What proof exactly is needed for the assertion that a monarchy is inherently unequal?

Thanks. I stepped into the fountain of youth, but it turned out to be a scam, the pond of beyond.

understandable, but still. that was a cold vote.

No, thanks.

How would a monarchy make people unequal before the law? I'm genuinely curious.

Join the club, I live in the UK we have a monarch, and I don't feel unequal before the law, everyone abides by it, including the monarchy

The UK is definitely on the brighter side of the monarchy scale, and clearly the royal family abides by the law without a second thought (except maybe Andrew, but that's another topic), but it is true that a monarchy opens the possibility of inequality before the law, especially in less democratic countries, like Saudi Arabia or the UAE. The latter's monarch, it turns out, is holding his own daughter hostage in her home, but since he's the Head of State and the maximum authority, the country can't and won't do anything about it.

Having a Monarch as a figurehead has worked for the UK for the past 100+ years, but a monarch with actual power is a recipe for disaster.

Oh, yikes. I already said this here, but I more firmly believe now that monarchies should be more of figureheads without any real power.

If it is an absolute monarchy I agree it's trash.

IMO even if there wasn’t a monarchy, most of the tourism money would still be there.

Fellow Islanders! The Best Flag Competition is slowly coming to an end, however there is currently a tie on who will claim the runner up position in this contest! I have opened the poll for another two days, so let's break the tie and vote for the flag you think looks best:

*looks at Krystalveil being in a 5 way tie*

"Interesting."

I agree with this. I also wanted to add that I don’t feel that there’s any proof whatsoever that monarchies are inherently good (good being actually caring for their people’s welfare). The monarchy is only as good as the monarch.

Edit: Ignore the fact that my nation is quite the authoritarian one that doesn’t care about its people...
