Hello West Talia, and welcome to the glorious Order! Here we combat raiders. They are regional military organizations that take over other small regions. Trust me, I know this from experience—as a Guardian and as an officer in a region that was pummeled several times. So remember:

If you want to combat the raider unity, join the Wardens or Guardians! You are also free to just sit here and chill, but even you can help in other ways.

The Order of the Grey Wardens
Region | LinkForum | LinkDiscord

Introduction:

Welcome to The Order of the Grey Wardens!

As a newcomer to our region, you have three paths open to you in your time here which all offer different experiences: the warden, the guardian, and the resident. While each has a different focus, they are not mutually exclusive and all offer you the full benefits of being a part of the region. Everyone has different desires and levels of ability in this game, and we've crafted our organization to allow as many people to contribute to the cause as possible through these paths. You can also change your path at any time if you so desire.

The Order of the Grey Wardens (also called TGW) operates a little differently than other regions as this is primarily a military-based organization. The Order is led by the First Warden with day-to-day assistance from Commanders of the Grey, who are also called Warden-Commanders. There is the High Constable who acts as second-in-command to the First Warden, and the Chamberlain of the Grey who serves as the primary archivist and recordkeeper for the organization. Below the Commanders are the Constables of the Grey and then Lieuetenants of the Grey who take charge when their superiors are away and help with various tasks to keep things running smoothly. Further information on leadership and ranks can be found Linkhere.

Below you'll find descriptions of each path. All three of these paths offer levels of involvement in our regional Faction system if you're looking for ways to get more involved in the region with some friendly competition. If you haven't already, we strongly recommend you join our LinkDiscord to socialize with the community and ask any questions you might have!

The Path of the Warden:

The Path of the Warden is what you've heard about in our recruitment, on the gameplay forum, and in the angry wails of defeated Darkspawn.

Wardens take the fight directly to invaders during the two game updates that take place at 12 AM and 12 PM US Eastern Time respectively. As a Warden, you will usually conduct multiple operations per update and act as the first and greatest line of defense against invader attacks on vulnerable regions. Liberations of invader-held regions and counter-invasions of invader home regions are also conducted by Wardens at update as our primary strike force. Wardens are the most high-trained and effective force in the game, and each day will present a new challenge or threat to be faced.

Don't worry if you're new to the game or don't think you have enough experience, as we'll provide you with guides and training to help you find your way. As long as you can be online at 12 AM and/or 12 PM EST at least one day per week, then the life of a Warden is for you.

Discord is a requirement for Wardens, as is World Assembly membership, and you can sign up and seek security verification here: Linkhttps://www.greywardens.xyz/forum/thread-3.html.

The Path of the Guardian:

The Path of the Guardian is for warriors who are unable to engage the Darkspawn on the frontlines and yet are still willing and eager to fight the invader blight.

Busy during the game updates described above? No problem, you can still conduct military operations and make a difference as a Guardian. Guardians choose to guard and cleanse the regions of NationStates from the Darkspawn in-between update times with a more flexible schedule. Guardians move into target regions during the 12-hour windows between game updates and provide vital World Assembly endorsement support to their leading officers, as well as conducting restorative operations to regions and off update defenses.

If you can't be present for the game updates or are just too darn lazy to, then watch the RMB (Regional Message Board) and World Factbook Entry for Guardian missions which are updated every 12 hours.

There's no sign-up needed, but Discord is still the most efficient way to receive orders so it is recommended. More information on mission requirements and how to participate can be found here: page=dispatch/id=1628390

The Path of the Resident:

The Path of the Resident is for those who prefer to stay within the region and take the game at their own pace.

Just want to chill out and answer your issues? Not a problem! You can still lend a helping hand by joining the World Assembly and endorsing our delegate Witchcraft and Sorcery (How-To Guide). This will increase our regional sway in important World Assembly matters such as in Security Council Liberations to help vulnerable regions, as well as giving you a personal vote for whatever comes through the General Assembly and Security Council.

Being a resident still offers you the full benefits of the region and you're more than welcome to come chat in our Discord and participate in regional events or competitions. All you have to do is simply maintain a nation within the region and then you're considered a resident.

If you have any questions about NationStates, then you should check out this helpful guide to get you started and swing by our discord if you need more help.

Comprehensive Guide on Joining the WA and Endorsing your Delegate

Why you should endorse the Delegate: Endorsing Saint Tomas and the Northern Ice Islands, our Delegate, is an easy way to support the Order. Endorsing our delegate increases our voting power in the World Assembly, which we uses to support proposed legislation and recognition important to us and the Warden community. Show your support by following this guide on endorsing!

Important notice: You are only allowed to have one nation in the World Assembly at a time, attempting to circumvent this rule by using multiple devices and emails is a surefire way to incur the wrath of site moderation and will likely lead to a blanket ban on all of your nations being allowed into the World Assembly.

1) Go to the settings page.

2) Make sure you have your email in the email field.

3) Click update if you didn't have an email already associated with your nation and needed to add one.

4) Go to the World Assembly page.

5) Click "Apply to Join"

6) If your application was successful this message will display. However, if you have another nation in the World Assembly already red warning text will display below.

7) Go to your email and find the acceptance to your application. Click the link inside.

8) The link will take you to this page, click the confirm button to join the WA.

9) If everything went well you will receive the green message shown here. Now go back to your home region page by clicking its name on the sidebar.

10) At the top of the region page will be a link to your WA Delegate, click on it.

11) Now scroll to the bottom of the delegate's nation page and click the button that says "Endorse"

12) The page will refresh and you can scroll back down to the delegate's national happenings to see your endorsement.

Strength In Unity

The top 20 Endorsement-Givers are guaranteed a Season 2 Legendary Card: The Grim Reaper

Wardens, being a beacon of shining hope for the innocent regions of this world is not without its risk. Even now, the Darkspawn dream of a world where their campaigns of terror can go unimpeded, where the foundations of our people crumble to dust. We will never allow this to happen, and YOU have the power to help us. Our strength has always been drawn from unity. From our incredible coalition of defender allies who work with us to stop the Darkspawn's plans of conquest at every turn, to our inspirational team of Wardens who work tirelessly night and day to grow The Order, we are all bringing light to this world. The same is true of our own regional security.

Should Weisshaupt Fortress fall, the protection of The Order of the Grey Wardens will rest with each and every one of us. Above all, there's one sure-fire way to build up our defences now and prepare for any situation or threat: We must become a Bastion in our own right. Darkspawn use influence built by an army of worshipers to channel power into destructive magicks. This power they reserve for their upper leadership, alone, but we in the Grey Wardens are entrusting it to all of you. With it, we will build an impenetrable wall.

Every endorsement on a nation generates 2 influence daily. If you give out one hundred endorsements, it adds two hundred to our wall of influence every day and thwarts raiders' dreams of conquest. Along the way, you're also helping to grow your own nation. Endorsement and influence badges on your nation page can only be achieved by endorsing your allies in the region and having them endorse you back. It benefits everyone, for we all grow together.

I am challenging you.

Take up this quest and help build our Bastion. Join the World Assembly, and use the table below to endorse as many other World Assembly nations as you can. In particular, endorse our World Assembly delegate Saint Tomas and the Northern Ice Islands. If you have joined us in Linkour Discord server, you may use LinkDot's tart command as well as The North Pacific's LinkEndorse the World function to locate any nations you haven't yet endorsed.

The top twenty nations who have given out the most endorsements by July 14th will be guaranteed to receive the Season 2 legendary card, The Grim Reaper, pictured to the right, as a reward for helping to keep our region powerful and secure.

In addition to the top 20 endorsers, if the Guardian official records reflect that a Guardian completed at least ten missions during the competition, they will automatically receive the Bastion's current legendary card prize for endotarting competitions, and automatically be entered into any Stack Edition lotteries. This means members of The Order will never need to choose between Guardian missions and Endoswaping. It also means legendary card awards are even more accessible.

It's that time, friendos, where I will once again distribute payments from the legendary Warden coffers. Or perhaps they are the Warden's legendary coffers. Either way! Bastion VI has wrapped up and, even though summer has been hitting NationStates hard, we had a strong uptick in Guardian activity this time over last. I return with updates, yay! We're currently half way through the Bastion VI program where nations are competing for who can get out the most endorsements to their fellow members of The Order of the Grey Wardens. Endorsing each other is powerful tool that strengthens your nation's security, as well as the security of our region. We currently have a collective 2,775 endorsements in this region, and our delegate is among the top 20 most powerful in the world. But, I wonder if there is MORE to be had? Some sort of magical incentive perhaps?

In the Bastion VI program, the top 20 nations who have given away the most endorsements are promised to win their very own copy of a Season 2 The Grim Reaper, a valuable card that also gives its owner a +7 stat in ass kicking. Hallelujah!

How do I find these nations?? Excellent question. One simple way is to look at the Bastion VI dispatch, where I've updated it with a table of all World Assembly nations in the region, and try to endorse all of those.

Now, or in the future, you can use The North Pacific's Endorse the World (https://forum.thenorthpacific.org/pages/endorse_world/) function, as well as Dot's tart command (https://dot.calref.network/#tart_command) if you have joined us in our Discord server. These tools will also help you locate any nations that you have not yet endorsed.

The number to beat right now is 36 endorsements given. Check out how you're doing in the table below! The bolded nations are currently on track to pick up a copy of the legendary card.

Noice. It’d be cool if you showed the present Guardian records too, but I’m not sure if you could access them…unless, as Chamberlain, you keep tabs on Guardian missions too…

The Guardians manage their own records, but the data is still stored at Weisshaupt, so I don't particularly mind fetching it.

Current Guardians guaranteed to recieve an S2 The Grim Reaper are in bold.

There remains another six-ish days (so 12 more Guardian missions) for people to complete before Bastion VI ends. Meaning anyone who is not currently even on the list, still has the potential to hit the requirement to win.

The Order of the Grey Wardens: Guide to being a Guardian
Region | LinkForum | LinkDiscord

What is a Guardian?

Being a Guardian is for warriors who are unable to engage the Darkspawn on the frontlines and yet are still willing and eager to fight the raider blight.

For those busy during the two game update times, you can still conduct military operations and make a difference as a Guardian. Guardians choose to guard and cleanse the regions of NationStates from the Darkspawn in-between update times with a more flexible schedule. Guardians move into target regions during the 12-hour windows between game updates and provide vital WA endorsement support to their leading officers, as well as conducting detags and off update defenses.

Guardian mission updates are found on the RMB (Regional Message Board) and World Factbook Entry for Guardian missions which are updated every 12 hours. There are also notifications given on Discord, if you are able to join.

You don't need to sign up or register anywhere, either on NationStates, on Discord, or the forum. Just start participating by following this guide! This guide will remain pinned in our region to serve as a handbook whenever you need it.

How to Participate:

We call your current nation in The Order of the Grey Wardens your "main nation". For Guardian missions, you will need another nation, which is called a "puppet nation". You can name this nation whatever you want when you create it. To get your puppet nation setup, follow these steps:

1) If your main nation is admitted to the World Assembly, resign your World Assembly membership.
2) Login to your puppet nation, or create it if you have not done so already.
3) Go to the Settings page.
4) Associate a valid e-mail with your nation (make sure this is the same e-mail address as on your main nation).
5) In your Motto, make a reference to the name of your main nation in some fashion (so that we know it's you!)
6) Set the LinkGuardians Flag on that nation
7) Apply to join the World Assembly.
8) Check your e-mail, and confirm your admittance into the World Assembly.
9) Move to the current region listed in the newest Guardian RMB post and endorse the selected nation
10) Remain there until the lead nation gains the delegacy position

To confirm your Guardian registration, please send a Telegram to Pangaea-Panthalassa with the following information:

The First Warden wrote:Guardian Nation Name:
Main/Original Nation Name:

Between missions, keep your puppet nation in The Order of the Grey Wardens, endorsing our delegate Witchcraft and Sorcery.

Total mission counts and ranks are calculated at the end of each month by Guardian leadership, typically pinned on the main region page when published.

There may be times where the format of a Guardian mission changes, depending on the needs or goals of the mission. It's important to check your telegrams on your Guardian nation in case you receive special instructions, but here are some you might encounter generally:

  • If asked to move to a region, you move your puppet nation to that region by opening the region page, scrolling to after the World Factbook Entry, and then clicking "Move (Nation) to (Region)". (Note: Do not post on that region's Regional Message Board unless invited by native nations to do so)

  • If asked to endorse a nation, open that nation's page, scroll to the bottom, and click the button "Endorse (Nation)". (Note: You can only do this if your puppet nation is in the same region as that nation)

  • If asked to cross-endorse on a nation, you not only endorse that nation but also every other nation endorsing that nation. To see the endorsees of a nation, scroll to the bottom of the page to "Endorsements received:", which is followed by a list of endorsing nations.

  • If asked to cross-endorse in the region, when you enter a region, you will want to find your fellow Guardian nations and cross-endorse on them. To find these nations, you can either scroll through all nations in the region and look for nations with the Guardian flag, or look at the activity page for that region for nations moving to that region with the Guardian flag.

Guardian Ranks:

Being a Guardian offers quick promotions based on the number of missions you complete and further leadership opportunities. Guardian missions and various Guardian tasks are managed by those who hold the following ranks:

  • Silverite Guardian - The Silverite Guardian is the leader of all the Guardian forces. They will oversee missions and make sure the deeds of the Guardians are remembered for those who come after by maintaining records.

  • Guardian Champion - The Guardian Champion is second-in-command to the Silverite Guardian. They are an experienced veteran of the battlefields and can be trusted to provide leadership in the absence of the Silverite Guardian.

  • Guardian Captain - Guardian captains are those who have shown outstanding dedication to the cause and are entrusted to take the lead on missions when called upon by their superiors.

Even when not in leadership, Guardians can earn titled ranks that reflect their experience and hard-earned effort against the raider blight. These ranks are calculated by leadership at the end of each month, as found in the Guardian mission log:

  • Guardian Knight-Indomitable - These Guardians have dedicated countless hours to protecting regions. You can recognise them by their armor, dented but still glorious, and patched up over and over. That is, if you don't already recognise their storied name. (Awarded to those who have completed more than 125 missions)

  • Guardian Knight-Stalwart - Stalwarts are loyal to their friends and their quest, reliable in every battle, and hard-working, having dedicated their time and sword to a myriad of missions. (Awarded to those who have completed 76-125 missions)

  • Guardian Knight-Bulwark - These Guardians have attended a multitude of missions, their glorious swords always ready to plunge into battle. Regions know they can depend on a Knight-Bulwark. (Awarded to those who have completed 36-75 missions)

  • Guardian Knight - When you hear the gale of wings, and the glint of metal, and the cry of the griffin, a Guardian Knight cannot be far away, ready to help whoever is in need. (Awarded to those who have completed 21-35 missions)

  • Guardian - Guardians are the shields that protect the vulnerable, and the hands that reach out to help people back up after a raid. (Awarded to those who have completed 6-20 missions)

  • Guardian Squire - These young guardians have recently taken up their sword to protect regions all over NationStates. You can recognize them by their shiny new armor and boundless enthusiasm! (Awarded to those who have completed 1-5 missions)

Lily seems to have raided Temple Prime again...

Hey, I just wanted to make sure ya’ll saw this :) Thanks for being such great friends~

Quick edit: Yeah. I never did leave, did I? I mean. Kinda. The whole new identity thing was a bit of a wash though. Lol. Aaaanyway. This is still my main. Not here as often as I once was but I am here. Do with that what you wish.

I wrote a letter. I know it’s a mess but I didn’t have the energy tonight to heavily edit it so I hope it does a good enough job of getting the message across.

Hey there everyone!

I hope I find you all in good spirits. I have a sort of final announcement I’d like to make on this nation before I move on. I actually wrote this up once already and realized by the time I’d gotten to the end that I was already falling back into old habits. C’est la vie, we try again.

Let me attempt to simplify a lot of long, old, and convoluted thoughts of mine. I’ve been on NationStates nearly 3 years now. I was 15 when I joined. I was an inexperienced kid trying to find themself and in that moment when I was most lost, I attached to NationStates. And in these almost three years, I have changed myself over and over — countless nations, regions, monikers, personalities, flags, avatars, etc. My identity has become a convoluted mishmash of dozens and dozens of random things and I’ve realized these last few weeks how desperately I tried to find myself here, on an ancient, dilapidated online browser game.

In my defense, I have emerged as a different person, a better person I hope, but certainly a different one. Aramantha and all of her sister names have taught me endless things. I don’t write this to blame my younger self, I understand their pain and their motivations, but it’s high time for me to move on. As much as I wish I could, I cannot totally start over. I cannot travel back to 2019 and start my journey over with the knowledge I have today. I also cannot seek pure anonymity. I have discovered through today’s short experiment that I am not suited to it. I am not a guiltless liar and the idea of having to lie about myself every moment I remain on this game is one I cannot handle.

The best I can do now is write myself a new identity, one that is unapologetically me, without all the entrapments of my former years or the endless expectations I have placed upon myself. I don’t know how well I’ll be achieve this or who the person on the other end will look like, but I will venture to do my best.

This nation will remain alive solely for the sake of history and keeping The Grand updated. I will also continue to update the failed GA sheet as both of these are responsibilities I have taken upon myself that I don’t wish to shove onto someone else.

But beyond that, this is the final moment of Aramantha. I ask kindly that everyone respect that now and in the future. When I build myself new I will not hide who I am but I also do not wish to be Aramantha. Perhaps that is counterintuitive or simply another name change in a long series of them but for me this is the step I have to take to improve so it means a lot to me. Thank you all for your endless support these many years. I hope we meet again soon.

Hey hey, beautiful people! This month's Featured Warden publication is out, and it features none other than Visionary Union, whom you might or might not recognize as the vaguely rude guy on Discord who always bothers me.

.
.

News from TGW:
  • Commander Roavin was Linksuccessfully nominated to join the Monument of the Grey, a regional award for the most notable Wardens in history, following an overwhelming regional vote in favor of his admission.

  • After brief negotiations, The Grey Wardens amended The Andruil Protocols with Spiritus and reaffirmed the treaty's commitments to one another.

  • Warden Trivene aka Moon was promoted to Warden Constable for their help publishing these fancy Featured Warden editions and overall celestial coolness during military operations.

  • Constable Nakari launched a Dragon Age discussion region within The Fade for Dragon Age lovers and roleplay enthusiasts alike.

Featured Warden: Vis
July

Visionary Union, better known as Vis to all around him, joined us in early 2021 after Nakari lured him out to the TGW server to play Dragon Age with others. Already established in The Rejected Realms (TRR) before this, Vis has remained a constant social presence in our offsite platforms since then, guiding new players in getting acclimated with NationStates, lending aid in major operations and tormenting his regionmates as much as he can, whether it be on Discord or on the fields of LinkKrunker. Feeling particularly sadistic this month, First Warden Grea Kriopia sent Constable Moon to interview this steadfast Warden after his recent promotion to TGW’s Chief Medical Officer, a role he has been abusing to force Moon to sleep early.

Vis: Hey, I'm Vis. I've been in TRR for almost two years and a little over a year in TGW.

Moon: Thanks for agreeing to this interview, Vis! When and how did you first find out about NationStates?

Vis: I actually joined NS twice, my first time was in like 2015/2016, a minecraft forum server that I frequented had opened a region in NS, so I joined to see what was the fuss all about. We didn't really do anything, and the region died fairly quickly, while I left that forum. I returned in 2018, and then started to interact with major regions.

Moon: That sounds cool! What was the first region you got involved with after your return?

Vis: Oof, kind of a sore spot, but Osiris.

Moon: Oof, that must've been interesting. You were a raider first, then?

Vis: Yeah, I used to be a raider with the Sekhmet (or however it's spelled) Legion, it was my first interaction with GP in general and R/D in particular.

Moon: What made you leave Osiris and join TGW then?

Vis: After a year and a half in Osiris, I left it for TRR and found a new community to be a part of. I've always viewed myself as a regionalist, I tend to focus on the region I'm in rather than spread myself over several regions without committing to either. During my time in TRR, I've gotten to know Nakarisaune, who of course was already a very respected member of TGW, and we occasionally played co-op games like Portal 2. Once we figured we both have Dragon Age: Inquisition, we decided to try its multiplayer, and quickly realised that the two of us need more players if we want to win missions, and Nakari suggested that we check in TGW's discord server to see if anyone else had the game and was willing to play.

Aerlion (Birdkeeper) became a mostly regular player, as well as The grim reaper, and sometimes Benevolent thomas joined as well. I applied to be a Warden around the same time and stuck around.

Moon: That sounds really nice. Was there anything specific that made you stick around, apart from playing DA:I with other peeps in the server?

Vis: The people were super nice and fun to hang around with, and I've known quite a few of them from Libcord or from shared citizenship in TRR, so it contributed to my decision to stay.

Moon: Do you think that the community in TRR and the community here in TGW are somewhat similar in vibes, having been in both of them for a fair amount of time?

Vis: TRR tends to get more serious sometimes, but the mood is mostly still light hearted and as any visitor to our discord will testify, we're very casual in our approach to discussions, while TGW from my experience is more focused on the R/D aspect rather than community building (though it does it a lot), but it makes sense since tgw is defender first and foremost, while in TRR the RRA (the Rejected Realms Army) isn't a large part of the region.

Moon: I see, that's pretty interesting. We've got a number of Wardens who are also in TRR (including you!), so I've occasionally wondered about the community's vibes there.

Moving on, is there any particular thing that you've experienced in NS that impacted how you play this game greatly, or made you think really hard about something?

Vis: I think that the entire story over the TRR Mute Button thread and the response of the moderation team really made me to take a step back from the game, and focus more on the offline communities that I'm a part of and the friends I made here more than on the game itself.

Moon: Oh god, I remember that mess >_>

Vis: Yeah…

Moon: You've been on this hellhole of a site for over four years now. What's the best memory you had during the time you've spent here?

Vis: Hmm, need to think.

Damn, idk. I guess finding trr as a new home and taking place in the cultural stuff we usually did.

Moon: Any regrets?

Vis: Not having enough time to execute my plans as TRR’s Culture Officer.

Moon: If I recall correctly, you took over in the middle of the term, right?

Vis: No, I got elected, and right after that I had some unexpected IRL stuff, and eventually I resigned mid term seeing that I didn't have enough time.

Moon: Ahhh, definitely mixed you up with someone else >_>

We’re unfortunately running out of time here, so is there anything you would like to say to bring this interview to an end?

Vis: "Hail Pacifica"

Uh, it was fun talking to you Moon, hope you have a pleasant day ^^

Moon: You too and thanks for giving me your time of the day ^_^

Today was the day I canceled ENFORCED vegetarianism. But 75% of people are still vegetarians or even vegans. Tofu King lost a couple of customers, but that’s all right.
