Echo released Vara's hand and tried to push Moonglow off while also trying to defend Moonglow and the pups from Vara and the soldier.
Vara was in shock for several moments before deciding to resort to what could be considered a contingency plan. As Jonathan Blinds had once done, long ago, Vara psychically commanded Echo to calm down.

Echo suddenly stopped struggling and lay down shyly.

Vara began to wonder if perhaps these strange instances of unintentionally reading the minds around her was something to worry about, perhaps an unintended issue from the clash of psyform and succubus physiology.

That certainly earned him some points in Carmelia's mind. She turned to Byron and Kelsee to ask about the man.

Aerlanica wrote:The reason as to why the animal was slain was evident; the crew of the ANV Perserverence then began to dig graves in their dozens. So cruel was the apparent "insult" to the dead, that it warranted such a callous act against a creature which certainly didn't know better. It was also clear that grief was running high, and perhaps the individual pulling the trigger used the act as a twisted, sadistic and foul form of catharsis. The corpses, now clear of scavengers, were laid to rest within their graves before words were spoken and they were buried. It seemed as though the strange arrivals though the cherry-scented environment seemed a calm enough resting place for their comrades, and a fitting enough place for them to rest. Among the number of the congregation was what looked to be a naval officer, hat off his greying hair, who led the funeral function, saying a few words before moving onto the next grave, and paying respects to all the soldiers.

They did not question the sudden absence of the flame too much; while they were indeed not at all comfortable with the strange environment, they knew better than to obsess over it; they would look into it later, right now they had to find the refugees and bring them back to safety.

The drones found the humans as humans...well...roughly humans; all the Humans were ever so slightly different from normal humans, posessing a few different genetics, as well as a biocode; the observers would know this as a sort of biological passkey required to use certain technologies. However their drones investigation of the ship itself and the guns found no such piece of tech requiring the biocode, raising questions about it's purpose.

The Lizardfolk were relatively "natural" in the sense that they were not genetically engineered. While most of them had tails, not all of them did, but nearly all of them had quite colourful scales. Speaking about scales only covered their limbs, back and head, while their torsos were instead covered with a firm leathery-type material. The organs were similar to that of humans despite a different structure...which was strange, considering the most definate distance from humans. The only real difference in organs was that some posessed gills, signifying some variations within the species itself.

The caprine-folk were rather strange; from initial investigation, this species of creatures seem to have some form of moderate regenerative abilites, both within bone structure and organs. This is evident as their minor wounds are rapidly healing. Furthermore, they're much taller than the other humans. Additionally, there appears to be some form of firm honour culture to their actions, and their broken dialogue.

As for their clothes...the clothes are normal synthetic fibre; nothing strong or out of the ordinary. In fact, to the standards of anyone from the island of Galliadurm, it's quite primitive, akin to what a member from the 21st century would think upon gazing at attire and textiles from the 16th century.

Upon looking closely at the ship...it appeared the fire-suppression was a purely manual affair, conducted by hozes connected to specific tanks of the foam. As for the atmosphere of the planet, while the Lizards seemed a bit on the breathless side, at least superficially, due to a lower oxygen content, they seemed to have an ok time breathing the atmosphere.

The information that was delivered to them via through the insectoid probes gave the officials three separate issues on their hands which they'll have to deal with. The first and most important is the recovery of a important trinket that were likely seen on the necks of the people these individuals gracefully buried, the shared sentiment on that matter wasn't lost on them. The officials decided it would be best to wait for them to move along away from the impromptu burial site so that further incident may be avoided. The second issue to be resolved is the matter revolving around who exactly are these individuals and where they dropped from. In spite of Galliadurm not being one of the many nations who've gone on to extend their reach into space, this country's officials are quite informed on the matters concerning cosmic travel. A traditional path they've long since rejected.

The third and finally issue, as far as this situation is concerned, is to ensure that the quarantine zone is not encroached upon by the armed individuals who are searching for their pods. The first attempt to do this without stirring up problems will be the officials using the aforementioned probes as guiders who will lead them to their pods. An adequate amount of probes gathered in specific places around the site to form simplistic arrows. They were pointing in the general direction of these probes and appeared in their line of sight.

In reality, it was a small contingent of very human, very normal Rangers who had caused this supernatural activity. Their skills, funnily enough, were little more than the result of strict and exhaustive training, and innovations in camoflage and small-unit tactics with mobile units.

While this was happening the Aerlanic army pivoted to face the Mongolyn (Rei Khan) and begin attacking their troop columns and supply lines, weakening them before striking at them in a decisive battle.

The Mongolyn were forced to move slower to protect the caravans more.

The Aerlanics pressed this, never giving the Mongolyn respite, as the Hartian riders conducted lightning fast raids on the various war bands; they would launch a series of sudden strikes against various small contingents of Mongolyn when they were camping, often drawing a few of them into a chase before luring them into an ambush set by Rangers and Aerlanic archers.

"Thanks Mandrat on that chaos weather report. Now we have with us noted chaos theory export, Mandrat, to talk about Mandrat. She's been described as a...something something whatever...."

"Oh ho ho." Laughed another Mandrat on the screen, now in a tweed jacket and spectacles. "The Mandrat is VERY eccentric, may I correct you." The Mandrat with a tweed jacket had taken out a megaphone which popped out of the TV, turning it on to emphasize the very. Surprisingly, this did not wake up Snow's pup. "She's on everyone's side!"

The driving Mandrat adjusted her bus driving cap, saying, "Yep! I sure am a wholesome country goddess from Oateria!"

"The Mandrat is also extremely venomous and a bite can cause immediate death. Stay far away from it as possible."

"Wait, venomous bite? I didn't know I could do that...Hold on, let me check my manual."

She opened up the glove compartment and a paper brochure doubled its pages rapidly until the whole bus was filled with them.

"Let's see...Warranty, 'taking care of this celestial', ooh-this one's about romancing me. Why, thank you manual, but I'm not that interested in a relationship with an inanimate object. Plus, I'm married to the job. Although some companionship would be nice to look for back home-"

The bus was now stirring back and forth due to the steering wheel being free-flying, although not dangerously.

"WILL YOU JUST LOOK AT THE ROAD?"

"Oh, right! Silly me! The breaks! I knew I forgot to summon something on the bus..."

"THERE'S NO BREAKS?!" All the Aerlanicans screamed in unison.

"Of course there's breaks! Jeez, folks, can't you cut me a little slack?" A gag drumline was heard immediately after, to the groans of the rebels.

Mandrat quickly folded the manual and slowly pressed the breaks a bit to make a turn towards their destination.

"Hey, be happy, I'm giving you chaos earlier than planned!"

As they set out into the long voyage towards the Banderviss capital, a small squadron of Oatserians and a couple Aerlanican rangers were in a small village of Kujesk, when they saw the walking army of the dead hurtling towards them.

Aerlanica wrote:The appearance of several of these arrows startled the crash survivors, and for a time they refused to follow them, most likely out of fear and suspicion, before a significant portion retreated back into the ship

After the individuals from the pods were gathered and returned to the ANV Perseverence, the grave site was left unattended, however various symbols were present to mark the graves.

In the end, everything worked out well for the most part. These foreigners were able to retrieve their pods and proceed with establishing some sort of foothold in that part of town without much incident. Therefore, the probes that were there to provide direction to their destinations began to decrease in number, the few who remained returning to where they were prior to continue with their silent observations. A collective sigh of relief is given around that time then, glad they are these foreigners did not make the mistake to venture past the quarantine zone. It would've been a formal disasters for both parties involved. Why? As with everything else who has attempted to breach the zone for whatever reason, these foreigners would've been devoured by the anomalous warp that continues to expand throughout that part of Itaial at a snail's pace. As for us? We would've likely been blamed for that, even if there were attempts to lead them away from it. As was the case when the insectoid probes gathered before them to form an X ahead of them.

However with that out of the way for the moment, it was time to fulfill the first objective; retrieving the little trinkets around the necks of the bodies the foreigners buried. Instead of deploying the usual agent to go about this task, armed individuals showing up out of no where surely would've struck ire considering the fleeting tensions that are already there, distortions smaller in size compared to the ones responsible for quelling the earlier fire appeared before the impromptu burial site. Pseudopod-esque tendrils, no larger than a lion's tail, extended from the distorted space. Wasting little time with retrieving the aforementioned trinkets without so much as disturbing the dirt filling the graves. Nor the bodies within. Phasing came in handy.

The important trinkets that were then pulled into the distorted spaces by the tendrils happens to be small - relative to the sizes of each body's neck - augmented reality wafer devices. Like the probes, these trinkets weren't metallic in nature. They looked to be made "purely" from clay while also carrying the air of significant technical progression. Had they been made of metal, one wouldn't be able to distinguish them from the Focus worn by Aloy in those lovely games.

Galliadurm wrote:-snip-

The "trinkets" in question, taken from the necks of the fallen strangers, appeared to be roughtly Semicircular in nature, with evidence that a second semi-circle portion of the trinket was broken off. It was hung around their neck. They posessed three pieces of information.

- There was an Initial, then a name, followed shortly by three letters and then an eight digit number. For the humans, the letters were "AER", for the Lizard-folk it was "LAZ", while the caprine humanoids were assigned "SHA".

- Letters assembled in the form of "Blood Type:" followed by A, AB, B, O and either a "+" or a "-" symbol.

- The letters: "NAVY".

It appeared these were identification tags for the sailors who had met their end. However, they were only recovered from the sailors; from the civilians, all they managed to gather was the occasional necklace.

The sailors and the civilians under their care began setting up a camp and securing their foothold on their crash site. They dug holes in which their troops now sat, somewhat concealed, as well as the beginnings of simple trench systems. Scrap metal and wood scavenged from the blasted trees was also used to suppliment their cover, while arms were distributed to male and female volunteers within their number.

When the dark of night came, most their number rested, however when dawn first broke, the troops almost immediately began organising, before they set out once more in various parties, most likely to survey their area. Upon seeing the drones, they called out to them, seemingly believing they were something that could listen to them.

Bandervai was turning their own citizens into weapons of war. Every few hours a purple wave ran over the ground, and the killed arose with one linked mind, controlling thousands.

(My mistake, I'll clarify this. What was taken was the Perädu Torqs from Itaial's deceased citizens, the bodies of the dead(?) refugees weren't touched. o-o)

On the other side of things, as the night passed on into the morning, the fields generated by the S.P.H.F.Ss were gradually reclining back into the buildings now that the danger brought on by the vessel's crash has died down. At least, the first hazards which were seemingly avoided; the vessel crashed a fair way into the edges of the forest bordering Geamiot. Crashing there caused an insignificant amount of damage compared to the damaged caused had that vessel ended up in the middle of the dergua instead. Unless the S.P.H.F.S activated itself on time, that is.

With caution, the people within Geamiot began carrying out their morning business as usual. All while making sure they strayed not towards the area where the crash occured. Less they invite danger upon themselves. That means most of the early joggers who preferred jogging through the forest had to move along a different route, and with the rest of the citizens being informed and kept up to date on the matter at hand via through the news. Among other specific actions that were taken around that time.

Now back to the probes. As some of them began calling out and speaking in their native tongue, their words were appearing out of thin air in an organised fashion next to the probes in Gallianese text. They were being translated in real time by those who are listening. New language man, they aren't going to miss out on the opportunity to archive new tongue. This lasted all while they spoke, of course. And once it looked like they were finished, a response came in their own tongue: "Good morning.~"

It should be due time to mention the attire of these combat troops, most likely marines in the sense that they were nautical combat troops, and not special forces. All of them wore grey fatigues, as well as a sort of curiass that covered the torso, soulder pads or pauldrons to protect their shoulders, as well as two plates attached on hinges that were there to keep the upper thighs safe without hindering mobility. Their shins were also protected by shin guards, as well as their forearms. Various pockets and pouches were attached to the large curiass that covered their torso posessing all manner of material and spare ammunition, while backpacks were also present. An optional jacket was also worn by some, and the humans wore boots; the caprine humanoids, of course, had their hooves, while the scalely nature of the Lizardfolk's feet voided the need for footwear.

The patrol consisted of five troops; one human male and a human female, one caprine male and female, and then a Lizardfolk male; they discovered the males had less, and more muted, colours on their form, while the females had more bright, colorful scales.

The two caprine entities looked to each other and spoke in yet another language, practically causing the linguist officers to drool with delight; what bountiful gift! However, they had to deal with a currently tense and suspicious human, who looked about.

"Hello? Who's there? Come on out!" The soldier checked his rifle briefly before looking to the surrounding foliage. He let out a laugh, half mocking and half nervous. Spoken with a respectful demeanor without any apparent need to combat this man's authoritative stance in spite of the idle and presumably minor threat that was just given to them. Subtle silence follows their last words, a period which only lasted for a good minute before the probes went on with returning to their behavioral patterns as insects.

Mandrat continued down the long road to Aerlanica City, overhearing the rebels speaking war stories.

They got into position, but nothing could truly prepare them for this.

Even with the training and discipline of the rangers above, the Oatserian soldiers could not possibly prepare for what they saw: hundreds of zombies, ready to kill and infect. The Oatserians slowly backed away, and signaled to the rangers to start running for it, but a small distance in front of the village was a small little badger. At this time the badger was not respected as much in the land as it would come to be. The dead looked at it for a moment, behind them Malin controlling them confused at why they had stopped, while the zombies were trying to figure out what to do with it.

The badger growled.

Suddenly it leapt at one of the zombies, gnawing into its insides, but going for the limbs first. Malin oversaw this and unleashed the power of the crystal.

The dead man did not rise. Malin looked on with horror.

"LANT LAVA! LANT LAVA!" Screamed one of the soldiers. In common, one of them translated: "THE LIMBS! GET THEIR LIMBS!"

The badger was still rampaging on the corpses, but it was soon joined by arrows from the nearby trees and Oatserian soldiers, filled with absolute power, running towards the dead at full speed, taking out arms and legs with quick swipes. They were making headway towards the dead and towards the Queen of Banderviss, who was now fleeing.

Two Oatserians and one Aerlanic all on horseback chased after them, as the Oatserians and rangers finished off the horde, now with a new furry striped friend.

The chase was on.

Aerlanica wrote:On their transit, one soldier approached Mandrat as she drove.

A group of six rangers, three pairs, moved in the direction. They moved at night, rested in hidden places by day, and all in all tried to slip through the lines of the Banderviss to find and kill this necromancer, whom posed a very real threat; no matter what battle was fought, the enemy would always gain more troops in the form of the dead.

"Nope, just need enough to take a small sample."

Tabitha quickly disinfected a syringe before walking over to Ameli with a small glass slide.

"I'm going to prick your finger to get some blood, ok? Just enough to put on this slide." She explained with a smile. Ameli could see that Tabitha was very excited, excited about finding out something new and practically vibrating with anticipation.

"What?"

"You know? A psionic, a Psyker...we've got plenty of names and havent decided on one yet, but you can do...cool stuff with your mind, yeah? Thats how you sat that...thing-" he pointed to Echo, who was very, very calm, "-down. You spoke to him."

Byron took on a somber tone.

"Them scars are worse on his chest and most his internal organs are plant-based replacements after he got smashed...but a lot more of us would be dead if it wasn't for him."

Carmellia looked to Kell, well, where he walked off to, then to Byron.

"Why is he alone then?"

"He's...always been a bit distant after that day...we've said we'd let him grieve but...I dunno...I think he likes the solitude." Kelsee murmured.

"Who's this?" one other druids asked, one of the older ones.

"Kell."

The appearance of several of these arrows startled the crash survivors, and for a time they refused to follow them, most likely out of fear and suspicion, before a significant portion retreated back into the ship

For a moment, the Galliadurm officials feared that they had inadvertedly scared the ships crew away from finding the pods, leaving the individuals who were from these pods to wander aimlessly and without rhyme or reason. However the reemergence of the sailors, now accompanied by several armed vehicles in varying states of damage, abated their concerns as the strangers assembled various larger task forces, most likely to follow these arrows to battles that were not there.

Soon, the strangers fielded their own drones; they were much larger than the Galliadurm drones, and purely metallic and mechanical, taking the form of quadrocopters. They followed the arrows to the various pod landing sites, and then continued their search around the place, threatening to breach the quarantine zone. The troops, with the threat of battle gone, sent out parties to gather their disparate people and bring them back to the ship, who's crater slowly began to grow more populated with structures both makeshift and prefabricated.

After the individuals from the pods were gathered and returned to the ANV Perseverence, the grave site was left unattended, however various symbols were present to mark the graves.

The Aerlanic-Hartians also continued to elude the Mongolyn who only ever managed to find small scouting parties and the Hartian horsemen, who used their tricks against them.

"Commander-"

"Lillian." The woman in question stressed again, not looking up from her documents.

This forced the Mongolyn to stop earlier and earlier, to set up camp...until a commander had the idea to start a wildfire. It flared into existence. Soon, they wouldn't be able to ambush.

Lillian looked up. "Send them in, and could you ask for the cooks to send us some coffee?"
