Well what I say really depends on the populism of each part

Eurasies wrote:Well what I say really depends on the populism of each part

You'll have to define populism now

Laver Island wrote:You'll have to define populism now

I understand by populism that it is that political tendency that is said to represent the wishes of the people

In general, the "people" refers to the masses, and also from what I understand there are more poor than rich

Eurasies wrote:I understand by populism that it is that political tendency that is said to represent the wishes of the people

By that logic every political party is populist

Although the definition is contested, generally populist parties are defined by their tactics rather than beliefs, by calling themselves a party of the people against an elite of some kind

Most populist parties are also break-away or protest parties, like Nyborgerlige, who is more or less a protest party who think that DF didn't go far enough in their anti-migrant policies

Nyborgerlige is also a right-wing populist party as they claim to represent the average man and Danish values and that they will fight the current elite who they claim are smothering Denmark and whatnot

Nyborgerlige does not benefit from getting the rich to vote, they benefit by spreading racism and islamophobia and using it to fear-monger, the Danish poor will believe their economic anxiety and insecurity is caused by "job stealing migrant", that their welfare aid was cut to support migrant's welfare etc and vote Nyborgerlige

Although to say that all political parties are populist is a bad generalization, it is really populists who need votes and begin to promise people things that they will never deliver.

Populism is a kind of magnet for the masses, which results in the stupid voting for those who promise the most things

But if people can exploit their way to power they will, this is why you need to be smart and make informed decisions regarding politics, otherwise democracy can easily be undermined, looking at Poland 😬

I can't disagree with that

Speaking of all this, I remembered a video that said the following :

The candidates that political parties postulate are not the best to govern, but the best to win elections
