being elected leader of the Party to Promote Unity, at the time a prominent party in Swedish parliament. Shortly thereafter, Börje was rumoured to be involved in the 2016 March on Kalmar, an infamous revolt in which the government was nearly forcibly overthrown by Swedish dissidents. However, no concrete proof was found of this, and Börje remained a free man. Since the March on Kalmar, Börje has been inciting hatred and discontent in the citizens of Sweden, appearing in public as often as possible at rallies like these.

"We shall no longer be apart of this Union! With your help, we can break free of the chains and bolts that hold us tethered and trapped to this unfair, imbalanced and tyrannical Union of "brothers"!"

The rally continues until the Swedish Police Authority in Goteborg arrive at 11:06 PM after several noise complaints. Initially, Börje and his compatriots insist on the meeting to continue, calling for the police to join their side. However, after insistence from the Police Authority and the threats of arrest on Börje and several others, as well as a significant portion of the crowd dispersing shortly after the arrival of the peace officers, Börje and his friends left the scene.

All of this and more coming to you thanks to our on-the-scene journalists and reporters.

FEUSSR Government reforms to go ahead

KUM CITY — The Executive Committee of the Supreme Soviet is beginning to take steps to drastically reform the FEUSSR's government to transform the FEUSSR's government ‎operations as a means to improve its services. Egyptian government announces Mostakbal Masr (Egypt's Future) project

May, Cairo - The project which extends over an area of 500 thousand feddans, is part of the state's strategy to maximize the potential productive opportunities in the field of land reclamation and agricultural production; hence, it would be added to the series of giant national development projects that the state has been implementing in all fields all over the Republic.

The project aims to provide high-quality agricultural products at reasonable prices to citizens, to bridge the gap in the local market between production and import, and to provide, therefore, foreign currency for the benefit of the state's national economy. As a result, thousands of direct and hundreds of thousands of indirect job opportunities would be provided for all categories of citizens given the diverse activities and various investment opportunities provided by the project, with the participation of major specialized agricultural companies from the private sector.

The project is located along Al-Dabaa Axis, one of the new paved roads that were enlisted in the agenda of the national road network. The road’s site was chosen for its several geographical advantages, given its proximity to export ports, airports, industrial areas, and a number of main roads and axes, which facilitates the transfer and access of agricultural products from the project lands to all parts of the Republic.

The infrastructure and administration of the project include a fully-fledged, integrated system for mechanizing agriculture and irrigation, equipped with the latest devices and techniques to complete various agricultural operations with both high quality and speed, thousands of center-pivot irrigators, 9 power stations with a capacity of 250 megawatts and a 200-km long internal power grid, as well as a 500-km long main and subsidiary road network.

The government has also provided the following details about the project:

1 – It is close to ports, industrial zones, airports, and a number of main roads, facilitating shipping and transportation.

2 – The project includes an integrated system of administration, irrigation and agricultural mechanism with the latest equipment and techniques. It has thousands of the Pivot Center Irrigation devices, two power stations with a capacity of 250 megawatts, and an internal electricity network of 200 kilometers in length.

3 – The project is supplied from underground water reservoirs Iosin, Maiosin and al-Magharrah reservoirs, all of which are an extension of Natrun Valley in Beheira governorate in northern Egypt, but more to the east. The wells were drilled with specific distances between the wells to preserve the underground water reservoirs and sustainable development.

4 – The infrastructure of the project has cost L.E.6 billion ($382mn). That includes internal roads of 500 kilometers in length and 10 meters in width, drilling wells, establishing power stations and grids at 200 kilometers in length, as well as storehouses, administrative and residential buildings.

It is also close to the Delta region, which is densely populated and home to 55 per cent of Egypt’s population. The project will contribute to bridging the gap in agricultural production. Egypt imports around 65 per cent of its food needs, so cultivating new land is a step towards self-sufficiency.

Egypt is one of the top importers of basic crops and the world’s top wheat importer. It imports 80 per cent of its fava beans, 100 per cent of its lentils, and 32 per cent of its sugar.

Following concerns of interference in the elections of an Asian Union member, a formal inquiry has been made into The hellenes league possible role in the misinformation and other destabilizing actions in the region. As this is of some concern to the Asian Union, I extend a warning of our risks of incident as we conduct investigations into the Hellenic Intelligence Agency EYP. We would humbly request that your nation and that of the FEUSSR use their proximity to the instability to try and delay the possible conflicts in the nation to give our agents time to find out if our suspicions are true. We would ask that the CSB does not alert the administration of the FEUSSR until The Republic has a influence in the Hellenic EYP agency.

Chosun SSR to build 6GW offshore wind farm

WEISHAN CITY — The Chosun SSR People's Government has announced plans to build a 6 GW floating offshore wind farm off the coast of Weishan in 10 years.

Supreme Leader Kum Jing-In said that the Chosun Development Bank (CDB), the Industrial and Commercial Bank of the Far East, Everbright, and the Far Eastern Oil Company would contribute a $32.8 billion USD investment towards the project, which in turn would create 210,000 jobs in the region. The SSR People's Government will provide an initial investment of approximately $1.2 billion USD for the project’s first stage within 4 years.

The wind facility is planned for the site of the Donghae-1 gas field, located 58 kilometers off the coast of Weishan City, which is due to cease production next year. Power from the wind facility upon completion will be used to power a 100MW electrolyser plant, which is being developed under a different project, as well as enough renewable energy to power 5.76 million homes in the FEUSSR and offset 9.3 million tonnes of carbon emissions a year. It could also be used for green hydrogen production, as 20% of the power generated could help deliver 84,000 tons of green hydrogen.

The depleted Donghae-1 gas field will also be part of Chosun's 'green revolution', as its pipeline to the port of Weishan would be reversed and used instead to inject carbon dioxide into the rock below the seabed, creating the FEUSSR’s first major carbon-capture reservoir. The Donghae-1 gas field would be able to 400,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually for 30 years, with the Far Eastern Oil Company running a feasibility study on the project this year. It would be the country's’s first major carbon capture and storage (CCS) project, and could become one of the biggest in the world.

The FEUSSR's plan helps with “geotechnical stability”, as pumping carbon dioxide back into the subterranean rock strata would balance the loss of the extracted gas. The technique has been used previously by the energy industry to force out crude oil or gas from reservoirs by pumping in carbon dioxide gas to help stabilize subterranean pressure. The FEUSSR further aims to have 4 million tons of annual carbon dioxide storage capacity in its continental shelf.

The reusing of existing underwater pipelines is expected to cut down on costs, although CCS costs for the Donghae-1 CCS project will still be priced between $60 and $70 USD for a ton of CO2. In total, it would cost $840 million USD to store all 30 years' worth of CO2 emissions, a price which the Federal Government will subsidise by 50%.

Currently, the Chosun SSR is constructing a 1.5 GW floating offshore wind farm about 72 kilometers off the shores of Weishan City, which is due to open in 3 years time, as part of its plan to set an offshore wind capacity of 12 GW in 8 years' time. In addition to the pre-existing Weishan City wind farm, the Chosun Electric Power Corporation and the Chosun Development Bank have sponsored a 700MW offshore wind farm in Duima Island with a $1 billion USP investment, which will begin operations in 2 years and meet 100% of the island's demand.

Navy unveils first prototype "tank boat"

The Union Navy, during it's annual Naval Showcase convention held in Washington, revealed to reports and other military enthusiasts along the riverfront it's latest patrol craft. Dubbed by some in the Navy as the Tank Boat, it's official designation is the Elco Fast Attack Boat and is the newest addition to the Navy's inventory of attack craft. Tracing it's roots in the famous World War Two PT Boats, the key difference is the lack of torpedo tubes and instead a turret on the top of the boat, hence the nick Tank Boat. The turret, armed with a 105mm gun, is able to traverse in a 360 degree arc and engage targets from range and gives the boat the ability to engage even naval vessels but will be mainly used to patrol around naval bases, support close shore vessels and also defend larger surface ships such as carriers, guided missile destroyers, missile battleships and even civilian tankers and cargo ships in pirate infested waters. Testing was largely conducted in the Gulf Of Mexico and the Navy has said though some issues still need to be reserved, the Elco Fast Attack Boat should be cleared for mass production by summer time. Besides the main gun turret, the Elco Fast Attack Boat is also fitted with a .50 Caliber Machine Gun and an array of sensors to can identify and engage hostile targets. Due to the low silhouette of the boat and other features, it's reportedly hard to detect with most older radars and some newer ones. This gives it an advantage of most of it's counterparts in both speed, detection and of course firepower. The Defense Department has also stated that the "Tank Boat" will be available for other nations to purchase due to the low cost and maintenance of the boat and weapon systems.

"The following is an update for the election incident that has occurred in our Unitary State. It has been proven that the FEUSSR has not interfered with our elections. However, we do not know who or what caused the interference. While the Hellenic League is our number one suspect once again, other nations, that will not be mentioned, are still in question. I ask, as Director of the Indochinese Intelligence Agency, that the lies against the FEUSSR be stopped at once. Do not direct your anger against an ally of ours. They have no reason to interfere with our sovereignty. The IIA will keep the citizenry of Indochina up to date as we learn more. It is in the best interests of the Indochinese people. Oval Office, White House

"Do we have any idea what the hell is going over there in regards to the elections?" Dawes asked the Secretary of State, who just shook his head

"Madam President, we really have no clue. First the Greeks give evidence that the FEUSSR messed with it, than they FEUSSR does the same with the Greeks and now the Indochinese do the same while one official stated it's the FEUSSR. Frankly the whole thing's a clusterf*ck and I doubt we'll get the whole story from anyone anytime soon. Best thing we can is just remove the sanctions we placed on the Communist Chinese and be done with it. No other actions taken and just go about business as usual. It's really the only thing we can do at this stage Ma'am" The secretary responded

Dawes sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose before replying

"Alright then...remove the sanctions and then we wipe our hands of the matters. As you said, it's a clusterf*ck and we'll never get the facts right. Make the announcement later today and then state that the Union is greatly concerned with the reports of fraud but as there are conflicting reports, we will merely observe the matter from afar and leave it to the parties involved to resolve."

The Secretary rose from the couch and nodded his head in agreement and spoke

"Of course Ma'am. I'll get people working on it as soon as I leave the grounds."

Nodded to him, Dawes sat back down and the Secretary left the room

State Department Announcement

Due to conflicting reports regarding the elections results in Indochina, the sanctions that were placed on the Far eastern union of soviet republics have been removed and no further action will be taken in regards to the matter. Again, this is due to the conflicting reports from various sources and no further actions will be taken on the parties involved.

PDFADF scrambles fighters; over 10 planes unlawfully seized

PUXIANG CITY — The PDF Air Defense Force has scrambled 50 fighters and mobilised its air defense systems, following reports of 14 instances of aircraft piracy over the last 24 hours.

Cumulatively, the 14 aircraft hold around 4,000 passengers and crew onboard, making this one of the largest hostage crises to ever occur in the century. Unofficial estimates tally the perpetrators at 80 to 100 people, while footage from several onboard sources indicate that the perpetrators are armed and dangerous. All 14 flights have originated from Imperial Eagle, and the Ministry of Investigations has ruled out American state involvement due to a lack of credible evidence.

The motives of the unlawful takeovers are currently unknown. It is speculated that it could be an attempt to secure the release of various criminal figures, or to be used as suicide attacks against the FEUSSR. Regardless, the Ministry of Investigations and the People's Defense Force have said that it would pursue all steps required to ensure the safety of those onboard, and those on the ground. To that end, it has declared an 8 hour flight delay for all aircraft in the Nanqiandao SSR, mobilised all 500,000 troops in the People's Border Protection Force (PBPF), and deployed 12 Alert Units of the People's Rapid Response Force (PRRF). The Ryukyu Autonomous Kingdom, which has its own autonomous government system, has readied Jiashouna (Kadena) Air Base for military use and ordered a 1-day cancellation of flights.

The MOI is still at work determining the identities of those onboard the 14 aircraft. It is estimated that of the 4,000 or so passengers onboard, at least 700 to 1,000 are foreign nationals. The precise details will be communicated to the relevant nations as needed.

The PDFNF has also deployed the 1st and 2nd Carrier Strike Groups to track the 14 aircraft.

Before we let you all go vote, however, I was reminded to let all our viewers at home know the rules. If either the Hellenic League or, this nation here, Infiny, wins this Geovision, the runner-up will host Geovision IX. If either win this Geovision, and the other is runner-up, then third place will host Geovision IX. While that's very unlikely, anything can happen here at Geovision! I also must remind you that any nation that doesn't meet the deadline will be disqualified from this Geovision and their votes will be null and void! So, remember, keep up to date! Without further ado, here is GEOVISION VIII: MALAO!!
