Goooooooooood morning, Refugi and assorted friends,

To follow up on my previously-scheduled announcement, the first official Refuge Game Night of my Culture term is set! We received nine responses on the poll for what time would be best tomorrow, and the answer -unanimously- was Midnight GMT (17:00 Eastern, 14:00 Pacific, 11:00 New Zealand, etc).

We will be playing Skribbl.io. Keep an eye on this space, I will post a link to the room approximately 5-10 minutes before the scheduled start time, so that everyone can make their fun avatars if they do not already have one.

If you have any questions, please let me know!

Alright, thank you all for the advice :-)

Post self-deleted by Liphia.

So... here in Iceland we've had 29 earthquakes since midnight ranging from 2.9 to 5.2 on the ritcher scale. The biggest one was on Wednesday when the shaking reached heights of 5.7.
An earthquake of up to 6.5 is possible in the next few days and a volcanic eruption is expected in the next century.
I've been on the countryside for a week and I have barely felt 3 of the biggest, but now I've returned home to the capital which is much closer to the point of origin of the quakes.

If you want I can keep you informed about the circumstances in a daily, more detailed post covering all of the nerdy stuff and stats.
Just let me know:)

Feel free to write dispatches about it if you want. Stay safe!

Update: I found the lyrics on Youtube, and posted my English version here: http://stage.co.il/Stories/537397143

Thanks everyone who turned out for Game Night, it was a lot of fun! I'll try to set up more of these with a variety of free-to-play games online, Skribbl was just an easy starter one.

Aw, I'm too late!

Oh my god I'm so sorry, I gave the wrong time in GMT! That's absolutely my fault. Every other listed timezone was correct, but I absolutely messed it up for the bolded one.

I'll do better next time everyone, I promise. Sorry again D:

Oof I thought it was in 20 minutes...

Welcome Harmonious people, Zenarchist federation, and Greattondirld to Refugia! I hope you enjoy your stay. If it applies to you pay attention to the rest of this message:

If you have any questions about the region or how NationStates works feel free to leave it here on the RMB! You can also join our Discord server found at the top of the page within our region description. We're all friendly and don't bite!

If you haven't already, consider joining the World Assembly (located on the left sidebar) which will allow you to become a Member State! Member States are able to get a spot on our map (link in the region's description), vote in regional polls, and even run for office when elections come up! If you're not interested in that, that's completely fine! We're a chill laid back community and we aim to make everyone's experience here as wonderful as possible.

Hi!

Thank you for the kind welcome! I am new to this game and still trying to figure out what the heck im doing, lol. I think I'll jump on the server any day now - as soon as work gives me a break long enough to actually focus on this. I feel really old for saying that out loud haha.

Question: I see we have envoys in certain regions. (Ones that we have embassies in, at least) What is the purpose of an envoy, and how are they assigned?

We only have envoys with regions we have embassies with. The job of an envoy is to provide updates to the region they are assigned to about important Refugi happenings and to report back about important things happening in the region they are assigned to. For example, I am the envoy for Spiritus. I report important things to them in their Discord server (and say nice things on the RMB sometimes!) and report important Spiritus events back to Refugia. A person who becomes an envoy is someone who volunteers to become one. I'm sure there are reasons why a volunteer may NOT be allowed to become an envoy but whatever that might be would likely be up to the FA Councillor to decide.

The only real requirement is that the volunteer be a member state.

Notice:

Heya. I'm here to announce the results of the election for the next Councillor of the Interior: (https://vote.calref.network/results/12)

Araine received 13 first preference votes.
Liphia received 4 first preference votes.
Laisou received 2 first preference votes.

As Araine has achived 68% of votes on the first rounds, additional runoff rounds will not be necessary, and Araine wins the election outright. Congrats to the new Councillor! I have full confidence that the next term is going to go great.

My condolences to the election's runners up, please don't be dissuaded, you all have awesome futures ahead of you, and I look forward to seeing what you'll do in the future, even that's just talking to us.

Please join me in thanking Melenavenia for the last eight months of service to the region, chasing after spammers to suppress and welcoming new arrivals to let the know that they matter. I really appreciate all the feedback he's given in Floor 16 when we've been thinking about things, and all of the effort that he gave the region to keep us going. It's really been awesome having him around.

Notice:

I am now taking candidates for the final election of this cycle, the Councillor of World Assembly Affairs, whose responsibilities are defined as facilitating discussions on World Assembly resolutions-at-vote, developing dispatches with Information For Voters (IFV) on current resolutions at vote, and providing regional recommendations for votes to the World Assembly Delegate.

This term runs from March 8th to July 4th, there are presently no member states barred from standing for office.

The candidacy period begins at this time and will last until the end of the day Tuesday March 2nd. If you wish to run, please announce your intentions in Ground Floor or here in the RMB.

Congratulations, Araine! I look forward to seeing what you do with the office.

I don't think there's a great deal of conversation to be had on this next vote, but I've been slacking too much lately, so let's at least acknoweldge the Gay Panic Defense Ban.

This one does what it says on the tin. If passed, it would ban the perception of a person's sex, gender, or sexuality as justification or defense of a crime. It's refreshing to see a progressive, pro-LGBT piece of legislation in the chamber, and I don't see anything objectionable in its two operative clauses. That's really all there to say here; the rest is ideological, but any decent person ought to be in favour of this. And credit where credit is due, IA actually made a proposal significantly cleaner and easier to understand.

Hi. I just wish to let you know you are not the only working person playing this game! Sadly, work overload is preventing me from spending more time on NationStates. Burn down the sweatshops! Freedom to the people! (j/k, I'm my own boss more or less). Enjoy your stay!

Hello, the Economy trend shows economic freedom right? Is it possible to see the trend in economic strength/growth anywhere?
