Space Rules and Space Role Play

As many nations will understand, the roleplay has had a significant pause, starting in July, on the issue of space RP (satellite launches, space stations, and manned missions, etc). The issue with space is every nation wants to be in space, but most nations simply cannot on their own. Its expensive. It's technologically demanding. It is demanding of near perfection; who (Who is tied to the mission?), what (What is the mission?), when (When will the mission be done?), where (Where is the mission happening?), how (How will the mission be carried out?), and why (Why is this the mission happening?).

For that reason, some restrictions have had to have been made and shared with you.

The Space RP rules can be read here:

Rules on Outer Space RP were established because we recognize that while every nation would - or should - surely want a space program, realistically, not every nation can. Additionally, nations would just be building launch pads everywhere as has happened before. As such, the mod team has provided the rp some starter locations as well as the possibility to create five permanently-placed launch pads as well as create fifteen pads that can flow/change/update with the natural course and progression of the rp. Every spaceport that has been initially provided has been chosen from a set list that takes into consideration geographic locations as well as the different types of spacecraft that are launched into space.

Rules on Outer Space:

Send any space related RP to Lower Nubia and Mesothallania to read and check first before posting the RP in the Regional Message Board. The below can also be explained if you ask through telegram or discord.

Launch Pads, Spaceports, and Space Stations

1. Spacecraft launch pads, interchanged with the term spaceports, will be divided into three tiers: Tier III (3), Tier II (2), and Tier I (1). A launch pad cannot be upgraded nor downgraded into a different tier; a launchpad is able to conduct operations suited for its tier and lower ones, but cannot conduct operations of a higher tier, without exception. The locations of spaceports, once built, cannot be relocated, transferred, etc..

1A. Tier III launch pads are only capable of sending satellites whose overall technological capabilities does not exceed what was possible starting the twenty-first century [the tech is pre-Y2K]. These do not exist as starting possibilities, so all T3 pads will be irp-created. A maximum of ten irp-created T3 spaceports can exist at a time. A nation can only build a T3 spacecraft launch pad if they do not have access to any launch pads. T3 pads take fifteen [irl] weeks (or 105 days) to construct.

1B. Tier II launch pads are only capable of sending satellites whose overall technological capabilities does not exceed what was possible by the [irl] year 2020. A maximum of five irp-created T2 spaceports can exist at a time; no nation will be denied construction of a T2 unless they already have access to a T2 or T1. Additionally, a T2 launch pad can be constructed in/near the following irl areas: Manitoba (Canada) [completed], Christmas Island (Australia), Darwin (Australia), Cape York (Australia), and Biak (Indonesia); these pads do not contribute to the T2 irp-created cap of five, but once constructed, their establishments will be added to the permanent list of T2 spaceports. T2 pads take thirty [irl] weeks (or 210 days) to construct.

1C. Tier I launch pads rules are in progress.

2. Space Station rules are in progress; tied with T1 rules.

3. Each launch pad can only send one spacecraft at a time once every [irl] week (though seven days are not required in between each launch, a minimum of three days must pass since the last launch on the pad in question).

4. All irp spacecraft launches must go through a member of the rp mod team to calculate the success rate and see whether the launch was successful or not.

Other Rules

5. You may start out with the satellites you would potentially own [given irl stats], and your starting space program may follows a similar ruling [but you will not have the progress made via irl international projects, etc.], but you may also choose to start your venture into outer space from scratch. Nations that would/do not have a national space program irl must start from scratch, but that does not mean they do not have satellites. Please check with Africa Moderator to verify what your satellite capacity/count is; it is very possible that some areas will not start out with satellites, so those countries are highly recommended to either build a launch pad of their own or confer with other nations that have a pad to temporarily use it.

6. Colonization of the Moon and other celestial bodies (asteroids, planets, etc.) will not be allowed. There will be no manned missions that go beyond the Earth and Moon's orbits.

7. All space ventures going outside of Earth’s orbit must be approved by the mod team first.

8. There will be no outer space tourism ventures.

9. All outer space rp and tech development, projects, etc. must be vetted by the rp mod team - before posting any space RP in the RMB, send it to Lower Nubia and Mesothallania to be checked. This can be done through telegrams, or Discord.

10. Pluto is a planet*.

Important take away points:

(1) Before posting any Space RP in the Regional Message Board, telegram Lower Nubia and Mesothallania, so it can be vetted.
(2) Only certain areas on the globe can act as places to launch into space. These are shown on the map (clickable) in the above dispatch.
(3) Each launch pad (regardless of Tier) can only send one spacecraft at a time once every [irl] week.
(4) Colonization (people living permanently or temporarily) of the Moon and other celestial bodies (asteroids, planets, etc.) will not be allowed. There will be no manned missions that go beyond the Moon's orbit.
(5) All outer space rp and tech development, projects, etc. must be vetted by the RP mod team.
(6) Nations only have access to the technology available to them - which is the technology of the nation(s) and/or area(s) they claimed in their map application, would be included as part of your alternate history if it has been allowed by the mod team, has been acquired irp, etc.

The following Space related RP's have been observed:

Outremer Latin - 24th September - "10 Vraix Croix space rockets are fired from Cyprus, putting into orbit anti-satellite [ASAT] weapons. If signalled by the Empire, one of these orbiters will shatter, scattering metal debris which can easily shred satellites travelling at orbital speeds."

Voided - Neither Israel nor France has ASATs IRL; please submit your proposal to the mod team for review; if approved, it will require development. No reference to what a "Vraix Croix rocket" has been provided; if the image provided is interpreted as a Saturn V correctly, you did not have access to American technology at the time of posting. Cyprus does not provide a possibility of launching items into space, but this is not too much an issue as you have access to a launch pad in Israel (Palmachim).

Indusians - 24th September - "Indian Space Research Organization launched the GISAT-2 with the assistance of GSLV-3 Launch Vehicle. The GISAT-2 is an imaging satellite class for geostationary orbit with a high temporal resolution, meant for providing near real time imaging with fast revisit capability and real time monitoring."

Not Voided - Uses the normal technology available to India. Indusians has had the mission vetted and approved by the mod team. You will be told whether it was a success or not because weather at the time of launch was not ideal.

Gavierland - 26th July - "Premier Jeff Frimpong today visited a GASER(Gavierland Agency for Space Exploration and Research) factory in Saõ Solomon,Santiago Province. There he checked up on the progress of the last module which will complete the country's low earth orbit space station,Gilbert Space Station. He also was told by the Director General of GASER,Tony Kusi , that they have already completed the module and are testing it while the agency has refocused on completing the Freeman Push-2 rocket which will take Gavierian galanauts(astronauts) to the Moon and Neptune. The Premier made it clear that making the country the region and world leader of space exploration is one of his priorities."

Voided - Brazil does not have the capability of building a space station. Moon missions must be vetted and allowed by the mod team. No reference to what a "Freeman Push-2 rocket" is has been provided. No manned missions to Neptune will be allowed - it's just not possible at all by any nation IRL.

Shusian Prince's Tour
The prince has announced that his grand tour will almost begin, his first trip will be to Indusians, and he hopes to visit Delhi as well as other major cities, to explore new cultures and new faiths, on the other hand, he also plans to use this to show Shusio's friendliness and trust to the world.

He commentates that he wishes to next visit Gavierland, however, due to the nation's nature, he has begun to fear that he might be captured by the state or it's people and killed, or be trialed for being religious, as stated in the following bit of a speech:

"While I do indeed wish to Visit Gavierland and learn it's culture, as well as the many autonomous areas of the region, it is seemingly risky for me to do so, as me and my fellow shusians know.. The communist revolt in 1912 has shown that the ideology does not allow People of Faith or Intellect into their lands, as we have studied and seen from internal and external sources, as much as I wish for me and my family, as well as special guests to enjoy, experience and see the culture in that part of the world, the fact that we have a culture to preach our faith, and the fact we even have a faith, is dangerous to us all."

It is unsure if he will visit the country, however, some state that the Royal Guard will personally accompany him if he ever does.

We have received the concern of the prince of Shusio and to that we will say that clearly his officials made amateur observations and should be fired immediately. The People's Code of 1946 ensures and promotes freedom of religion.Whether it is the majority Christianity , the ever growing irreligious , the calm buddhists and confucians in the south or the wusudists in the west , religion is a factor of our culture and identity and the Communist recognizes and embraces it and as duty protects and preserves it.So surely , to the Prince of Shusio , we tell you that Gavierland and religion is inseperable and that is fact.
