PROTESTS IN SWEDEN FOR A SOVEREIGN NORWAY AND DENMARK| SWEDEN RP | JANUARY 1961

After the invasion of Norway in 1940, the Republic of Sweden has allowed people fleeing Norway and Denmark into the county to take refuge from German rule. Since then, the FSN (People for Sovereign Norway) have gained a lot of attention in cities across Sweden, especially Gothenburg. Protestors gathered for 3 days, advocating for a sovereign Norway. Similarly, the DF (Danish Freedom Fighters) have been marching in the streets of Malmo, asking Parliament to take action to free their home. Yesterday, members from both groups protested outside of the Parliament building, demanding they speak face-to-face with the Germans. Many representatives were surprised by their demands but were willing to at least attempt to fulfill their wish. The Minister of Foreign Affairs contacted the German minister in hopes he would accept the demands of the parley with the FSN and DF with Swedish diplomats attending as a neutral party. Surprisingly, he agreed to the offers and the three parties would meet in Oslo.
