Johanna Comes Back Online… Literally

After days of an unexpected intended nationwide power outage that plagued the nation to a complete stop, power has finally been restored within the nation of Johanna.

On the 25th of September, the nation decided to bring its new province, Clanonia, that it inherited from Lotoarea, through the Clanonia Treaty on board the privately owned Johanna Gas & Power grid. Without much planning and tests the nation made the big mistake in prematurely switching over Clanonia’s former Lotoarea power grid to JG&P.

After a thorough government investigation into JG&P, the government has taken full control of the nation’s power grid.

”It seems to me, we had people in high places without the high experience. I do apologize to the people of our Grand Duchy,” the Grand Duchess of Johanna stated at the nation’s first press conference since power came back online.

”We could’ve shut the power off in our Clanonia province and just restored power to our nations provinces that have always been apart of Johanna… But, I didn’t think that would be right. We are all apart of Johanna. One Nation. One Sound. Therefore, until the government was able to repair and replace old faulty pieces of lines and correctly rewire this particular province’s grid (Clanonia) to connect to Johanna, I made the tough decision to shut off the nation,” she continued.

Schools and businesses closed throughout the time period, while government officials were still ordered to come to work in the Capital Palace —which never lost power— to continue addressing the nation’s top issues which wasn’t the power outage .

The nation is torn as 47% of the population understands the Grand Duchess reasoning behind the national black out of 2022 while 23% of the nation disagrees with the national black out. 20% of the nation is undecided on the issue. This marks the first time that a high percentage of the nations citizens disagree with a decision made by the country’s top official. The government hopes that with the takeover of Johanna’s largest power network that this mistake won’t happen again.

“I understand why the Grand Duchess did what she did, but she shouldn’t have inconvenienced the entire country just because of a new province joining our nation. Take care of us first. Hell there’s no reason for me to live in the capital province of Kira and losing power. That’s the whole reason for me living in this particular province because I know the government will take care of us first before they take care of any other province such as Lev. But whether apart of Lev or Kira, we’ve always been apart of this nation so we should have priority over Clanonia, not the other way around!” a patriotic unnamed Johannan citizen shouted.

“This kind of reminds me of the one band one sound thing that you used to hear about when you were a kid,” laughed George Foxtrot, a new residence of Johanna through The Treaty of Clanonia. “I already feel much apart of this nation. Any other leader would probably have put us back in the dark until they were ready to restore power. What people don’t get is that once they shut off our power we couldn’t go back to Lotoarea’s power grid as were no longer apart of them. I thank this nation’s top executive in shutting down the nation until we could fully be apart of it. What needed to be done was done. It’s time to move forward as a new country now ,” he continued.

“There was a power outage?” Tetra Cercanus choked as she blew smoke from a joint of only the finest Johannan weed after hearing the news. “Either I smoke too much or I must’ve been super high to not notice the dark streets of Johanna not being a dream.”

The Grand Duchess of Johanna is quietly appointing a cabinet with the newly formed Department of Energy branch.

Unfortunately the nation continues to experience rolling brownouts and periodic rolling blackouts to help minimize a full on national blackout again. Only the Grand Palace; home of the Grand Duchess, the Capital Palace, and other top government officials’ residence seem to be the only places in Johanna not affected by the rolling brownouts and blackouts. The new government owned JG&P hopes to have this issue corrected at the beginning of the coming week.
