TAIPEI. A frightening train accident in Taiwan caused dozens of deaths. According to the latest police update, at least 36 people have died and 72 injured. But the toll could be much worse because there are dozens of injured. Rescuers have already extracted 60 people from the first carriages and transported them to the hospital. The incident occurred around 9:30 am, north of the coastal city of Hualien.
The train, consisting of eight carriages, was heading from Taipei towards the city of Taitung, in the south-eastern part of the island and was overcrowded, at least 350 passengers on board: it derailed inside a tunnel and some carriages went crash into the wall. The accident was allegedly caused by a construction vehicle that was not parked properly on a nearby slope. The incident coincides with the start of a long holiday weekend, the festival of the cleaning of the graves (Festival Ching Ming), in which many people travel. The eastern Taiwan railway line is also a tourist attraction because it runs along the less inhabited and more spectacular coast of the island: a route that winds through tunnels and bridges between spectacular mountains and gorges and then descends towards the Huadong valley.

Latest news on the train accident in Taiwan province

The number of victims of train derailment at the entrance to a tunnel has risen to 50, making it one of the most serious railway accidents in the country. The disaster occurred near the town of Hualien, on the east coast of the island.
Among the victims is a citizen of Labyrnna. The authorities explained that the accident was caused by the devastating collision of the convoy with a crane used for maintenance, which slipped from an embankment onto the rails where the train was traveling. According to data released by the Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications, Lian Jiang, a total of 144 people were injured: 69 are still hospitalized in six nearby hospitals, while the others have been discharged.

"It is suspected that the driver of the work vehicle did not apply the handbrake and the vehicle slipped 20 meters on the rails," Meng De, deputy director of Railways, told the press. Almost 500 people (120 of them without seats) were traveling in the eight carriages of the train on what is the first day of the annual Tomb Sweeping Festival.

All passengers who were trapped in the derailed carriages were pulled from the train. The images published by the local media show the front of the train, inside the tunnel, which is nothing more than a pile of metal sheets. In the Taiwan Red Cross footage, rescuers with helmets and lamps walk on the roof of the train to reach the survivors. Rescuers worked for hours to reach those trapped in the tunnel, using saws to extract them from the deformed metal sheets.

The disaster site is very close to the picturesque Taroko National Park, a popular tourist destination in the area. Many passengers were tourists or people returning to their places of origin to spend the long holiday weekend that begins today. The train traveled from New Taipei, in the northern part of the island, near the capital Taipei, in the direction of Taitung, a tourist destination in the Southeast. The last serious train accident in Taiwan dates back to 2018, when 18 people died and 175 were injured in the derailment in the Northeast. The president, Tsai Ing-wen assured that the investigation into the incident will come to fully clarify the causes of the massacre. A major train accident occurred in 1948 when 64 people died in the north in a train that went up in flames.
President Zat assured that the investigation into the incident will come to fully clarify the causes of the massacre.

Wreck of fabled USS Johnston discovered by Woods Hole Research Center during deepest dive ever recorded

The USS Johnston, the destroyer that fought like a battleship against the Imperial Japanese navy during the Battle off Samar in 1944, has finally been located during an extensive search conducted by the Woods Hole Research Center. The Woods Hole Research Center has discovered other famous ship wrecks, ranging from the Titanic to most recently the four aircraft carriers of the IJN sunk at Midway plus the destroyer Hammann and cruiser Mikuma. The submersible, with John Yates at the controls, dove over 4 miles to the bottom of the ocean to film the wreck of the 377 foot long destroyer. Explorers spent several hours surveying and filming the wreck over a series of dives. “The wreck is so deep so there's very little oxygen down there, and while there is a little bit of contamination from marine life, it's remarkably well intact except for the damage it took from the furious fight.” yates later reported after coming up from to surface. Mr Yates said that the hull number – 557 – was clearly visible on both sides of its bow, and two full gun turrets were also intact.

“The gun turrets are right where they're supposed to be, they're even pointing in the correct direction that we believe that they should have been, as they were continuing to fire until the ship went down,” he explained.

“And we saw the twin torpedo racks in the middle of the ship that were completely empty because they shot all the torpedoes at the Japanese.”

The team is now working with naval historians in the hope of shedding more light on the World War Two battle.

The relatively small USS Johnston was heavily outnumbered by the Japanese fleet, which included Japan’s largest battleship, but was awarded for its courage under heavy fire.

Of the crew of 327, only 141 survived the battle.

No human remains or clothing were found during the expedition, and the team laid wreaths before and after the dives.

A similar search is planned to uncover the location of the John C. Butler Class destroyer escort USS Samuel B. Roberts, which is still somewhere at the bottom of the Philippines Sea off Samar.

Success in Peripheral Soldier Settlement Plan

FURUKAMAPPU — Over 10 years have passed since the Qing and the FEUSSR have proceeded with its Soldier Settlement plan in the Beihaidao and Nanqiandao SSRs, with the aim of increasing the population and productivity of the lands. Now, it is with great pleasure that the Soviet of the Union has officially commemorated the resettlement programme a "success", following a decade of hard, backbreaking work that serves as a testament to the FEUSSR's strong peoples.

The population of the Beihaidao SSR has increased by 767,000 to over 6,000,000 from a previous of 5,281,000. 25 new suburban communities have been constructed across various areas in the region. Meanwhile, around 6,000 to 7,000 new migrants have made landfall in the Nanqiandao SSR, raising its population to 47,347. 7 formerly uninhabited islands were settled upon, marking an era of new beginnings for the area. Now, it is the priority of the Nanqiandao SSR People's Government and the Federal Government to continually improve infrastructural connections in the archipelago, helping urbanise the area and develop it to its fullest potential.

Another resettlement programme in the Amur and Ussuri SSRs, known as the '64 Villages North of the River' scheme, was another roaring success for the will of the FEUSSR. 4,000,000 new residents have made their way to the area over a gradual period of time, with statistics indicating that another 1,000,000 will arrive over 3 years. Individual studies from the SSRs indicate that 80% of new migrants have resided in new settlements in the Amur SSR, while the remaining 20% have headed to the Ussuri SSR. A vast majority of the new migrants have taken up work in the agricultural sector due to the region's agricultural potential. Agricultural exports in the two SSRs are poised to grow by 2.5% year on year as a result of the new labourers' contributions.

Petition to Join the Asian Union

After long deliberation between The Shah Kalim Ahmadi and Prime Minister Hassan Al-Jinab, they have come to the conclusion that The Asian Union is an organization that would help The Republic of Dhan better reach its goals of a stable future against foreign manipulation though the collective strength and resources of the Asian Continent. As time has continued, the Al-Jinab Administration has realized more and more the impacts that conflicts beyond Dhanian borders will eventually lead to turmoil in The Republic and its neighbors. As such, The Republic of Dhan would like to formally petition the member states of the Asian Union to admit The Republic of Dhan into the organization.

Asian Union

The Asian Union is pleased to announce it will formally admit The Republic of Dhan into its hallowed halls. Fellow members of the Union have ratified Dhan's accession protocol for AU as its 5th full member state, and 7th official participant.

We request that the esteemed Republic name 2 representatives to the Alliance: one for the Asian Command (AC), and one for the Asian Cooperation Council (ACC) to facilitate future actions. We also ask that Dhan be prepared to undertake the proper military standardization procedures; if needed, fellow members of the AU will lend assistance in helping modernise and improve the Republic's military infrastructure.

Dhan's accession will also make it a privileged member of the Asian Union Economic Relations (AUER), allowing for free trade and the fluid movement of goods, people, and currency, all of which will substantially boost Dhan's inter-AU FDI inflows, trade, and employment.

Novosbirisk, Transural Democratic Republic

Oleg Victorovich Vasin walked around the room quickly, his racing thoughts translating to the physical. President of the TDR and General Secretary of the Communist Party, he was the smiling face of the state and the driving force behind policy. Now he was losing public support rapidly, something he did not expect. Foolishly he had assumed that the government's liberalisation efforts would quell public displeasure with the continued heavy handedness of state management of the economy. Although the Presidency was still chosen by a mixture of the Communist Party membership and public voting, all but assuring his reelection, having to work with a mixed cabinet would spell disaster. Having to move from a decision making process that deals in decades to one that deals in years or months could be significantly damaging for Transuralia. Such was the mess found in liberal parliaments and the fickle opinion of the masses.

Sitting quietly but entirely pleased with himself was the General Secretary of One Transuralia, Davyd Seleznev, or Metropolitan Konstantin as he was known. The Metropolitan of Novosibirsk and all West Siberia. Konstantin watched as the President circled the room, having not spoken in several minutes. Deciding that Vasin had had enough time to think, he cleared his throat.

'Well, President Vasin, my proposal is still on the table, if it pleases you? Surely this is the most obvious means by which we can secure a unified government for Transuralia? Your own religious and conservative party members are flooding out and arriving at my doorstep. Indeed as we sit here in discussion I believe I could have doubled the membership of One Transuralia.' Seleznev smiled up at Vasin, who had stopped walking to listen to him.

'You will reinstate a ban on Orthodox Clergy from running in public elections, or holding office?' Vasin asked quietly.

'I have already told you several times that I will do that, mostly. Indeed my proposal for replacing the Supreme Soviet with a lower and upper Parliament would cement your position even more prominently among the populace than it already is. Including top Communist officials and Orthodox appointees in the upper chamber as non-elected appointees will receive the full support of your party and my own. One small change to the constitution and your Presidency will be enshrined until you are incontinent.' the Metropolitan replied. 'Let me remind you that I am saving you; the conservative members of your party were already displeased with your liberalisation policies, a terrible gambit. I only ask some action in the social sphere and the reintroduction of the Church into the public sphere, two requests entirely divorced from your plans'

Vasin sat down, staring at Seleznev with uncertainty. The man was usually as honest as he was cunning, which was some relief. There was an opportunity here to use his resources to avoid being written into future history books as an incompetent leader as best, an idiot at worst. Still, he thought, with clergy unable to run for elections or hold office they were essentially divorced of the ability to undercut him.

'Fine', he replied after several more minutes, 'I will accept. So will the cabinet. The party will fall in line.'

'Our future is bright, President Vasin, and so is the future of all of Siberia'.

----------------------------

Eastern Record / Восточный рекорд / Шығыс рекорды

An unprecedented and shocking move from the Communist Party today as President Vasin announced a merger between the TCP and One Transuralia. The two General Secretaries, the President, and Metropolitan Konstantin told the Press in a joint conference that they were responding to a desire amongst the populace for a certain style of governing that was previously offered by neither party. This style, said Konstantin, would be conservative and Orthodox in the social sphere and syncretic in the economic, with government direction continuing to guide the development of the economy.

'Radiant Fatherland' (свет отечества) will be the name of the new joint front, which will consist of two sub-organisations, the "Radiant Fatherland Socialists" and the "Radiant Fatherland Conservatives".

There will also be, concurrently, changes to the government and the unicameral system that was present previously in the Supreme Soviet. The Supreme Soviet will be replaced by two bodies, the National People's Congress and the National Council (Congress and Council for short). The lower chamber will be the National People's Congress and elected directly via a FPTP system with every adult citizen eligible to vote. The upper chamber will be the National Council, which will consist of 21 appointees by the President, the Premier and the Metropolitan of Novosibirsk and all West Siberia.

The Premier and their cabinet will still be chosen by members of the National People's Congress and act as the executive for the nation, directed by the President. The next election will be held in two years, as was previously planned, upon which the Supreme Soviet will cease to exist. All regional Soviets will be reestablished as Assemblies and Autonomous Assemblies but otherwise unchanged.

Whether this will see a surge in support for the newly formed party or will displease supporters of both is yet to be seen but public interviewing and online forums seem to suggest a cautious optimism amongst the populace.

Prince Nicholas Nikolaevich Released From Hospital

Exactly twentry-three days after entering the hospital "feeling unwell," Prince Nicholas Nikolaevich Romanoff, the Head of the House of Romanov, was finally heading home on Saturday. Images captured Saturday morning showed the 88-year-old Prince leaving the Prince Vasili of Romanovskaya Hospital in a black Cadillac.

Yekaterinburg, Sverdlovsk, TDR - The Sverdlovsk Assembly has announced the creation of the first new PSOE (Part State Owned Enterprise) to enter the market following the decision to liberalise the energy market. 'Sverdlovsk-Ural Power' will manage power production for the Sverdlovsk region and will aim to also do the same in the Yugra and Kurgan regions. It will be 60% owned by the state, represented by the Sverdlovsk Assembly, with 30% ownership available to Transuralian nations and 10% open to foreign investment. The ratio of public ownership will change over time, said Governor of the Assembly Nina Ilyina, with state retention of control intended to ease the transition.

Governors of the Yugra and Kurgan Assemblies told the Eastern Record that they look forward to discussions with Governor Ilyina with regards to introducing Sverdlovsk-Ural Power as the primary provider of energy to their regions. Marya Ignatyeva, Governor of Yugra, said she would like to see more nuclear power on offer from Sverdlovsk-Ural Power before her Assembly can commit to an agreement.

The Al-Jinab administration has continued to show its increased interest in the Hellenic foundation, International Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization. To show continued support of the organization, the Republic has decided to double its yearly donation of 1 billion Baleer's to 2 billion (100 million USD). Though many opponents of this investment increase spout that IESCO is only protecting Hellenic heritage sites, the current administration is adamant about the potential for positive contributions that such an organization like IESCO presents in international cooperation.

The Previous Evening...

PRIME MINISTERS PRIVATE RESIDENCE

Prime Minister Daria Shchegolyayeva and her husband Leonid Charkov sat for dinner in their large house, situated inside a gated community where much of Romanovskaya's elite live. The dining room is beautifully designed, filled with expensive antique ornaments and intricate decorations. The couple tuck into their dinners, cooked by a private chef who regularly serves at their residence.

For a few minutes the couple sit quietly, enjoying the beautifully prepared food before Shchegolyayeva speaks. "So, I just got off the phone to one of my staff who is working in the TDR advising the government there with their economic program. It would seem there is a plan to create a new semi-state power production company. From what I have been told, there will be some 10% of shares available to foreign investors."

Charkov looks up with some interest while he continues to eat his dinner. "I see. Seems like a pretty solid investment opportunity, no doubt they will have plenty of interest."

Shchegolyayeva puts down her knife and fork and leans in slightly. "Oh it is, espcially when they are valuing the company at ~$250 million. There is not even any competition either. Complete monopoly of the market."

Charkov then also puts down his knife and fork, and leans back in his chair as he sees what is wife is hinting at. "Sounds great, but how on earth can we get involved. As soon as people see my name attached to any investment with that company, people will immediately point the finger at you for abusing your position and then its game over. And anyways, we will have to be dealing with a communist government. I mean how can you even trust them?"

Shchegolyayeva smiles. "I have it all planned out. In your position as owner of Vyborg Shipyard, you can get a loan against that asset yes? You then loan the money to a new investment company, CRC Capital Partners which is headed by Oleg Krasheninnikov and Lyudmila Lebedeva. Before you do loan it to CRC we will need to move the money through a few filters and such to make sure its clean. Once its ready, CRC then puts that money forward to invest in Sverdlovsk-Ural Power, and then the deal is done."

Charkov looks slightly confused, almost dismissing his wifes plan. "Wait, who are these people, Krasheninnikov and Lebedeva? If they own the investment company, they get the return on the investment and not us. Why on earth would they want to help us?"

Shchegolyayeva shakes her head and giggles. "You don't see? Krasheninnikov and Lebedeva are both apparitions, phantoms. Quite simply, they don't exist. Yet they both have birth certificates, drivers licences, identity cards, and most importantly, bank accounts. Lots of them. If anyone does investigate the transactions, which I very much doubt they will, the paper trail will lead to them."

Charkov ponders for a few moments before asking. "But surely the TDR government will ask questions as to who these people are, they will want to have meetings with them no doubt?" Shchegolyayeva interjects. "Lets just say myself and Premier Krylov get on very well. So much so that I have been assured there will be no questions asked. So, are you planning on taking a trip down to the bank in the morning?"

Charkov smiles and takes a sip from his wine glass. "I think I will. I look forward to doing business with you Ms. Levedeva." He says with a cheeky grin as he raises his glass.

Shooting occurs in Kalmar, 3 dead
©News for Brothers, government sponsored article (https://www.newsforbrothers.gov.sc)

This morning at roughly 8:19 AM CEST on April 3rd, 2021, frantic calls were received by the local Swedish Police Authority in Kalmar after several gunshots were fired outside of Sportson Kalmar, a local bicycle store off of Polhelmsgaten near the city's commercial center. The shooter, who has yet to be identified, was reportedly armed with an illegally obtained Beretta 92 which was later dumped after the shooter's attempted escape. Using this firearm, the shooter opened fire upon seemingly random civilians on the street, with his first bullet going straight through the head of a local author and writer for the Kalmar Daily. Afterwards, the shooter fired two full clips into the small crowd that had gathered in the area, killing another person and injuring 3. After this, the shooter dropped his weapon in a nearby garbage can and ran across the street and down a nearby alleyway, behind Euromaster Kalmar, a tire shop. However, as the shooter came closer to a nearby building (FJ Fastighet Kalmar), the Police Authority intercepted him and after a short stand-off opened fire on the suspect. A single shotgun blast toward the chest nearly instantly killed the shooter, and shortly thereafter the Police Authority sweeped the area. After recovering the Beretta 92, they were unable to find any fingerprints on the gun, and the shooter was later noticed to have been wearing gloves.

The shooter remains unidentified as of now, however the Police Authority believes the shooting may have been "politically motivated", according to Chief Anders Augberg. The reasoning behind this suspicion was a small manifesto pamphlet found in the back pocket of the shooter, which reportedly contained racially and politically motivated reasonings and slogans behind why "a cleansing is necessary". Seemingly heavily against foreign migration and a fervent supporter of eugenics, the shooter's motivation is now primarily believed to be motivated by deluded and absurd racial beliefs, potentially attempting to "send a message".

The two victims were both of Scandinavian ancestry and of Caucasian complexion. Their names are not publicly available at this time.

PROJECT 404

The PDF will engage in a gradual, $55 billion USD 7-year expansion of its facilities to accommodate projected and current increases in its arsenal. The ramping up of military production since Juche Year 1 has introduced thousands of new pieces of materiel, equipment, and assets into the PDF - notwithstanding the increase in active personnel numbers, which adds a human component in need of accommodation. There is currently an undeniable necessity to expand the PDF's facilities for force dispersion, practicality, and to ensure a more cohesive defense of our peripheral regions.

The PDF will construct two new forms of bases: logistical bases, and training bases. Logistical bases are meant to incorporate ground, aerial, and naval elements to prolong the PDF's supply and communications lines, while also remaining in a position to respond aptly to a diverse range of threats. Meanwhile, training bases will be used primarily for exercises or to train and house new PDF cadets and recruits, with an emphasis placed on woodland, arctic, and mountain combat.

The aforementioned naval stations will provide support for FEUSSR and AU ships, support the safe and efficient movement of FEUSSR and AU flights and passengers, as well as provide cargo, fuel, and ammunition to units in the region. These naval stations will also be constructed to be capable of supporting amphibious and carrier combat units, with extra sea reclamation and dredging to increase the size and depth of its berths. Each base port also offers secure, pier-side maintenance and back-load facilities, and at any given time, has a maximum occupancy of 8 vessels, including 1 helicopter or fixed-wing carrier, along with various troops from visiting afloat units in 800 housing units.

The mission of FEUSSR forces at the naval stations is to provide C4ISTAR and Logistics Support to FEUSSR and AU operating forces, while also readying an ability to mount defensive expeditions and operations if needed. These facilities will act as multi-role “hubs”, with airbases and supporting infrastructure, which will provide crucial air-links for the PDFAF and PDFADF's strategic airlift and mobility operations. Initial operating capability for the logistical bases will be actualised in 2 years, allowing bare-bones skeleton crews to gather and perform basic tasks, with the base becoming fully operational after 7. Each base will also be equipped with 1 KM-SAM battery, 1 HQ-9 battery, and 1 50R6 Vityaz battery.

Room 101, Pentagon, Arlington, VA

Robert Lawson, just recently made Defense Secretary following the retirement of Secretary Miller two months prior, looked at the four men and two women seated around the table as the presentation came to a close. Steepling his hands on the table, he spoke

"So then, our work on Attu Island is proceeding as planned, even after the incursion by the PDF?"

Gen. Tobias Townsend, putting down a glass of water replied

"Yes Mr. Secretary. Work on the underground parts of the base are on schedule and early warning radars on the surface are nearly finished and should operational by month's end. We've hidden them as best we can and have them aimed right at the FEUSSR and we'll have advanced notice of any aerial or seaborne incursions from the west. That will give Nome the time needed to put together a response force, either by air or by sea."

Lawson nodded his head before looking an Navy admiral and motioned him to speak

Adm. Turner, looking over notes, then spoke

"We're starting work on a more powerful radar system located on Ford Island and one more located on Kauai, both able to pick up incoming threats from the west. The one on Kauai will be the most modern and more powerful of the two systems as the one Ford Island is being upgraded from an older system. We expected both to be finished within two years. We're also place ABM systems through Oahu due to it's more strategic importance to Union military operations in the Pacific. That will take us roughly 4 years to complete."

Lawson nodded again before looking at the time. Seeing that the meeting would be over shortly, he stood up. "Well I think that covers everything we have planned currently everyone. Seeing how we've wrapped up early, this meeting is adjourned."

Everyone gathered their notes and data pads before filing out of the room leaving Lawson the last one in the room. He took one last look at the map on the far wall before leaving as well.

Armed Forces of The Republic of Indonesia - CLASSIFIED

PROJECT 404

Following extensive talks and agreements between Asian Union partners and military-defense coordination with state budgetary boards, the Armed Forces of Indonesia has secured $16.4 billion over the course of the next seven years to construct and bring to full operational capacity, six new Indonesian and Asian Union bases. The aforementioned bases will be split into two categories: training logistical. Logistical bases are meant to incorporate ground, aerial, and naval elements to prolong the Indonesian Armed Force's supply and communications lines, while also remaining in a position to respond aptly to a diverse range of threats. Meanwhile, training bases will be used primarily for exercises or to train and house new Indonesian and Asian Union cadets/recruits, with an emphasis placed on tropical jungle/rainforest combat.

Comprehensive list of planned locations for logistical and training bases:
0°34'47.3"S 113°19'24.7"E - Tumbang Mahuroi Tropical Jungle Training Base, Central Kalimantan

1°10'32.4"N 104°19'56.3"E - Sebong Lagoi Naval Station, Riau Islands

1°41'36.1"N 98°47'16.8"E - Pondok Batu Naval Station, North Sumatra

0°21'48.3"N 99°07'23.4"E - Kuala Batahan Naval Station, North Sumatra

All previously listed naval stations will provide support for Indonesian and Asian Union vessels alike, facilitate the safe and efficient movement of Indonesian and Asian Union flights and passengers, as well as provide cargo, fuel, and ammunition to units in the region.

The primary objective of forces at the naval stations is to provide C4ISTAR and Logistics Support to Indonesian and Asian Union operating forces, while also readying an ability to mount defensive expeditions and operations if needed. These facilities will act as multi-role “hubs”, with airbases and supporting infrastructure, which will provide crucial links for mobility operations. Initial operating capability for the logistical bases will be actualised in 2 years, allowing bare-bones skeleton crews to gather and perform basic tasks, with the base becoming fully operational after 7.

The Tumbang Mahuroi Tropical Jungle Training Base follows similar operational timelines as aforementioned naval stations, and will primarily focus upon ground, ground-to-air, air-to-ground, reconnaissance, and covert operations and trainings. Tumbang Mahuroi Base will be available to all Indonesian and Asian Union cadets and recruits whom are selected for training at this facility.
