ROLE PLAY POST

“Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls... Gian. What are you doing? Is that a KarpěStomŕ shirt?”

“Nope”

“Are you going to set it on fire?”

“Nope”

“That’s a lighter”

“Yup”

“You have always been an excellent liar, Gian. Anyway... it’s Sunday and you know what that means! The 21st matchday of the 2020/21 Alfa League is about to start! Check out last week’s results before the last update!”

“And do not support KarpěStomŕ!”

“What’s wrong with KarpěStomŕ, Gian?”

“I don’t like their shirt”

Gian sets fire to the shirt, the smoke activates the general alarm. Everybody leaves the studio except him.

“See you next Sunday. I guess”

The 2020-2021 Alfa League was the 119th edition of the Alfa League, the top professional Talamian football league. Alla Fofokoy were the defending champions, having won their twelfth league title the previous season. Fortis Epops secured the title at the last matchday, becoming the first Talamian club to win the Alfa League for 30 times. Fortis Epops returned to victory after two season, while Afestosja was relegated five years after their last second place.

The season ran from 13 September 2020 to 2 May 2021.

The games were all played on Sundays at 3:00 pm and broadcast by Pro Diorux Sports.

Events

Fourteen teams competed in the league – the top thirteen teams from the previous season and the winner of 2019-2020 Beta League, Saniis 1900.

With four teams each, the most represented regions were Mentrenalio (Clinepalas United, SF Lampride and Ptoco from the capital Clinepalas, and Alla Fofokoy) and Uperinde (Afestosja, Hellas Anen, Ighli and the newly promoted Saniis 1900). Crocora (Acroscope and FK Katacra) and Pento (KarpěStomŕ and PAS Geitorisma) counted two teams each, while Ulepops (Fortis Epops) and Epicesi (Epacra Delphis) had only one team to represent them. For the second cosecutive year, the Iseremia region found itself without a representative.

After previous year’s unexpected victory, Alla Fofokoy did not operate on the market, confirming the totality of the squad that brought the Archers their twelfth championship.

Continuing the re-foundation thanks to the funds of the new owner Tape Amilla, KarpěStomŕ invested in a new coach: Dunastratos Prosfato, the young man who two years ago led Ighli to victory in the Beta League and to the seventh place of last year. Prosfato was also assigned with more managerial tasks, with control over the scouting and the youth sector, for a new idea of team management.

On the other hand, Ighli’s president decided to sign Polemiste Kuon as the new coach of the team. This is Kuon’s second run as the coach of his hometown’s team, nineteen years after the first one.

After previous year's disastrous season, ended with a 13th place and the relegation play-offs win over NK Kornelius, the team that bought the most players was Acroscope. Of particular note is the arrival on a free transfer of Therapon Dermakros from PAS Geitorisma, who scored 13 goals in the season. The Lumberjacks, to compensate for the lack in attack, bought the young promising Bhexian forward Hakara Tipene, author of 14 goals. Clinepalas United and Fortis Epops both changed coaches, given their respective second and third places of last year.

After a season always played on an equal level between KarpěStomŕ, Clinepalas United, Alla Fofokoy and Fortis Epops, it was this last team that won its thirtieth title. The race for the third star was then won by the Studs of Fortis Epops. Clinepalas United, with two bad sops in the last days of the championships, finished fourth. At Fofokoy she was stopped by a draw against Clinepalas United and saw the dream of winning the title vanish for two years in a row. KarpěStomŕ continued his growth process, finishing third for the first time in the history of the Alfa League.

On the other side of the table, Katacra experienced a terrible first round, only managing to save themselves by winning the play-offs against Liptelj Union. The real negative surprise of the season was Afestosja, who had finished second in the league just five years earlier. The Afestosja Anarchists were ranked last, having a record eight games in a row and failing to win in the entire second round. Ighli and Ptoco also gave a great test in the championship, finishing respectively seventh and eighth, behind Hellas Anen and PAS Geitorisma.

For the first time in history, after the creation of the DSAFF Football Federation, Fortis Epops and Alla Fofokoy qualified for the inaugural edition of the DSAFF Champions League. Also affiliated with the IFCF, the Alfa League made available one spot for the IFCF Champions League (taken from Fortis Epops) and three for the IFCF Challengers Cup (taken by Alla Fofokoy, KarpěStomŕ and Clinepalas United).

Lignus Fonč of Hellas Anen was the top goalscorer, with 25 goals scored, followed by Stern A'apt of KarpěStomŕ with 24 and Arees Kenon of Fortis Epops with 18.

Introduction

The maps of the Democratic Socialist Assembly are opt-in maps that allow nations to have defined borders and enhance their role-playing (if they chose to do so. No one is making them). To have a spot on our maps,
see How to Get on Our Maps for more details.

How The Maps Work

Every 15 days (half months), all official DSA maps are updated to reflect current stats and regional membership.

Our Maps

Base Map

Political Map: A map showing the borders and boundaries of all the nations of the DSA that are on the maps.

Climate Map: A map showing the different climates of the world. Scroll below the map to find descriptions.

Highland/Alpine - Depends on elevation. Precipitation depends on surrounding climate and wind patterns (If the base of the mountain is dry, expect that side to be dry. If base is wet, expect it to be wet). Cold resistant plants like perinnials, , sedges, mosses, and lichen, and there will be a Linktree line where, once you are high enough, trees cannot survive and will not grow. Where this line is depends on temperature and latitude, with the line decreasing in height the closer you get to the Poles.
Real Life Examples: Himalayas, Andes, other mountainous areas

Topography and Bathymetry (Elevation) Map: A map showing the elevation of the land and oceans

Geographic Map: A map showing what our plant generally looks like on a satellite. Includes names for many major areas, climates, and mountains of our world.

Ocean Currents Map: A map showing the ocean currents of the world and their temperature.
Blue= colder water and drier air heading towards the equator. These areas are nutrient rich and act as fishing hot spots.
Red= warmer water and wetter air heading towards the poles. In tropical waters, these are where coral reefs and coconut palm trees can be found.
Black= no significant temperature change

Bodies of Water Map: A map showing the names of major bodies of water and location of rivers

The Lakes, Seas, and Oceans are named after those who have contributed great amount of work and time to the DSA. The bigger their contribution, the bigger amount of water they get. The Ocean of Solidarity is not a player, however, but a major ocean from the previous map.

The Rivers, however, can be named anything. This is left up to the nation who has said river flowing in their lands

Wind Patterns Map: A map showing the prevailing winds of the world, including the ITCZ, Subtropical Ridge, and Polar Front.

Time Zone Map: A map showing what time it is in different places around the world

Continental Map: A map showing the continents, subcontinents, and regions of the world

Plate Tectonic Map: A map showing the major plates of the world and their motions, along with where to expect most earthquakes...or would they be DSAquakes?

Volcano Map: A map showing where the volcanoes of this world are located, whether active, inactive, big, or small

Extreme Weather: A map showing where can can expect extreme meteorological (weather) events

Map of Seasons: A map showing what season each part of the world is in. These are the current seasons for the months of March - April

Tropics

Wet Season - The time of year when most of a region's average annual rainfall occurs

Dry Season - The time of year with little rainfall and little humidity

Middle Latitudes

Spring - Days and nights are around 12 hours long each with day length increasing and night length decreasing as the season progresses. Temperatures are increasing, snow melts and creates run-off, and plants begin to bloom. Storms are not uncommon.

Summer - Days are longer than nights with day length decreasing as the season progresses after the solstice. Temperatures are high, plants are in full bloom, and hurricanes/cyclones can occur.

Autumn - Days and nights are around 12 hours long each with night length increasing and day length decreasing as the season progresses. Temperatures are decreasing, deciduous trees start shedding their leaves, and the harvesting of crops are at their highest.

Winter - Nights are longer than days with night length decreasing as the season progresses after the solstice. Temperatures are low, most plants have died, animals are migrating and hibernating, water freezes, and humid areas receive snow.
Polar Regions

Summer/Midnight Sun/Polar Day - When the polar region is facing toward the sun and the day lasts for more than 24 hours, with the Sun being visible at local midnight. For specifics on how long it lasts, consult the LinkCivil Twilight Map below.

Winter/Polar Night - When the polar region is facing away from the sun and the night lasts for more than 24 hours. For specifics on how long it lasts, consult the LinkCivil Twilight Map below, but in reverse instead of it measuring twilight, it measures midnight).

Civil Twilight Map: A map showing where on the planet Civil Twilight (when the sun is 6 degrees below the horizon) occurs and for how long. Aka places where it stays sunset for a long time.

Aurora Map: A map showing where on the planet one can expect to see auroras

Coordinate Map: A map showing the latitudes and longitudes of the world

Trick Or Treat: In the spirit of the Halloween season, the Democratic Socialist Homeowners Association has provided a map of the neighborhood (I turned the DSA political map into a neighborhood map). This is the map as of October 31st, 2023

How to Get on the Map

Every nation that moves to the DSA has the opportunity to be added to the map upon request. The map system is designed to reward and encourage active participation and longevity with more flexibility on the map, meaning nations that remain inactive in terms of RP will likely not get everything they like in their requests.

Map Criteria/ Requirements To Be On The Map

To join the map

To stay on the map

  • Post any kind of In-Character role play at least once a month and somewhere reasonably accessible/public

Specifics about the activity requirement

  • It should be In-Character, aka in-universe. Could be from someone's perspective, a news report, organization postings, a tweet, etc. The Ministry of Role Play promotes in-universe narratives over top-down worldbuilding (especially since NS easily provides one for you). However, if you only do top-down worldbuilding, we allow it to meet the requirement if it is at least two paragraphs of content.

  • Can be any length. Can be as short as a tweet or as long as a novel. Pretty easy metric.

  • If you're about to be removed for inactivity, I'll try and give you a one-week heads up about that. If it happens a 2nd time relatively soon after, I'll give you another heads up. A third time, though? I won't tell you cause you've already been told twice. Gotta start remembering yourself.

  • If you're removed for inactivity, you won't be able to reapply to the map for the following 15 days.

Opt-In To The Map

LinkOpt-In Here
  • You can either let the DoC pick where your nation will be (they base it on you Factbook, your national animal, anything and everything to try and get a good location) or you can upload an image of where you'd like to be.

  • By opting-in to our maps, you here by agree to all terms and conditions listed in this dispatch

Expansion

If you would like to request a larger size (an expansion), please telegram the DoC with your new request. If they approve, you will need to opt-in to the map once again so the expansion can be properly documented. Your first expansion is free, however all following expansions will require that you be active in RP as expansions are rewards. What is considered "active" would be a significant amount of RP within a certain time frame prior to the expansion request.

Also, No Long Chile, which means no hogging a continent's coastline. You can start and expand to and along the coast line, but I will not let you take up a significantly large portion of the coast with no inward expansion.Unless you're blocked by a mountain, be cautious only expanding along the coast.

Lastly, we do limit how large nations can be. The limit was larger in the past but had to be reduced so new players could still have desirable locations. The current limit is 500,000 pixels on the map, or 4,961,250 square miles/12,852,450 square km) (smaller than Antarctica)

What Else Can Be Requested? What is Restricted?

  • Size of Your Nation
You may request a specific size for your nation so long as it is below the requirements listed above. You may request a specific location, access to water, landlocked status, etc. so long as it is within reason.
You're not going to start big. You're gonna be a normal starting size.
LinkClick Here To See Some Examples
Realistically, your nation isn't going to start out the size of Russia. What nation ever has?

  • Capital City and Major Cities
You can request I add a city of yours to the map. Just don't do too many, just the biggest ones.

  • No Puppets...Kind Of
Residents may only have 1 NS account tied to the map. However, if you want to have multiple nations on the map, you can request I indicate some of your land to be recognized as another country. I'll include a little indicator underneath the nation name that it belongs to you and you can name the country whatever you like.

  • Border-Gore
Please don't do any. While you can do some (with my permission), perhaps keep it more internal and not be your national border. I consider it cheating the expansion system because it deters anyone from being near you, effectively making surrounding territory yours and that's not fair. I also count Portuguese colonization (tiny trade post claims everywhere) to count because it has the same effects.

  • Relocating/Moving Your Nation
First off, please don't. Extremely rarely would an IRL nation entirely relocate their whole nation. Capitals change, yes, but not an entire country. If you're going to relocate, at least put effort into it and write up some good RP explaining the relocation (and preferably more than just "My people don't like it here anymore" or "Oops, we just nuked the area, gotta go". Nah, that's lazy and you know it.

But if that's too much, then opt-out of the map and be off for a month before getting back on.

These next two don't really relate to the above, but are informational none the less

  • Distance
Our world is 25200 miles (or 40555 km) in circumference. The map is 8000 pixels long. This means that each pixel on the map represents around 3.15 miles (5.07 km). The hypotenuse of each pixel is around 4.45 miles (7.12 km).

  • International Waters
International waters start 12 nautical miles off the coast of a claimed territory. If you are using one of our 8000 pixels long maps, that starts 4 pixels horizontally/vertically away from you nation. Other directions depend on your angle.

The cartographers reserve the right to refuse to add or to edit any nation or feature on the regional map. They are a God with unlimited cartography power!

Removal from the Map

  • There are a few ways a nation might be removed from the map.
    1) It ceases-to-exist (CTEs, that is when a nation doesn't log in for 28 days and their nation is deleted); OR
    2) It departs the DSA for another region; OR
    3) It requests removal; OR
    4) They don't fulfill the activity requirement

  • A nation that has been removed from the map and wishes to be on the map again is treated as a new arrival and must opt-in to the map once again in order to be on there.

What if I accidentally leave the region?
It happens. If you accidentally leave and come right back, you don't lose your spot. Although if you're gone for, like, more than a day then yeah you lose your spot

What if I CTE but refound really quickly?
You still lose your spot. Your map spot is directly tied to having an NS account and, just like we consider CTEing to be resignation from the DSA Congress, we also consider it resignation from the map.
In addition, you had an entire month (or two if you put your nation in vacation mode in the settings). A log-in to NS takes less than 30 seconds and you'd only have to do it once a month. It's a very easy requirement to meet.
To get back on the map, you will need to opt-in again and will start at starting-size, which means expansions need to be earned back.

What if if I was REALLY active?
We make an exception for that. For players who have been actively engaged in DSA RP for a long while and have expanded borders, if they CTE and come back and opt-in before the next map update, they will get their full borders back. If they wait until after the map update, they can only get half their borders. If they wait until the 2nd map update after, though? Doesn't count. That's a full reset.

There has been a change to the Village RP map, that being that we now have 2 new NPC villages

Ever wanted to live a quiet peaceful life? Awake in your cottagecore shack next to your beautiful lesbian ent wife? Venture to town to fetch some meat from last night's hunt of the nighthorde? Go down to the pier and do some fishing, listening to the sounds of the murky creatures lurking below? Maybe go into the woods to pick some mushrooms while the birds chirp the sounds of the dead? Well now you can!

Here in the DSA, we have two role-play universes: Main RP and Village RP. The Main RP is, well, our main one with nations and global cooperation and the horrors of daytime television. Village RP, however, is different. There are no nations, no global interactions, none of that. It's all smaller and in an alternate universe of RP.

  • Players can create a village or town, indicated by dots on the map. There are no borders, just villages. You can determine the extent of your influence through discusssion and roleplay with other villages. To claim a spot, directly message Student Loan Debt with the village name and where you'd like to be

  • You can expand by making more villages. However, you are limited to 3 villages max

  • There will only be 1 city, that being a neutral city anyone can do RP in called Orbonne

  • There is no magic cap. Village RP allows you to be high fantasy. Go fight monsters, have your village be entirely populated by talking pumpkins, open a shop that only sells magical dental floss, anything. Just don't go and take over the world.

  • The vibe is pre-industrial fantasy, meaning technology advancement is limited to being pre-industrial. No electricity and all that jazz

  • The northern islands have a warm and wet climate while the southern islands are colder and frequently get snow in the winter. As you climb mountains, you'll also find them to be colder and with greater chances of snow

  • This RP is for players who intend to roleplay. Any player who has been consistently inactive (like not posting for an entire month) will be removed from the map.

  • There are 3 NPCs: Orbonne, Torutiya, and Oceris. Beyond their descriptions, players are allowed to make any story they wish in them

Orbonne is a city on the North Island with a diverse population of 200,000. The center of civilization, the city provides many amendities to its people. Home to many shops, facilities, and the Orbonne University, the city is a thriving home to any.
Torutiya is a collection of small villages constructed by pirates and islanders
situated directly next to eachother. It acts as a haven for pirates with no formal sense of government or hierarchy except the more riches you plunder the more prestige you have.

Oceris is an underwater civilization found in the southern waters of the region. A once thriving land civilization, it sank below the waves of the sea and continued to live on as a sea nation. Its people continue to voyage beyond their home to explore the isles, curious about the world despite their isolation.

Absovenya - Kehidupan
An Tir Glas - Dridia
Cid-vivar - Isidro Labrador
The Finno-Estonian Empire - Ţylrad
Mate Uniumburgia - Natsumoto and Sakana Harbour

The Shaded Isles
When a village dies, it does not simply stop existing. If only it were that simple. Its energy lives on. A village may fall for many reasons. Its people may be scattered, may have been struck with plague, or perhaps something more sinister. Whatever the case, the village exists in some form which lives on in the Shaded Isles, a realm beyond ours that reflects our reality and remains strange and obscure

(OOC, this is a fun way to acknowledge villages being taken off the map. If it goes against your canon then just ignore it)

United syndicates of sol

Flag has been updated for the spring equinox - It's a small shift, just like the distinction between "winter" and "spring" in arctic environments - Compared to temperate environments, there are far fewer phenological events evident to the human eye, and they tend to happen later in the year. As such, "spring" and "fall" are rarely even considered to apply to the arctic. Among these phenological events, however, are vernal ice algae blooms, which occur as irradiance on sea ice increases. While microbial phenology events are often overlooked when compared to ones as glamorous as flowers blooming or autumn leaves falling, the ice algal blooms are among the first phenological events of spring, and the algae themselves provide for many of the ecosystem's higher trophic levels.

The colors of the flag were based off of these remarkable algal communities. Throughout the year, the flag will update a few more times to reflect other interesting phenological events and seasonal changes in various arctic and alpine environments the nation was based on.

Let's Play A Game

Hi everyone. Your Director of Community Affairs here and I have a proposal. Have you ever heard of a game called A.I. Dungeon? It's an adventure game that uses AI to produce a story that you navigate. Imagine it like a TTRPG except it's just you. While you can do it for free, the free version is limited. Luckily, I have the paid version so why not play it? And, to be inclusive to our non-Discord comrades, we can do it on the RMB.

On the RMB, players can make choices as to what to do. You can either Do something or Say something in the story. After, the game will generate an in-world response to it. How we'll play is I copy down what the AI says and you all can decide how to respond. This will be first come first serve for choice inputs. Also, if you chose the previous action, I'll have a preference for someone else to go next (so 1 person doesn't dominate the whole game).

Let's start off with the setting. Pick one of these.

-Mystery
-Apocalyptic
-Zombies
-Cyberpunk
-Halloween

Hey y'all!

I could use some help with DSA Day celebrations.

What I need from you is any art you want featured in our special issue of Solidarity. It can be anything at all. Poems, stories, paintings, a flag redesign... I'm giving you free reign. I want to know why y'all choose to put down your roots here.

Make sure to keep it (relatively) clean though for those pesky moderators.

Submissions will be accepted until April 5th.

Have a great and wonderful day!

Your Councilor of Domestic Affairs,
La Pays De Soliel

For those confused, DSA Day (the celebration of the founding of the DSA) is on April 7th. It will mark the 10 year anniversary of our founding.

Greater cebu and Free Van Chet

Y'all on Discord are boring and never post your RP to the RMB, so I'm gonna post one I just finished. I'm exploring part of the Focus System the Ministry of RP put out this month.

Fanta: "From Debtian Public Radio, welcome to Noir Leans, an investigative radio broadcast that leans forward and looks into the strange, the ancient, the esoteric, and the noir and bizarre in our world. My name is Fanta. I specialize in esoteric studies, occultism, and enchantments."

Dr. Francesca: "My name Dr. Francesca Mariana Consuela Gonzalez Damasco Garcia Ramón Lucia Gwenburg Gomez. I specialize in anthropology and linguistics. Today we will explore talismans, both their history and culture within the Isles.

Talismans are a frequent object found throughout the Isles. An ancient craft, talismancy is a common staple in Debtian culture, with talismans able to be found in most Debtian households. Most talismans assist in minor ways, from reducing acne to improving mood to inspiring creativity to many other means of assistance. Almost all Debtian civilizations had restrictions on who would possess talismans, ranging from clergymen to monarchs to nobles or to other classes. Following the Great Daznix War in 1871 and the growing literary field of the Debtian Gothic, attitudes towards talismans had altered with the image of a talisman shifting away from the concept of nobility, righteousness, and leadership that it had in the past. The Great Daznix War was the first war among the Isles to feature large amounts of soldiers from both sides making use of enchantments with the war forces supplying them to their units. For many soldiers, they grew deep attachments to their talismans as they were relied upon in times of distress and violence, many soldiers dying with tight grips around their talismans and imbuing stronger and more complex enchaments into them.

When the war had ended, talismans had become important parts to the lives of soldiers, many of whom refused to return them to the government due to the deep attachments they had made to them. War doctors and nurses who had seen the importance of talismans to the soldiers they cared for voiced their concerns against their confiscation as many soldiers suffered from PTSD and their talismans becoming a source of comfort for them. The war had resulted in talismans being spread across the Isles and into the homes of civilians, with talisman carriers no longer being the powerful in society but now being in the hands of fathers, neighbors, workers, veterans, and becoming parts of homelife. The image of talismans being of nobility, righteousness, and leadership had changed to images of personal connection, comfort, as well as of changing class dynamics as the public interest in talismans grew.

Fanta: "Post-war literature also played a part in making talismans more widespread in demand. Non-Fiction novels about the war that spiked in popularity after the war such as Garnet Sky by Harrison Latham and Izora's Ward by Izora Pursglove gave detailed accounts of the importance of talismans both on the front lines and in the medical tents and put talismans in the public mind. The Debtian Gothic literary movement after the war had made itself distinct from other international gothic genres with Debtian authors placing high importance on talismans both to their plot and characters. Their frequent presence in gothic stories has made talismancy a staple in Debtian Gothic.

In the time referred to as the Talisman Boom, talisman presence in homes and literature created a demand for talismans among the populace with a boom in talisman stores and services occuring in the decade following the war in the 1880s. Talismans continued to grow in popularity as they were now accessible to the middle class and stores began to cater to middle class populations. By the 1900s, talismancy had grown to become its own sector of the economy in many Debtian nations. In modern times, talismans also have shopping seasons, increasing in purchase around Jeb!mas and in April and May around the end of the school year as talismans are popular among students, especially during finals time. Students use talismans for a variety of purposes; increasing energy for pulling all-nighters; expanding memory skills for memorization; relaxing muscles to prevent writer's cramp, and many other ways to help with test taking and studying.

Debtian talismans can take on a variety of shapes and forms as any object can be enchanted. The most popular objects that are requested are rings, necklaces, coins, and piercings, usually in the form of earings. Tattoos are another popular form of Debtian talismans with both the ink and the tattoo itself after the procedure being enchanted to offer similar protections to those of object talismans. Recently the tattoo talisman has been a topic of debate among the clergy in the Isles. Competiting ideas of Debtian traditional religious practices and Jeb!ist religious practices affect religious communities around the Isles as to whether it is acceptable or not for spiritual and religious leaders to have tattoos, especially talisman tattoos.

Talismans are sometimes associated with certain symbols in Debtian cultures. For one example, the Magari. In the country of Orlyn and surrounding countries, the Magari is a popular symbol to see both on talismans and on buildings. The symbol, a 4 ring circle with 4 spikes ripping open to the outside, is believed to help channel metaphysical threads for talisman creation. The Magari may be etched into a talisman or be drawn on a surface with a talisman placed in the middle of it. The symbol frequently appears in the field of parapsychology as well, with beliefs that it helps in the intercepting of metaphysical echoes. Enchanters in Oryln sometimes have the Magari tattooed onto their lefthand in belief that it helps them in the channeling of metaphysical threads into the items they are enchanting.

Linked below is an image of the Burghest Family flag. The Magari, while dating back thousands of years ago and named after the peoples that the symbol originated from, was incorporated into the Burghest Family symbology in the 1600s. The family widely practiced enchanting and served many of the nobles and clergymen in the Orlyn area. The incorporation of the Magari into their flag was a political move to solidify their posistion in noble society and give the impression that their family line dated back to the Magari themselves and thus made their craft more legitimate."

Dr. Francesca: "The Talisman Boom affected not just the economy, literature, and culture, but also affected the dead. The 1900s and 1910s saw a rise in graverobberies across the Isles as talismans would be stolen off the bodies of the dead. Before the Great Daznix War, when talismans were limited to the powerful, graverobberies of talismans were harder to achive as the rich could afford heavy table tombstones, vaults, mausolea, and iron cages around graves. However, the Daznix War and Talisman Boom resulted in more people being buried with talismans who couldn't afford the same protections. The practice of "Talisnecromancy", as the newspapers labeled it back then, arose at this time, which involves working with talismans once owned by those who have died. While this was never a wide practice, newspapers sensationalized the concept and riled up public fears about the idea of their loved ones being defiled and their souls made enslaved by "necromancers".

The public, horrified by this, were determined to protect their graves and begun to install mortsafes around the same time. However, just as soon as mortsafes began to appear, so did concerns over the costs as many could not afford the extra protections. Alternatives to this was the establishment of Graveyard Patrols where people would patrol graveyards to prevent graverobbery. Urban cemeteries and cemeteries of richer communities would build watchtowers to house patrolers who would live at the cemeteries for full time watching. Graveyard Patrols would become the default option and mortsafes would fall out of practice but can still be found at times. Watchtowers went on to be a well enjoyed part of Debtian cemeteries and are now a common sight in many. Most serve more decorative purposes as many cemeteries cannot afford to host patrolers and so many towers are either unaccessible or are small enough to where they can only be used for look out. However, many urban and richer cemeteries have large enough ones to host patrolers and are centerpieces of the graveyard."

Fanta: "Talismans, while popular store items, can be found in darker and fradulent fields, from the blackmarket to cornerstores. Many cheaper talismans are passed on as authentic but possess no enchantments or have grown weak enough as to be effectively inusable, frequently found in tourist gift shops, bodegas, and by street vendors. Talismans that bring about negative effects or greater positive protections with negative effects are, while not illegal, very looked down upon as talismancy is a craft that many Debtians believe should only offer positive protections and negative effects are seen as disrespectful to the craft, tradition, and spirit of talismans.

Cursed Talismans, ones that offer negative effects, and Corrupted Talismans, ones that offer greater protections with negative effects, as they are popularly referred to as, are not often found in many stores out of fear of turning away customers and are mainly found anywhere from online sellers to blackmarkets. Cursed talismans offer a variety of negative effects; weakened energy, irritable moods, increased anxiety, making one more likely to become distracted, weakened immune systems, and other harmful effects. Often these are placed on individuals without their knowledge, sometimes as pranks and other times with malevolent intent. Corrupted talismans offer a variety of stronger positive protections with negative effects, anywhere from increased strength to faster movement to protection from a wider range of diseases but with neagtive effects like any of the listed before negative effects.

Most cursed and corrupted talismans are not intentionally made but are made through error and sometimes general practice. Enchanting comes with the risk of making a negatively enchanted object in all enchanting practices. While more common among amateur enchanters, they are possible among professionals even when every precaution is made against it as there is always the possibility, with the possibility growing with more complex enchantments. However, some do created cursed and corrupted talismans purposefully to use against others or to sell.

Talismancy is an old and respected practice in the Debtian Isles. From war to literature, to the market and the graveyard, talismans are a unique aspect of Debtian culture that have affected our history and way of life. This has been Noir Leans from Debtian Public Radio. I am Fanta."

Do you have no idea what to do to join Congress? You are most certainly not the first. We now got you covered with this simple guide on how to do it.

Step (1): Read The Congress Section of Our Charter

Our region has its own Charter that regulates what is allowed in this region and what is not. Obviously, if you want to be a member of government, you should know what the rules are. Click the link below to find out what it means to be a Member of Congress. If you don't read that section and then tell us you did read it when you try and join Congress, you're not allowed to act like you didn't know what the rules were. That's on you, buddy.

Step (2): Join our Off-Site Forum

Our region has an off-site forum that we keep important government stuff on, from legislation to Charter Amendments to elections. To be a MoC, you need to have an account on it. This helps us guarantee that no one is cheating and trying to get two or more votes in congress. It's pretty easy. Just make an account and that's it. Click on the following link to get to our forum.

Step (3): Fill Out The Opt-In Form

The final step is to actually apply for congress. Just fill out the form at the following link and our Secretary General (the person in charge of letting people into Congress) will see if you're good as soon as they can.

Great, now we can finally begin the story.

You are Rogelio, a cyborg living in the the futuristic city of Zail. You have a bionic arm and a holoband. You're walking down the dark city streets while neon lights flash brightly above you. As you pass an alley you see a man in a red robe and hood. He looks at you and his hood falls back revealing a horrible face: a mass of rotten flesh with only a few rotten teeth and black eyes.

"Heeeeeeey!"

Now, what should we do?

Members of Congress

I've come to realize over the past year that the DSA Presidency actually was useful in that it served as a supervisor role, which has been a needed thing for quite some time now apparently. Not wishing to exclude the RMB side of the region, I post the conversation here as well.

I propose the idea of bringing back the Presidency. What do you all think about that? Bringing back a posistion that looks over the executive government. The bullets below were 3 of the responsibilities the President served before their abolishment:

● Coordinating the activities and efforts of the Cabinet
● Monitoring the Cabinet for efficiency and effectiveness
● Executing or delegating the duties of vacant Cabinet members

Having been in the Cabinet and Council for quite some time as the Administrator-Emeritus, I would say that these responsibilities have been lacking in the leaderless Council since the abolishment of the Presidency. So, I would propose bring it back.

Heyo RMB friends, so glad to be here, I'm totally not being held hostage by Student Loan Debt. (Please send help.)

Let's ask the man his name.
