Hi. I'm new here.
Uhhh...nothing new. I watched Lupin the Third: Legend of the Gold of Babylon a few hours ago.
Welcome
I'm watching Maid-sama
Well I hope all of you guys have had a fantastic April but we are moving on moving on to may, and April showers bring mayflowers so I couldn't think of a better anime this month besides Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day. I wish everyone a fantastic May.

Dang That's a lot, FMA was a great show, I didn't know there was an anime version of Les Misérables, I only watched the play.
The united anime kingdoms and Leaf Ninja
Ah, ok that sounds interesting.
Anybody else here like Made in Abyss? Season 2 was announced just recently.
Whats it about
The story is about a girl named Riko, living in an orphanage meant to train orphans to become delvers (trained spelunkers that recover artifacts) who finds and befriends a boy android she names Reg and they descend into the "Abyss", to find her mother Lyza.
It's an adventure...filled with deadly Eldritch abominations, tear-jerking moments and other horrors...so be warned, it manages to balance gut-wrenching despair with uplifting hope. I also recommend the anime and the movie first. They actually water down the manga.
Sygma and Turanian Utopia
Will check it. Thanks
Oh Made in Abyss...the blissful on the surface but painful on the inside. Yum. Can't wait for season 2.
I found out about Made in Abyss Wandering Twilight and Made in Abyss Journey's Dawn a few weeks ago. Now I'm not sure if I should rewatch season 1 or jump in to the movies.
Odd Taxi is really good. Its.... Odd. Full of all sorts of quirky observations. I need to catch up on the last couple of episodes but once you start watching you will be hooked.
i enjoyed Made in Abyss. Have the movies been released already? if they have its likely they are not getting a release here. The only anime movies that get general release here (Australia) in cinemas are the Fate Series and SAO movies.
I actually don't know. In the US alone, the original release in cinemas was April 2020 but then the Pandemic hit. It was to be re-released/screened on April this year IIRC but I haven't heard news of it. I couldn't resist the temptation and watched a file in Google Drive. Yar-har. Unfortunately, there have been no DVD or Blu-Ray releases like in Europe.
Yeah thats how it goes here often too. Up until recently downloading was the only way to see movies and current season series. That's changed with a couple of streaming sites operating here now but movies are still hard to source. Occasionally they get a blue ray release but that's kind of random
Plandemic*
Repeating event of having her naked as well, its puzzling why its needed to undress a 12yr old girl several times, taking fanservice way too far. On top of being useless as a character.
Show is best with the world it takes place in and not its main characters imo. Gaping what is going on around them is much more interesting than those flat nothings.
The Tsucc has an odd thing for kids, there's no denying that. It's a dealbreaker for many. IIRC, he's stated that he dislikes drawing adults during a Q&A in Italy's ComicCon and that a lot of the Abyss adventures are based on childhood daydreams.....but the baths, the punishment bits and the toilet scene...ehhh...yeah, I wish it weren't true sometimes.
OTOH, Tsukushi also said that he likes drawing characters preforming banal day-to-day tasks and that it's a "story for children but not completely" or something like that.
I've heard that criticism often online, the general rationalization is that Tsukushi is a great worldbuilder/designer but not the most organized or in-depth charatcer-driven storyteller. Considering that he didn't know how the series would end and didn't even think about certain specificities of Orth or the Abyss' layers back in the Milan 2019 interview, it's safe to bet that he doesn't seem to adhere to set plans.
Personally, I think the worst offender for under-development is Reg, whose a living MacGuffin that I'm positive Tsukushi hasn't even devised an origin story for. But Tsukushi seems to revel in keeping things vague, like Nanachi and their gender or Lyza's status.
I wouldn't call them "flat nothings", though. I genuinely admire Riko's determination when faced with danger and torment, as single-minded as it may seem. The second movie was the best when Riko uses her wits and tact to rally and coordinate Reg and Nanachi. The fact she screws up and needs help at times also humanizes her enough for me as a character; to the point that I very much finding myself rooting for her and the crew. But hey, I'm a big fan, so I'm very biased.
