Increased security was present on Friday, 3/19/21, around Congressional Hall in Tofino

TOFINO - The Zamastanian Intelligence Service (Z.I.S.) released a memo to the public after President Moreau's administration raised the terror alert across the country to orange (fourth highest) following a series of terror attacks in Constantio and Kossmil this week, both of which targeted public transportation. The attacks in Norasa, Constantio yesterday left at least 48 dead and consisted of bombings on city buses, while a series of detonations destroyed underground metro trains in Dabatta, Kossmil, killing at least 50. Thousands were injured in the blasts, which constituted Constantio's deadliest ever terror attack and one of the worst ever to strike Kossmil.

President Moreau extened his condolences both to Constantio President Tony Blanian and Kossmil President Kuznetsov and stated in a public remark that the government of Zamastan was offering their services to help in the recovery and reconstruction effort, as well as the counter-terrorism operations that are sure to ensue.

The Z.I.S. has identified numerous threats, saying that "credible threats are present and intent on causing harm to Zamastanian citizens." There are grave concerns amidst the intelligence agency that groups like Al-Fijar sleeper cells, extremists linked to the West Chanchajillan regime, and cells from groups originating due to the Syraranto Civil War, have made threats online and through previous violent action and rhetoric. It has been nearly a year since the last terror attack on Zamastanian soil, which occured on the Tregueux metro in April of 2020. However, the September 27th, 2020 bombing of Air Andaluni Flight 553 originated from Jade Harbor, and dozens of Zamastanians were killed in the downing of that flight. Online activity suggests heightened terrorist movement, and credible threats have been made against public transportation and federal institutions like the Congressional Hall.

Security has increased around major public transportation hubs in larger cities, with security around government institutions in the capital also being increased dramatically. Airport security has been ramped up, as have random checks and procedures at ports of entry.

President Moreau passed an executive order declaring that holds on asylum seekers will be instituted for the next three weeks, to which more liberal leaning critics are saying will lead to a humanitarian crisis as refugees wait to enter the country, but more conservative supporters say will keep the country safe.

MOREAU TO VISIT ALBARINE FOR EMERGENCY ADULA SUMMIT

Following a series of diplomatic meetings on his home turf, including with President Brett Highland of Nebetia at the Zian Presidential Mansion on Tuesday, Moreau will be traveling to Saint Raneau, Albarine, to meet with Chancellor Sadie Melhaven and reconfigure tense relations with WEDA leadership. The latter half of 2020 and the entirity of 2021 has thus far presented challenges that has WEDA leadership operating at a standstill as diplomatic relations in South Adula are strained with increased Drambenburgian militarization, complications with De Yuaneze intervention, the collective organization of SEIAA, and an escalating crisis with collapsing governments.

The Zamastanian government today, in accordance with State Department guidelines, classified the governments of Qolaysia, Alecburgh, Ireqa, and Zalluabed as authoritarian governments. Qolaysia's government under President Abiel Kennard has been surpressing pro-democracy protests in recent months, as has the government of Queen Diana in Alecburgh. The State Department added stipulations to the statement, saying that although Kennard's government instituted democratic elections and removed the influence of military oversight, they were quashing movements against Kennard's constitutional reformation which passed without parliamentary approval and extended term limits.

In the context of Alecburgh's government, which was disolved in accordance with a decree from Queen Diana in January, has not yet been reinstated despite the monarchy's promises, leading the State Department to declare the country and authoritarian dictatorship until such time has passed that elections install a new government. Ireqa and Zalluabed have also been accused of crushing dissent, with Zalluabed specifically conducting raised earth campaigns against villages in its Hisrea province suspected of harboring "rebel groups".

Moreau's conversation with Melhaven, which will be during his first ever state visit to Albarine, is expected to be conductive of all of these major international instances and incidents which have formulated Moreau's foreign policy throughout the course of his presidency.

Moreau has limited his public response to crisises in South Adula during his term thus far, but he has been rather vocal when it has come to supporting regional allies like Albarine and Emmiria specifically, denouncing military action like the Drambenburgian militarization of the region and Zalluabed's Hisrea campaign and interception of shipping vessels, and making certain that WEDA officials are staying up to date and alert on allied response in the region. Zamastanian fleets in Sulifa and New Elkland have remained on standby for mobilization during the past several months in response to escalating tensions.
