OOC:

The polls have closed, and the results are in!

A total of 21 votes were cast, and we will begin with the Roleplay Coordinators results first.

With 17 out of 21 votes cast, Infiny has been re-elected to another term as Roleplay Coordinator!
With 15 out of 21 votes cast, Romanovskaya has been elected to their first term as Roleplay Coordinator!
With 13 out of 21 votes cast, The hellenes league has been elected to their first term as Roleplay Coordinator!

Next up, we will have the Regional Cartographer vote. This was between Donau-bundesreich, who decided not to run for Roleplay Coordinator again, and Far eastern union of soviet republics, who is serving as the incumbent Cartographer. With 13 out of 21 votes cast, Donau-bundesreich has been elected to serve as Regional Cartographer!

Next up, while somewhat moot at this point, is asking the approval of the previous Historian, The hellenes league. This was successful with 16 out of 21 votes cast. However, as they have been elected to the position of Roleplay Coordinator, this position is now currently vacant, and a further election regarding it will be held.

And finally, it was asked if the region approved of the incumbent Events Administrator, Vashnal. The region overwhelmingly seems to think so, with 20 out of 21 votes in favor, and they have been re-elected to a new term!

Please be sure to thank the new members of the Regional Administration! Furthermore, if any of you are interested in running for Regional Historian, please TG me here or message me on Discord by the end of the week. And finally, we also wanted to say that elections will be held a bit more regularly, so the next elections will be held on 30 June, 2021.

Thank you all. :)

Archon Serafim Architis and the rest of the Hellenic diplomatic mission sit across from President Temel Yildiz of the Mehmed republic

Temel: “Serafim...It’s been 20 years since two leaders from our nations have spoken to each other like this. In such professional form. It’s nice to know that as Archons have come and gone, I have remained here all this time.”

Serafim: “President Temel, it has been a long time. I want to establish proper communication, a dialogue between our governments. What I think we need to look at is expanding travel. We have had a gentle agreement but opening up travel brings in investments, business. Opportunities.”

Temel: “opportunities...yes. Now before we continue, I’ll have the opportunity for you to apologize. To apologize for accusing my country of genocide.”

the two men stare at each other, with Archon Serafim looking away ultimately

Temel: “You need to apologize for such disgusting tactics. That’s what this meeting about, Archon. It’s also about how the Hellenic League holds Constantinople. It is rightfully ours.”

Serafim: “Mr. President. You’re view on history is misguided. The Ottoman Empire fell. Your nation organized itself as the successor state. The ottomans killed Ottoman Greeks. You killed Armenians. Additionally Byzantium is ours. The Treaty of Moscow clarified that.”

Temel: “Such bold claims. You’re lucky...we didn’t do more.”

Temel sips on a cup of coffee. Archon Serafim looks at him...staring hard.

Temel: “You’re lucky we aren’t continuing now. We are done here.”

Serafim: “You’re right...we are done. You are done.”

The Hellenic delegation leaves the building, and proceeds back to the airport bound for Athens.

Serafim: “That man...is going to be the death of me. It’s never going to get better.”

The Al-Jinab administration has continued to show its increased interest in the Hellenic foundation, International Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization. To show continued support of the organization, the Republic has decided to double its yearly donation of 1 billion Baleer's to 2 billion (100 million USD). Though many opponents of this investment increase spout that IESCO is only protecting Hellenic heritage sites, the current administration is adamant about the potential for positive contributions that such an organization like IESCO presents in international cooperation.

New York based Turner Construction contracted by city of Miragrad to build new Cathedral of the Martyred

Turner Construction, in concert with other major companies in both the Union and Danubia, has released a statement that has been contracted by the city of Miragrad to build what will be one of the world's largest cathedrals. Modeled of an unrealized design done by Edwin Lutyens before World War II, the center section of the cathedral will feature a dome with a diameter of 168 feet, making it largest than the dome of St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican. The project, which is slated to cost as high as 1.7 Billion Dollars, will take several years to finish and will also feature a small memorial to the lives lost in the Danubian Civil War on all sides, per a request from government officials. CEO Gavin Turner hopes that breaking of ground can begin in the next few months and work will start soon after. Most, if not all employees will be hired from the city and surrounding regions near Miragrad.

Government to launch anti racism campaign to address rampant discrimination

March 30th, Cairo - Today the Egyptian government launched the campaign "We are all African", an anti racism campaign aimed at combating the rampant racism that plagues Egyptian society.

Refugees – particularly Black refugees from Sudan, Eritrea, or sub-Saharan Africa are often subjected to discriminatory behaviour. Racial slurs are casually and frequently used to taunt or simply to describe. There is a tendency in Egypt to associate beauty with fairness of skin.

This has also been a problem that plauged Egyptian cinema. With African characters often demoted to servants or comedy relief characters. Anyone was a fan of old Egyptian cinema, is familiar with the character “Osman” who is often a dark-skinned man working as a servant for a “beh”, a “basha” or an “afandy”, all of which are titles of pride. In other occasions, “Osman” is a Nubian actor who takes the role of a house guard, servant or cook, a depiction many Nubians consider “a black spot in Egyptian cinema.”

The campaign is aimed at combating this problem, by raising awareness of racism that dark skinned Egyptians face, and by working to preserve their cultures. To this end, the government has launched several TV ad campaigns, and is working with Nubians to compile a Nubian dictionary, teach Nubian and African history in school curriculums, and to offer Nubian language courses. Furthermore, the Egyptian government has indicated that any movie that will contain "ridiculing" depictions of Nubians will not be allowed to be shown in Cinema

"Egyptians are as African as any other African people, for centuries we have played a leading role in the well being of the continent, and have supported several colonial liberation movements that freed african people from the evils of the colonial masters. The fact that we don't appreciate our African brothers and sisters and continue to discriminate against them is a catastrophe and unacceptable" Interim president Shawqi said in a press conference this Sunday.

Cannabis Fully Legalized / กัญชาถูกกฎหมายอย่างเต็มที่ / 大麻完全合法化

Despite recently being listed under Level 5 under the new classification of substances under the Drug Enforcement Administration of Indochina, Cannabis has now been legalized and decriminalized across the Confederation. With a vote of 152 FOR and 31 AGAINST, the move to legalize cannabis for medicinal and recreational purposes passed in the United Assembly of the Confederation. Chairman Khan I signed off on the bill shortly after the passing. The bill not only legalizes cannabis in any use, but also sets to free those imprisoned for past possession or dealing of cannabis. The dealing is still regulated, however, as a supplier or producer needs a license to do so. A license is not required for the consumption and non-commercial purchase of cannabis.

The Holy Council of Emirs meets on 18th Arab Independence Day | مجلس الأمراء المقدس يجتمع في يوم الاستقلال العربي الثامن عشر

31st March | Riyadh: The Holy Council of the Khilafati Emirs, more commonly known as the Council of Emirs, today met at the Royal Palace of Riyadh, the residence of Al-Rashid, the ruling royal family of the Emirate of Najd. The gathering, hosted by Salman bin Nawaf Al Rashid of Najd, was attended by-

Tamim bin Isa al Hakim, Emir of Bahrain
Muhammad bin Zayed al Maktoum, Emir of Dubai
Muhammad bin Hamad al Nahyan, Emir of Abu Dhabi
Muhammad bin Abdelaziz al Qasimi, Emir of Sharjah
Hamad bin Muhammad al Thani, Emir of Qatar

Khalifa Muhammad bin Omar Aladeen, Emir of Hejaz & The Caliph

The Council met to discuss on various regional and national issues, including the grant of the title of 'Emir' to the current Sheikh of Yemen, Ali ad-Din ibn Ayyub, which continues to be an exception to all other Sheikhdoms by being the only one to have a hereditary royal family and not an elective one. The council also met to discuss on what the stance of the Caliphate should be towards the world going forward, following the controversial bill passed in April 2015 which officially provided equality from the state towards all sects of Islam, which led to the 4 month long Sunni-Shia riots, causing 100+ casualties and damages of over 60 million USD.
The Council has also decided on the establishment of the Royal Anti-Corruption Committee, to be headed by the Emir of Abu Dhabi.

Ministry of Education, Novosibirsk - Minister of Education, Dinar Voronova has announced changes to the nation’s migration policy in conjunction with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Office of the Premier. Now any international students who wish to study in the TDR will be permitted to a four year student visa and a pathway to citizenship after one additional year of working full time, provided they can pass a Russian language exam. This marks a big change from the government’s former policy, which would have only provided student visas for a year at a time and not have counted time spent living in Transuralia under a student visa towards the five years required for citizenship. The government also announced that the five years working full time needed for citizenship would be reduced to three years working or four years studying for those from Cccp- and other Siberian nations.

National Assembly passes the Arab Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage & Dresscode) Act, 2020 | مجلس الأمة يقر قانون المرأة العربية (حماية حقوق الزواج واللباس) 2020

31st March | Riyadh: The National Assembly today passed the Arab Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage & Dresscode) Act, a controversial bill that has been under constant scrutiny and debate for the past year.
Under this act, Muslim women in the Caliphate are no longer necessitated by the law to wear any form of religious clothing, except in socio-religious gatherings. They also no longer require a male guardian's permission for travel, employment and divorce. In spite of being unpunishable by law, Muslim women are still requested to don the hijab or shayla when going outside (Stricter forms of the Muslim veil aren't necessary).

The bill was passed with a majority of the Members of the Assembly of People (مجلس الأعيان) voting in support of the bill, despite several desperate attempts by the opposition from the pro-Islamist parties from Najd and Yemen, as the assembly reportedly went 'wild'.
Earlier today, the bill was also approved by the Assembly of Royals (مجلس النواب), despite initial opposition, with the Sheikh of Qahtan staging a walkout, over what he considers an 'atrocity' against the people of the Caliphate.

Hundreds clogged outside the Assembly buildings, demanding the government to immediately revoke the bill. The cities of Jeddah, Muscat, Fujairah, Buraydah and a few others saw minor protests, while big rallies were taken out in Medina, Riyadh and Sana'a, disrupting everyday lives. Multiple organisations and even a few famous individuals, including the House of al-Saud, an influential family in Riyadh have filed cases against this act in the Supreme Council of Magistracy, the highest federal court in the caliphate.

Meanwhile, many groups, including many progressive Islamist think tanks have applauded the government on taking the step, as they believe that steps like these are necessary to achieve the goal of an Islamic Caliphate in the modern world.

The National Assembly in the headline refers to both the Assembly of People and the Assembly of Royals.

Eunice Energy

The overall construction of the plant is moving along steadily. Ground has been cleared, space made and construction is going well.
We anticipate a smooth construction barring delays.

The Hellenic Investment Corporation (EEE) is now working with us closely regarding the project, with both Eunice and the EEE working with Bulgaria, Kosovo and the northern parts of the Hellenic Peninsula down to Thessaloniki to upgrade the existing grid network.

We wish to work with Donau-bundesreich on working with us to achieve this goal and expansion. Additionally
working with the Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator (HEDNO) will be crucial in this project. The modernization of network control will be crucial for not just in relation to the plant, but for the health of the national power grid and to help standardize.

Benefits include:

the improvement of the reliability of the Network in all of Hellas, (apart from the Aegean Islands, Ionian Islands, Cyprus and Crete and the Eastern Anatolian Nations), the quality indices and the detection of the weak spots of the Network

resource gathering and saving, more effective human resources management during faults and better and faster restoration of outages

the decrease of the loading of the facilities in increased demand periods and the restriction of power and energy losses in the Network

the upgrading of the management possibilities of Networks, studies and training of the relevant staff

A total investment from the EEE fund of $400mn will be placed starting out, with Eunice investing an additional $300mn The Hellenic Central Government intends to invest $400mn, with a total investment of $1.1bn. These funds will be issued over the next 3 years (156 RL days) as this project moves along.

The islands and nations not included will be receiving future projects with the same standardization implemented.

The Belene Nuclear Power Plant, as well as future projects such as wind farms and solar farms in the Aegean, Anatolia and elsewhere will be connected to a truly smart grid and will enable the Hellenic League to get closer to its goal of energy independence with the utilization of safe & effective clean energy.

Watching the aftermath of Bill B-7's enactment
©News for Brothers, government sponsored article (https://www.newsforbrothers.gov.sc)

Despite valiant efforts and protests from parliament members of the three member nations of the Brotherly Union, the Grand Parliament enacted Bill B-7 much earlier in March, effectively returning power at the government level, centralising and cementing the Grand Parliament as the one true government of the Union. Of course, the revocation of many of the individual member nation's parliament rights (including their laws taking precedence over government laws) has provoked extreme outrage in the respective parliaments of all member nations, and several attempts to veto Bill B-7 were proposed to the Grand Parliament by local loyalists and staunch conservatives, all of which were thrown out by Prime Minister Busk. The most prominently outspoken politicians in the nation that are standing against this bill tend to be from Sweden, particularly resonating with the Sweden First party and it's contemporary conservative, right-leaning parties. Many Swedish people and politicians are fed up with the Union, believing themselves to be inherently the most valuable nation to the Union, and the "heart" of the Brotherly Union. Holding this belief, most Swedes believe being treated equally and being held to the same standards as their "less important" contemporaries in the Union provokes ire with many of the staunch Sweden First party members.

Although the true impact of Bill B-7 is yet to be seen, as the Parliament has not acted upon it's newfound power, the national unrest grows dramatically each day the government remains silent.
