Reawakening

At the heart of Kromkarie, 200 men work day-to-day digging in search of the underground temple, a temple seeled since the arrival of the Grey Empire years ago. Eventually they found the temple utilising explosives to clear the rock that had buried the door. There stood the entrance of the temple, a giant metal vault door with a single keyhole and fuel intake.

"Supreme Zealot!", shouted one of the men. "We have finally found and broken through to the entrance, I also ordered some fuel to power the door open once you have the key."

"Good work all of you, you shall all become the first Zealots of the temple," said the Supreme Zealot

"All hail the Chosen One, all hail Zoion!," the men say in unison.

Forward unto Dawn

Since the liberation and Unification of Kromkarie from the Grey Empire, the Goverment has been in turmoil trying to stabilise the nation in terms of economy, food and minor unrest. Kromkarie has been left with an overdeveloped manufacturing sector built by the Grey Empire. However, the land the factories were built on were prime farming soil leading to only a few farms and not much fertile land left to expand. This has left the nation in a risk of famine situation where civil unrest is present in the outer regions where food supplies are scarce.

"We must focus on the matters of the people! We must restore the agricultural sector as we run the serious risk of famine if too many farms were to fail or deliveries were delayed. The system is extremely fragile." Spoke one of the lords.

"What about the unrest in the outer regions," says another lord

"The unrest will die down once the supplies of food and industry reach them, but for this we require a plan of action." says Prime Minister Sir Jamie Williamson. "I call for a vote, all those in favour of helping the economy and thus the people raise your hand."

*45 lords vote in agreeance*

"What about the rest, what do you propose," Sir Jamie irritably says.

"We believe the nation requires a strong military first so to secure our position", says one of the lord in representation of the rest.

"As much as we agree with you, we must lift our nation out of poverty and reach for the future. It is settled we will begin drafting an economic plan immediatly starting with the farms. Through our great industry we shall create the most mechanised farms, for what we fall short in farming land we will make up for in efficiency!" says the Sir Jamie.

*Applause*

Middle predor

A New Day
Middle Predor was certainly not the most populous of kingdoms, even among the tiny states surrounding it. Considered to be something of a backwater with its tiny population, the large deposits of Arium and a surprisingly strong economy were the only things ensuring it was even a kingdom at all.

But with the sun shining on the grassy fields around Esterden, the smell of summer in the air, and a cool breeze coming down from the mountains that shielded the tiny kingdom from the greater world, Albin wouldn't be anywhere else for the world. The king smiled as he watched flying boats hoist themselves delicately upon the breeze, unfolding their gasbags and rising swiftly to soar above the capital city. The new year had just begun, and Esterden was basking in the warm midday sunshine, the city's paved streets a delicate spiderweb of shining stone from where Albin stood at the top of the palace.

Following its successful rebellion and independence from the Grey Empire, Middle Predor had enjoyed something of a golden peacetime. Shielded by the tall mountain range that cut off all but a small section of the border from entry, it largely passed unnoticed by the larger kingdoms and empires nearby, and had siezed upon that opportunity well.

Albin's attention was caught by a dark shape rising slowly from a distant corner of the city. A deep hum of motors accompanied the gentle ascent of Middle Predor's flying battleship, the Princess of Predor. More flying boats unfolded from its sides as it prepared to head off to the coast for more exercises. With such a tiny population and accompanying small army, the kingdom needed the kind of protection afforded by a flying battleship, and the airforce was almost constantly training and exercising their ships.
Beside the Princess of Predor's cradle lay another, and within it was slowly growing the dark shape of another battleship. When it would be launched, Middle Predor would hold a lead in battleships until other nations caught up, and Albin was taking a close interest in its construction. The kingdom could not hope to remain unwatched for long, and soon it, too, would be affected by the unrest.

But until then, the kingdom continued to snooze contentedly in the summer breeze and warmth, sheltered from the tumultuous events occurring elsewhere.

Reawakening Part 2

The train arrives at the temple entrance on the newly built but classified line designated ZE-0101. The train carries with it shipments of coal, food and other supplies along with the King. The King wearing his high boots steps out onto the muddy terrain glancing at his now sinking feet, and soon to be drenched clothing from an incoming storm.

"The temple, you really have found it, you truly have proven yourself devout if you managed to find this with what was left of the evidence. I trust I was called here not just to gaze at unfinished progress." said King Victor with an excited expression.

"Of course my chosen one. As soon as my zealots have unloaded the coal and fuelled the entrances steam engine, we shall make our way and reclaim what we have lost." Supreme Zealot Arthur says. "For there are many secrets to be found and lost technologies to be had, infinite power will await us through that door". Arthur says sounding deranged while holding his hands into the air.

The zealots finish loading the fuel into the engine and Supreme Zealot Arthur gives the order to fire it up. The engine powering the door roars into action from its long slumber still preserved from being buried. King Victor walks over to the entrance control panel and pulls out a knife stabbing into his arm lifting a key shaped object up from deep in his arm. With his other arm he grabs a smaller knife and begin cutting a slit that allows him to pull the key out. With the key out and blood dripping everywhere the King inserts it into the control panel and pulls several levers. The door screeches open, a large steel hulk creaking and grinding as it rolled to the side.

The King, Supreme Zealot and the zealots enter the temple facing a long tall stairway descending deep into the crust. The Supreme Zealot using some of the old texts he has finds a lever powering the lights to stairway and turn them on.

Forward unto Dawn

Prime Minister Sir Jamie and the House of Lords begin formulating an economic plan to stabilise the nation. They decide that agriculture, must be prioritised however are concerned with some of the reports coming from the outer regions of the nation. The Government was recently made aware by its police that the civil unrest was growing into movements against the government. Some of the groups were beginning to organise resistances if something was done quickly. The Government along with the economic plans decided it was necessary to create organisations that can prevent these insurrections, the economic plans goes as follows:

- Mechanisation of Farming with introduction of multistorey and floating farming platforms utilising walker based machinery for mass farming.
- Nationalisation of the Farming sector forming the National Farming Regulatory Directorate (NFRD)
- Social welfare programs
- Founding of the Kromkarie Ministry of Internal Affairs (KMIA)
- Founding of the Kromkarie Ministry of Civil Propaganda (KMCP)

later after the plan was finished and set into action, a debate was held about what to do with the minor resistance while the organisation were being formed.

"I suggest immediate military intervention! We send in the troops to peacefully disperse protest and maintain law and order." says one of the lords.

"I second the notion only if supplies are sent with the military transport for the people, if the military were to turn up without aid we may end up triggering further resistance." said another.

Sir Jamie take to the middle floor and said, "Until the KMIA and KMCP is formed the military must be sent in with supplies, there will be no vote on this emergency matter".

Reawakening Part 3

Once finally reaching the bottom only to be facing a long dark hallway. "Finally made it to the bottom," Supreme Zealot Arthur says while pulling out an old map. "Now according to this map I made from the scraps left after the war, we need to follow this hallway till we reach the ancient city. However, we must wear these breathing apparatuses as the power to the main part of the temple has been off for years and thus the air will be deadly."

"What about lighting, torches won't work down here Arthur." said the king.

One of the zealots approaches the front with a large battery pack and several wired lanterns. He hands one to the group before taking point.

"This is how we will move through the cavern. This large battery pack laced with arium allowing for him to carry large amounts of electricity should easily get us to the heart, but maybe not back." says Supreme Zealot Arthur.

The group continue down the hallway following the Supreme Zealot and Zealot carrying the battery pack. As they reach the end they are face with an abyss of darkness, a large cavern with multiple paths splitting off in different direction.

"According to this map, we need to head down that path towards the city where we will than find the entrance and another path to the heart." said Supreme Zealot Arthur.

The group approach the gate of the city, the walls stretching into darkness up and across. The king walks up to the gate and pulls out his key and uses it to open the gate, while the zealots push the gate open. As they enter the city, it is hard to make anything out in the dark. They all look at the surroundings and the king sheds a tear as he looks at the condition of the city, chunks of building fallen to the ground and entire building seemingly demolished.

"It will take a lot of work my liege, but I swear this sacred place will be renewed and those that caused this will be hunted down and brought before Zoion in death.

Forward Unto Dawn

"Prime Minister Sir Jamie! Message for you sir from the soldiers in the outer region as well as one from the KMIA," the messenger says walking into Jamie's office.
"Let me see that", Jamie says grabing the letter from the messengers hand. Jamie begins to read the letter:

The letter describes that the soldiers were able to deliver the supplies however, that rebels have organised and a shoot out occurred in the one of the small towns where the Imperial Army engaged an organised resistance. Although these rebels were dealt with easily, it raises the question of how much this is growing. The second letter from the KMIA states that they have captured several rebels and have interrogated them learning that the resistance has not reached out of Northex. They also gained the information that they do not believe that Victor Hawkins is their king as he has failed to provide to them.

"Well, could be worse, what if they weren't heretics." says Sir Jamie. pausing he continues with, "Tomorrow in parliament the lords shall convene with this issue, it would seem a civil war may be on the horizon if we can't stop this".

A Pirate's Life For Me
Asmodeus, Capital of the Broken Coast

Long had the Brotherhood of the Broken Coast been a symbol for freedom, for a society of free and equal men that would stand together against the tyranny from the likes of kings or emperors. Orignially, the islands of the Coast had been strong industrial hubs that the Grey Empire used to create new tools, both for peace and war. This also made it vital to control during the Coast's liberation efforts. These efforts were led by men of all caliber. Some were natives to local area, while others flocked to the Coast's cause of creating a haven for those who wished to live free and without judgement from crown or church. Alas, no well-working civilization could exist without some form of constitution. One of the leading privateers thus suggested the creation of an article of agreement, of which would consitute the code of conduct and act as a guiding constitution for the Brotherhood of the Coast.

This led to a more unified movement which ultimately gained their freedom from the Grey Empire, and as such siezed the sea-side port town of Asmodeus and proclaimed it to become the capital. And while the economy could considered great, agriculture would prove to be an unsolvable problem due to the harsh weather of the eastern continent. The only way to solve this, the pirates figuered, would be to raid the convoys of other nearby nations, to seize food for the Coast.

As the sunshine rose over the pirate city, Pirate Lord Edward Silverstry awoke from his sleep. His eyes gazed across the grand room of the previous governor that resided of the Asmodeus before the Broken Coast had seized it. Groaning from a hangover he had gained the night before, he slowly sat up and dressed himself in the common clothes of a privateer. Noticing a bottle of rum on his bed-side table, he grabbed it and brought it up to his mouth, only to be disappointed to only gain a few drops of the drink. Grunting in slight frustration, he put the bottle down before sighing.

"Why is the rum always gone?", he said as he slowly made his way to a grand window that could be opened up to a balcony.

The sight that met him was the various buildings of brick and wood and other materials. It would most likely be considered a shanty-town by the other 'civilized' nations, but to him and the other buccaneers, it was home. Lights were in the proccess of being turned on, and in the distance, the grand port of Asmodeus could be seen waking to life as fishing vessels and larger, armed sail ships pulled out and into the harbor, most likely to attempt a raid on some merchants. Further out to sea, he could spot the small dot that was the first flying battleship of the Broken Coast, The Black Panther. It's lumbering and slow form might not be the best for raiding convoy lanes, but for the defense of a city or the seiging of one, she would do fine.

The Pirate Lord's gazing across the horizon was interrupted by a knock at his bedroom door. Shouting a lazy "Come in!", Edward heard the steps of another man approaching.

"Capt'n Silverstry, the Pirate Lords of Gulabria and Croscaunt have arrived to discuss our plans.", the voice of the man said.

Silverstry nodded shortly before turning his head towards him. "Send them in, if ye would."

The other pirate nodded and quickly left, leaving Silverstry alone with his thoughts.

"This is going to be a long day.."

Let there be trade

The Fros'turne Herald brings you today the speech from the president's trade address from yesterdays conference in the capital.

"People of Fros'turne, today is a day for celebration as here now I declare to the rest of the world that if any nation wishes to trade with the proud country of Fros'turne we will accept. (Under his breath Unless the request is outrageous) Both I and the senate have discussed extensively that this is the right action to take as it's time we share our prosperity with the rest of the world and take place in the affairs of others as a neutral ally. If any nation wishes to form a trade agreement or alliance all they have to do is send a delegate to our capital."

The president takes a sip of water from the glass of water on the podium

"Let this be known that Fros'turne promises to be a powerful and loyal ally to any nation and if war has broken out with an allied nation the full might of the Fros'turne military will come down upon any enemy. I will now end my declaration with our nation's motto as it best signifies our unity and belief that we can do anything together, 'One nation, One people, One destiny'."

This ends our coverage of the president's trade address. If you, the reader, has any questions you can write a letter to our P.O. box in the capital.

A Summary on Reconstruction

The last few decades of the Southron Confederacy saw it reeling from the aftermath of a destructive civil conflict. It had been perhaps a near century or so since the independence of the a fledgling Columbian republic, and unto which the new Columbian Experiment began. However, even experiments had to fail at some point.

Near five million, a multitude of Columbians, had been lost in this war of brothers and sisters. Cities, on both sides, had been burnt to the ground. From arose the ashes the survivors of the onslaught, whose lives were ruined and decimated. Too much blood had been spilt, and the Confederacy then had to face a bleak future.

And it was so that the succeeding Presidencies of the Confederate States sought the ultimate goal for reunifying a war-torn Union: through honest-to-God recuperation, reconstruction, and reconciliation. The weak Articles had been struck down, with a new national Constitution established to guide the nation forward. Cities were rebuilt, infrastructure restored to antebellum condition, railways, residencies, industries, and public works expanded to accommodate a higher condition of living.

In conjunction with economic improvement came social and cultural upheavals concerned with the ideals of freedom and democracy: natural born rights if citizens and immigrant alike, and the assurance of a liberalized world free from the tendrils of tyranny and oppression. These rights were championed as such, for the sake of the spirit of the Union. Education, political representation, free speech and press, and magnitudes more were provided for the benefit of a democratic populace. Even then were further rights to be realized in the coming years. The posterity of the far future would come to enjoy it.

The nation was, for all intents and purposes, content on it’s own inner growth and development. The outside world was largely ignored, except for initial efforts in expanding diplomatic outreach and relations. As it were, missions were sent overseas to form new embassies, as promised by recent elections.

The military, in large part, remained restricted to state-based National and Republican Guards, attributed to be a part of the larger organization of the Regular Army. The Navy and Naval Air Forces secured the skies and nearby seas, but would require further improvements for any other capabilities. Fears of over-militarization, and the general dislike for any more conflict, saw the military primarily take the role of a defensive force, rather than an offensive one. Expansive developments would yet to see the light of day, lest the new administration foresee it as a necessity once Columbian might needed projection. God knows the region would see change, and change was in the air.

Conference

"Greeting King/Queen, Dictator or elected Leader.
Kromkarie invites all leaders and diplomats from around Skyreach to a conference of unity held at the palace in Blankenwald, Kromkarie Capital Territory. We wish to preserve peace and provide trade as well as discussion on the crumbling Grey empire. Please do not bring warships, more than 5 bodyguards and absolutely no birds. Any guns larger than a pistol design will be taken by the KMIA and not returned when entering the palace.
Food and beverages will be provided, you are also encouraged to bring your own.
Signed Prime Minister Sir Jamie Williamson."

Since the invitations were sent, Kromkarie has been busy with preparation of the palace and city surrounding it. The factories next to the palace have been shutdown temporarily and decorated improving the look of the palace. Flags of all the different nations being hung up across the city and upon the palace. The long walkway bridge leading to the palace being decorated with banners of all the nations. Everything was almost set for their arrivals. They would land at the port at the end of the walkway bridge and be escorted by royal guards to the palace where they would meet the Prime Minister Sir Jamie Williamson. However not all was perfect, dark clouds bursting to rain loomed across all of Kromkarie, some believed it was Zoion watching us keeping us safe from anyone who dared take advantage of this occasion.

DESCRIBE HISTORY

Geography

The Geography of the nations is flat muddy swamp terrain throughout most of the nation except for the large mountain range to the north. The nations occupies a lot of coastline with few beaches due to the rocky outcrop nature.

The climate of Kromkarie is mostly rain and cloud. Temperatures range from 1 - 20 degrees Celsius for most of the year, except for winter where temps can get as low as -15 degrees Celsius. Whether consists of mostly rain and clouds. These whether patterns lead to lots of flooding without proper drainage systems.

The environment of the nations consists of large areas of muddy flooded swamp lands and small forest areas as well. These small forests are usually near cities as the cities were built near them as they are the only areas of stable land. This makes farming areas limited and hard to manage. Roads especially can't be built without large expenses in bridging and terrain stabilisation.

Economy

The economy of Kromkarie based around it's extensive and over developed industry in compared with other sectors. This was due to the Grey Empire using farmland to convert the nation into a massive manufacturing hub due to its wealth in resources and already large industrial basis. The educational sector also makes up a significant part of te economy as the nation relies on innovative solutions and mass indoctrination to pull itself along. The farming sector is almost non-existent due to the grey empire. Land that has had factories built on them can no longer be cleared for farming as the soil is now infertile, leading to the nation at the risk of famine if something were to upset the delicate sector. The country is trying to solve this problem with innovative solution through mass mechanisation.

Culture

The culture of the Kromkarie although based largely around the Religion is one of looking forward. Innovative solutions are the way of the people, wanting to discover the undiscoverable. However, they will never over-step the boundaries of their religion. Luckily the religion is very revolutionary unless you are not part of it. Food culture is almost non-existent due to lack of farming throughout history now enforced with rationing due to the current situation. Although, due to its revolutionary nature, if the continued indoctrination of people were to fail, the collapse of the current system is well within vision. Zoioism could be destroyed if people began to see through it.

Infrastructure

The infrastructure of Kromkarie utilises trains as it main source of transport. Trains provide a much more cost affective solution for transport on the terrain of the nation. Trains must be used for getting around other cities as there are no roads leading to other cities. Due to this the train network is extremely well developed with train running everywhere in large quantities. The train networks range from Civilian Express, Transport Express, Civilian/Transport and Military lines. The only roads in the nation consist within cities and towns, however even then trams are considered the main transport system.

Sagami

Arrival
From the Merchant Capital of Sagami to the Capital of Kromkarie, in a straight line, was over 1100 kilometers. The Sagami Representative did not arrive on an airship, for Sagami did not have any. Instead the representative had arrived by train in Blankenwald's largest train station. Kohaku Mizushima stood out from the rest of the representatives, being a merchant instead of a noble or guard. She had arrived with one other, Guardsman Haruna Ishimori of the Sagamese Merchant Guard and an on-and-off bodyguard of Kohaku's whenever she was travelling the eastern continent. The two Sagamese Women were definitely standing out. This wasn't Kohaku's first visit to the city though. As a merchant, she had been to all corners of the continent during her apprenticeship in the Merchant Guild. Haruna had simply been brought along as a guard just in case.
"...At least they've switched off the factories; couldn't breathe last time I came here." Kohaku commented as the carriage approached the palace. "Shame Chief Merchant Ishikawa couldn't join us, he would have been a help with the negotiations." Ishikawa had told her to pack light and bring only one guard, if she wanted to get to the palace in time for the negotiations. "He who travels lightest travels quickest." He said, adding "That was my motto when I was your age."
By the time they had arrived, the dark clouds had burst, sending a rainstorm down on Blankenwald. Haruna and Kohaku looked out the window and sighed to themselves, bringing out the umbrellas they brought with them as they got out of the carriage. After briskly walking over to the front entrance and leaving their umbrellas with an attendant, the two Sagamese representatives waited in the main hall, being the first representatives to arrive.

Kromkarie

The Columbian Delegation

“Drat. The weather is horrible,” the newly-appointed ambassador and high commissioner of the Kromkarie Diplomatic Mission had remarked, watching dark clouds roll over the palace grounds. Blankenwald, and it’s skylines, looked like a dark silhoutte against the dull backdrop. Still high up in the air, their leased passenger dirigible made preparations to land on the designated docking area. Markus inspected as dews slowly slid down the compartment windows. He feared that his suit would get wet. And it was very expensive too.

The ambassador chanced a glance at the State Secretary, sat astride on a comfortable-looking sofa chair. The President had permitted the Secretary’s passage into Kromkarie as part of the Confederacy’s efforts into expanding diplomatic ties. No more splendid isolation from there on. Things with the Grey Empire were getting nastier than usual. On the brink of collapse, some had rumored. The Divine State was at it again, playing their games from the Far East.

Peter Cornelius Tunt gave a grunt. “It seemed a fine season, days ago, to hold the conference. But the Creator above has seen to it that it will rain on our parade, regardless.” And of course, it was only the early months of Spring. Not a few weeks, another person was President. Their little team had been formed in haste, and in anticipation of the coming regional conference. It pleased him greatly. Now, truly, the union wall gain it’s foothold over diplomatic ties. God knows it needs some.

“Unfortunate that President DeWitt could not attend. It is a historic moment,” Ambassador Laszlow noted. “The first of many visits. This is a new age, Pete. A new age for us all. The Confederacy will see it’s place in the world.”

“I know,” the State Secretary mouthed. “After the conference, President DeWitt plans to send delegation to the other nations—particularly in our half of the region. Some embassies in the near Orient should do nicely as well.”

Their conversation had then died down, after exchanging some ideas on who they would likely approach during the conference. An attendant had entered their compartment, informing them of the airship’s descent, and was now initiating docking. Once all of that was out of the way, the rest of the ambassadorial staff and the State Secretary’s own aides had accompanied them on departure, along with five officers of the Internal Affairs. Their head of security was a Lt. Gilmer, and had been tasked directly by the President to safeguard their arrival and return to the Confederacy.

Directed towards the entrance of the palace, the Columbian delegation was the second to arrive at the conference.

Haruna and Kohaku had decided to wait by the front entrance, eyeing the weather and arriving delegates. The approaching airship had gotten their attention, and Haruna had leafed through a book of symbols she had brought with her. "Southron Columbian markings. I see the West have arrived." Haruna remarked. Kohaku looked at the book over Haruna's shoulder, ears twitching. "Southron Columbia? They're the biggest nation across the ocean. Bet they brought a fancy delegation..." She glanced at her own somewhat casual outfit and Haruna's Merchant Guard armored uniform. "...Unlike us."

While Kohaku was saying this, Haruna looked at the approaching Columbian delegation. "You're right. Seems they brought their State Secretary and new ambassador to this one."
A moment of silence.
"You're nervous, aren't you?" Kohaku commented.
"Yeah, you?"
"Definitely."

The State Secretary had decided to lead their delegation into the fray, and the Ambassador Laszlow was all too happy to trail behind. He’d better take a backseat for now, supposing that Tunt wanted as much out of this conference as possible. To their right, beside the head of foreign affairs, was Lt. Gilmer, clad in a pitch-dark suit and overcoat, with matching bowlers. His sergeants, dressed similarly, followed their entourage into the palace dutifully, relaxed but alert. Anything could go down in a conference. He just hopes the place was locked down as tightly as possible. Lots of high profile people would be pouring in.

Markus Laszlow took a brief inspection of the palace interior, impressed enough with the architecture therein. There so much culture to appreciate. This was the point of the Confederacy’s move to diplomacy. To learn more... more about the outside word. But he couldn’t admit but be a little homesick. And of course, who could forget the two women by the entrance. Their distinct apparel was more than enough for Laszlow to guess. Sagamese.

They approached closer to greet the ladies. It seemed they were not the first ones here. He didnt recall an airship by the landing zone either.

“Dignitaries,” Tunt had addressed, “I am Peter Cornelius Tunt, Secretary of State, representing the Confederacy on behalf of the President. And this is Ambassador Markus Laszlow,” he gestured towards Laszlow. Tunt offered an open hand. “And you are?”

Kohaku accepted the offered hand, shaking it. "Kohaku Mizhsima, Secretary Tunt. I'm the assigned delegate from Sagami for this conference. Chief Merchant Ishikawa extends his greetings and apologises that he couldn't make it. The Merchant Guild hasn't had access to airships since the Grey Empire withdrew so we had to come by train. We're the only ones that could get here in time for the conference. Oh, this is Haruna Ishimori, she's my guard for the conference."

"And every other time you go travelling." Haruna added. Kohaku smiled a bit, trying to stay professional. "That too. I'll say why we're here but I suppose the full details can wait for the actual conference. But putting it simply, Sagami wants in on the Airship front but we're lacking the necessary Arium."

Laszlow understood the need for that peculiar mineral. While Arium extraction was better off in the Confederacy, high demand had resorted to a stream of mineral imports from neighboring sources. Not a lot, mind you, but significant enough that it might put a dent to the trade. Airships these days needed lots of Arium. Helium- and hydrogen-based dirigibles were just falling out of fashion, though a cheaper alternative but more likely to explode from a gust of wind or breeze. Just one small spark could ignite the deathtrap.

“A reasonable effort, Ms. Kohaku,” Tunt replied. “The Confederacy is interested not so much in material need, but rather in direct diplomatic relations. We have been, for far too long, closed off from the rest of the world, except for the occasional trade networks here and there. There is a conflict in the horizon. The Grey Empire falters, while the Divine State threatens the subjugation of the region. A united front amongst are nations would be necessary in confronting such dangers.”

Truth be told, the Heartlands couldn’t give two damns about the fate of the continent. They were starting to pull back, fast, and fortifying their stronger position in the west. The Divine State encroaches closer. Damned Far Easterners. Once the Greycloaks are done here, the region will be a free-for-all. Laszlow was certainly looking forward into the perspective of others: would they see the Shenzhou threat for what they were? Would they be pleased with the Greycloaks finally giving up? Or would they see this as an opportunity to scoop up what territory they can?

The Coast’s Delegation

"Hmph, dark clouds ahead over our destination.", a buccaneer dressed in a grey coat with black cuffs, black liner and thin black brims around the buttonholes which was fitted with buttons from melted down silver, said, looking through a spyglass eyeing the dark clouds over Blankenwald in the distance.

He wore brown leather boots and had a faded light-green bandana. Under his coat, he had a dirty, white shirt. An orange sash with some yellow stains hanged from under a leather belt with a patinated bronze buckle and a leather baldric with a big, frame-shaped silver buckle, a smaller silver loop and a silver cover at the end, all three elaborately ornamented, completing his outfit. On his left hand he wore a black leather gauntlet, presumably in order to protect the hand. On his head, he carried a big, round, and dark hat that was adorned with feathers, most likely from a sort of bird. This man was none other than the Pirate Lord of Croscaunt, Hilther Barbarossa.

He had been put in charge of this diplomatic errand, but in truth had no interest in dealings with squabbling landlubbers. Currently, he and 4 other pirates were aboard a small transport air-vessel enroute to the conferance.

Stepping up beside him was another well-dressed buccaneer. "Aye, sir. You sure 'bout going on this.. Whatd'ya call it? 'Diplo-smatich' journey?"

Barbarossa eyed the other buccaneer with annoyance before looking through his spyglass again. "It's called 'diplomatic'. And no. The least we can expect out of this would be to get a layout of the city."

The pirate nodded shortly before moving away.

Seconds of silence turned to minutes as the small airship moved closer to the city before eventually landing at the designated landing area, allowing Barbarossa and his 4 pirate companions to disembark. The group of five eyed their surroundings with little care, instead opting to walk forward towards the great palace.

Kohaku nodded in approval, the two delegates wrapping up their quick meeting when she noticed the new arrivals. Immediately Kohaku and Haruna's smiles turned into frowns. "Pirates. How did they get an invitation..." Kohaku muttered. She turned back to Tunt with a look of unhappiness. "That's another reason why we want armed airships; to protect our cargo vessels. I'd be wary of saying information around them, they're probably doing scouting to plan for future raids." She whispered to him, her words inaudible to the Pirates arriving.

The State Secretary chanced a glance. While his face remained unchanged, he nodded an agreement with the Sagamese representative. “Yes, that maybe so,” he answered, “but their presence shows, perhaps, even some semblance of solidarity with the continent. They may see the Divine State as a bigger threat to the Broken Coast.” A rather optimistic point of view, Laslow observed, but not without merit. Certainly, there was probably some humanity with even the scum of the earth. Criminals had standards. Perhaps these pirates as well?

Middle predor

Aeronef engines droned as a courier aeronef made its way to Blankenwald, the cruisers following it peeling away at the border to start their long journey home. Middle Predor had had some difficulty in sending their delegation, as it had needed sufficient escort to ensure the safety of those onboard while travelling through Grey Empire airspace. To a small nation like Middle Predor, the tattered remains of the Grey Empire were still a notable threat.
But as the small aeronef descended over Blankenwald to its designated cradle, King Albin could only breathe a sigh of relief at their arrival. Ironically, for the king of a nation heavily reliant on airships, he'd never felt entirely at home aboard one, and the long, fraught journey overland had not made it any better.

The little airship touched down into the embrace of its cradle, and the full delegation was free to disembark. First off was Albin, followed by his eldest son Prince Elwin, the Foreign Affairs minister, Lord Wyman, a special aide-de-camp to the king and his assistant, and a collection of diplomats and assorted assistants. Last off was the guard of five Royal Guardsmen, looking distinctly sour in their gold cloaks at having to keep their rifles locked in the aeronef's contraband locker.

The party moved up to the palace, entering the main hall with little fanfare. While, at first glance, they were the largest group in the room, their own nation was not exactly dominating the region in any real sense.
The aide-de-camp spotted the small tête-à-tête going on between the Sagamese and Confederate representatives, and casually wandered off in that general direction.

Prime Minister Sir Jamie Williamson, a slime tall man wearing a black suit with black gloves and large glasses walks over to the newly arrived delegates. Just before Jamie reaches the guests a KMIA agent pulls him aside with concerns about security in relation to some of the delegates.

In a whisper the agent says, "Prime Minister, we are concerned about the Laiakia delegates, they have a reputation of being uncivilised pirates. We will be increasing KMIA presence at the dock and the palace as well as alerting the imperial navy of the arrivals."

"What about the others, anything I should be concerned with." Jamie whispers back.

"The delegates from Sagami arrived via train, we are lucky they weren't taken by rebels since the only trainlines into Kromkarie pass through Northex and the checkpoint at Alverton."

Once hearing this, Sir Jamie dismissed the agent and continued on his way towards the delegates. "Greetings and welcome to the conference and might I say thankyou for arriving on time. I am Prime Minister Sir Jamie Williamson, but you may address me as Sir Williamson. I imagine you may be a bit nervous of all the people dressed in black uniforms holding rifles, but do not worry, they are watching you, keeping you safe as we stabilise what we have liberated from the Grey Empire. Without further ado, please follow me to the banquet hall where you can meet more Kromkariean ministers and discuss over snacks."

Sir Jamie leads the currently arrived delegates to the banquet hall while saying, "We have many types of food all from our best state chefs, and yes we do have alcohol for those who negotiate on the wild side." Jamie says while rolling his eyes and glancing at the Laiakian delegates. "The feast will begin once the rest of the nations arrive, until then discuss what you wish with the ambience of our orchestra."

The Predorian delegates spread out somewhat across the banquet hall, mingling with others in the hall, as did their guards, who took up convenient positions to watch over the hall and returned the stony-faced stares of the KMIA agents with their own particular brand of stony-faced stare. The Royal Guards had seen bloody fighting during Middle Predor's rebellion, and were battle-hardened veterans all.
Although at this moment they were content with simply watching.

The aide, who had been momentarily distracted by the banquet hall, once again wandered over to the Sagamese and Confederate delegates. Dressed in the traditional wingcloak and duelling sword of a noble, yet wearing the uniform of a staff of the Royal Palace in Middle Predor, he was something of an oddity among the Predorian delegates.

Pirate Lord Barbarossa and his following nodded along to the Kromkarie Prime Minister as he spoke generally to everyone. After the man stopped speaking, the pirates moved off to the side of the banquet hall, creating some distance between them and the more 'civilized' delegates. Leaning on a wall, Barbarossa reached into his coat and pulled out a green apple, taking a huge bite of it and letting some of its juice spill down his chin. The rest of the buccaneers mingeled amongst themselves, watching the other delegates do their own things.

Laszlow, ever the wandering eye, had noticed that brief interaction between the Prime Minister and that other man. Though, he had dismissed it as nothing more than routine, the glance the Prime Minister had given was more than enough of a hint that he had a problem with the pirate lord delegates.

He leaned on in towards the State Secretary, as he conversed further with the Sagamese representative and her companion. Something along the lines of airspace security and the Confederacy’s own Revenue Marine Cutter Services—who were primarily responsible for mercantile protection. In addition to the occasional privateer, it made for a fast acting task force, while resources and battleships could be devoted to more important duties.

“As I was saying, I believe our current system of cutter, backed by the Coast Guard, to be a more flexible and less expensive alternative to fielding entire battleships, and more vessels can be commissioned as a result. Battleships are costly, but not without merit. It is a good form of power projection and dissuade any belligerents from planning attacks,” Tunt addressed the Sagamese mistress. “The Confederacy, however, is still reluctant to open up. Why the need for a larger military when we’ve consigned ourselves to non-interventionism?”

“The Predorians are approaching, Mr. Secretary,” an aide informed the head of the State department. Laszlow turned his head. The Predorian King, His Majesty Albin, had arrived without much... issue. In the history of kings and lords, they usually brought with them much fanfare. But it seems their hosts had assured their arrivals to be as quiet as possible. Good, he thought. The conference didn’t need more attention than it already has. He eyed the ‘diplomats’ of the Broken Coast, and chanced an quick look at the monarch. It seemed one of the Predorian delegation’s aides were nearing.

Laslow had the mind to attempt a dialogue with the Pirate Lord present. ‘Open up horizons’ as they say, though he doubts Tunt would be pleased. They were criminals, after all.

The aide casually wandered into the conversation on hand with all the calm of a destroyer slotting neatly into its parade formation as he addressed the State Secretary.
"Well, that may be true. Non-interventionalism does let you get away without all the tiresome meddlings of building up an actual military. However, as my own country has discovered, simply staying out of other's paths does not guarantee you will remain untroubled, hence our own attempts at rebuilding."
He bowed his head in turn to the State Secretary and the Sagamese representative. "A delight to meet you. Duke Tritten, at your service. I'm an, ah, special assistant to the Crown."

The Fros'turne's Late Delegation

After an incompetent border patrol officer held up the Fros'turne delegation for an arduous and unnecessary search of their courier ship they finally arrived at Blankenwald. Knowing they're late the delegation (made up of the Fros'turne foreign affairs minister Bjorn Larsen, the president's wife Eli Jorgensen and the CEO of Raven Industries Eirik Moller) attempted to sneak into the banquet hall but were noticed by a KMIA agent and asked 'Why they were late'? Bjorn tells them the reason why they're late and before he could finish his story the agent says "Fine, I'll look into this border patrol officer, you three hurry up and mingle with the other guests." The delegation notices there are pirates from the Broken Coast and all agree to avoid them as much as possible while talking with the other guests until the banquet ends.
