I held by breath, rifle clenched close as it stomped down the hallway. My heart was beating a mile a minute, and holding my breath only accelerated that beat. Running was no use, the building was locked off. Then-

Me, David, and Natalie were the ones sent this time. Kicked out the city until we had hunted the beast. They gave us no more than 20 bullets as a collective, and 3 Rifles. I had known David since we were kids, near all my life, but Natalie was a little less known. She typically kept alone. Maybe that's why she was picked. We navigated through the moist heat and irradiated water, towards the ruins of Old Town. We made sure to be extra quiet, as we didn't want to attract it. As we approached the town, the water only got deeper and deeper, until we spotted the car's roof. There was a trail nestled within the rooftops to get us through Old Town, and the barely above water roof of the car is the beginning of the trail. There were boards leading up to the top of a small rooftop from the car, of which we climbed slowly, one at a time. Natalie went first, with only slight creaking. Next up went David, who had a little more creaking but nothing happened. Then I went up, the creaking only got louder but the boards remained still. All three of us took a seat ontop the building to catch some rest, where I mentioned the bridge might collapse when we return. We as a collective decided that we would most likely have to swim through the ruins back or find some boat to return to the City once the beast was slain.

As we ate bits of the small meals prepared for us, we heard the sounds of screams from deeper within the city, and then a loud crash. David and I quickly popped up, Rifles in hand trying to Search for the beast, to no avail. The various buildings in the way blocked our view of whatever was happening. We quickly packed our items back once again and sprinted deeper within the Trail.
