Shipmaster Samuel A. Desmond stared into the deep ocean blue as he awaited his orders for the reassignment of his squadron. The former Captain, now Commodore, had been promoted after his recent performance at Operation Black Seal, in which he successfully captured and delivered a Canineian submarine while commanding the INS Summer Contingent. He was now the Shipmaster of the INS Tip of the Spear, and assumed command of an entire naval squadron, which alongside the 4th Fleet, was tasked with the defense of Port West Vera, the main Itallitopian presence in West Verusa.

Their friendly benefactors within the Friently Empire however had recently reported British fleet movements within the Friently gap, a threat to Itallitopian Naval Operations in the West.

Suddenly, a video transmission came in from the display behind Desmond, who turned his chair around before standing up. Moments later, the Admiral’s face came onto display, before the entire bridge stood up, and saluted.

“At ease.” The Admiral of the 4th Fleet said, before the entire bridge returned to their stations. “I assume you are already informed of the ongoing situation, correct?” The Admiral asked as Commodore Desmond sat in his seat in his all white uniform.

“Affirmative, Admiral Oliver.” Desmond replied.

“Very well then. As you know, our objective is the defense of Port West Vera, and the incoming British Forces threaten to jeopardize our operations.” Admiral Oliver began, before a map came up on the screen.

“It has been decided that we will be taking major naval action to repel the British forces, with the second and first fleet located here and here.” He said, highlighting the two British fleets on the map. “It is expected that behind them are additional British reinforcements, from their 3rd and 4th fleets as suggested by recent satellite images showing an extremely large force of British ships, They have dedicated the bulk of their Navy to the capture of their port.” The Admiral continued, before moving the map to planned Itallitopian formations.

“You will be regrouping your Squadron with the rest of the 4th Fleet, before positioning yourself at the exterior of the corridor, preparing to face the British Navy, meanwhile 3rd Submarine Squadron will begin moving into the gap, splitting up to engage both the second and first fleet.” He lectured as he showed the fleet’s expected position at the edge of the long corridor between Friently and the unknown lands.

“As the British Second Fleet begins to come into contact with the 4th Fleet, multiple Air Squadrons from West Vera will be deployed to attack British Fleet, and provide targeting data for your armament of cruise missiles.” Bringing in a few symbols representing air squadrons onto the map. “Just in case the squadrons are lost or must retreat, an AWACS will be deployed, offering continued targeting for your missiles upon the British fleet.” He continued, zooming the map out showing all the elements of the attack so far.

“If the British Second Fleet begins to retreat, the 8th Submarine Squadron will split up, attacking the 2nd Fleet to slow their retreat, as well as the 1st Fleet to slow their advance. You will have the 2nd Carrier Fleet and 3rd Fleet behind you for support.” The map showed the submarines splitting up as the British forces were regrouping, with the 4th Fleet pursuing, with the other 2 fleets behind.

“If they continue their advance however, or you must fall back, you will fall back to Checkpoint Azil, luring the British in, before the 2nd and 3rd Fleets attack from the North, with pressure from the 4th from the East, as well the 8th Submarine Squadron reducing the support capabilities of the British.” The Admiral finished, before concluding his presentation.

“Questions, Commodore?” He asked as he zoomed the map out, showing the continent of Verusa.

“Negative Admiral, we will regroup with the 4th Fleet immediately.” Commodore Desmond replied as he took one last look at the admiral.

“Very well then, dismissed.” The Admrial said, before the transmission ended.

He picked up his microphone before speaking on the ship’s intercomm “This is Shipmaster Desmond to all crew, we are moving out.”

“Lieutenant Constine, inform the rest of the Squadron that we are moving out, and regrouping with the 4th Fleet.” He ordered as he turned his chair back around, to stare at the blue oceans ahead.
