CVP Leadership Election set for May 1; Chancellor Wolter to face two competitors for chair
Per his campaign promise, Chancellor Hermann Wolter has called a convention of the Christian People's Party (CVP) national committee for the purposes of choosing a chairman. Wolter, whose tenure as Reich Chancellor was brought to an end by the wire-tapping scandal, has announced his intentions to run for the leadership once again at the May 1 meeting in Falkenstein. However, two challengers have presented themselves as alternate candidates, promising a contentious convention that may damage the CVP image further.

Alongside Chancellor Wolter, the other two running for the chair are Finance Minister Katherine Reiner, who has opted to present herself as a fiscally-conservative, socially moderate candidate, and Reichstag member Friedrich Kardorff, a staunch social conservative and nationalist who has in the past voiced support for a potential CVP-KNP coalition. Initial polling suggests that Wolter and Reiner are closely matched while Kardorff is third, potentially making him a spoiler in the upcoming vote.

LDP leader Judith Eckstein, whose party won the 2021 Reichstag election, has noticeably increased her vow to not work with the CVP should Wolter be reelected as chairman, while it is also unlikely she would work with Kardorff should he be elected as well. CVP members have accused Eckstein and their former liberal allies of trying to influence the party's vote, which is potentially injurious to Reiner's candidacy as she has been construed as a liberal puppet.

The voting is scheduled to commence around 11 AM on May 1, with a winner determined within a few hours afterwards.

Kaiser Friedrich tours SMS Stalstatt amidst Government formation talks
In an unusual move, Kaiser Friedrich has stepped away from the political sphere to tour the battleship SMS Stalstatt, which recently came out of a significant refit to keep her seaworthy in Hummelshaven. The Kaiser's decision to tour the warship, including meeting with the ship's officers and crew and then delivering a short speech on deck, has caused outcry back in Falkenstein, particularly from the LDP which won the recent elections to the Reichstag. Many within the LDP, as well as the other major parties, decried the Kaiser's tour as politically motivated and unnecessary as the Congress struggles to put together a working coalition government.

Defending the Kaiser's actions, a spokesman for the Imperial Office responded that the Kaiser was 'doing nothing more than his constitutional duty of representing the state and its people,' and as such 'sought to meet with the brave men and women of the Navy.' There have been some allusions that the Kaiser's actions mirror his great-great-grandfather Kaiser Wilhelm II's fondness for the Navy.

2nd practice session leaves a crash

Today the 2nd free practice session around Zhognia Racing stadium left a crash. The Solisjet of Tim Brighten and the StrayNrg of Rob Swindall went into the barriers in a straight, as Rob opened DRS and tried an overtake on Tim, they were entering the breaking zone as their neared turn 15, but Rob missed the breaking zone and crashed onto the back of Tim's car and sent them both to the barriers. This was Tim's team radio at the moment:

- What the F&$@ is he doing!! Honestly, is he a stupid kid or what.
- Engineer: We are checking
- Engineer: Okay.. Yeah he crashed onto you.
- Yeah guess he lost the breaking zone.
- DRS as always. Just hits me in the back.

And this team radio is from Rob:

-Ah S&%$$$.
-Sorry. Crashed onto him
-Engineer: Copy.
-Engineer: We see you missed breaking. Be careful next time with that turn and the DRS on the straight
-Yeah

3rd practice session leaves a great lap for ZhogTech Racing

The 3rd practice session in the Zhognia Racing Stadium was full of surprises. Albert Borsk made a stunning lap, the best one in all sessions. Meanwhile, Luke Sanchez's LightRay Racing went into the barriers in his 3rd lap, after he lost control of the car in the main straight. Brian Tyran left the session as well because some debris of Albert Borsk's car made him have a puncture on his front-left tyre. He was outraged when he exited the the car, he said it was "unacceptable for a professional FH driver to crash in a straight."
We will see tomorrow what the results are in the Zhognia GP Qualifying.

Worker's Party members protest at Palace of Congress
Despite the losses suffered by the Worker's Party (AP) in last week's election, its members appear to have not accepted the results of the election. Nearly 1,000 members of the party staged a large protest outside the Palace of Congress this morning, demanding transparency in the tallying of election results. Among the protesters were four members of the party's Congressional delegation that were voted out of office.

Violence was limited to a few attacks on police members who supervised the protests, and a total of 13 arrests were made over the course of the morning. AP leader Konrad Tollemacht, who was not present at the protest, has continually questioned the results and claims without evidence that the Worker's Party won a majority in the Reichstag despite evidence to the contrary. Calls have already been made by Reichstag members of opposing parties to censure or otherwise penalize Tollemacht and the AP for their conduct after the election, arguing it is dangerous to the nation's democratic institutions.

United Socialist Party, Ecological Democractic Party announce Merger
After weeks of discussion and negotiations, the left-wing United Socialist Party (VSP) and Ecological Democratic Party (ODP) have formally agreed to a merger of their parties. The chairs of both parties - Gunther Beyersdorf for the VSP and Alexandra Kopp of the ODP - have agreed to a common declaration that begins the process of the two parties formally merging after a year and a half of independence. The new party name has not yet been revealed, however the agreement speculates that at this time the fused party will be known simply as the VSP-ODP Union.

Both Beyersdorf and Kopp have agreed to a new leadership election for the new party, which will also formally decide the name of the new party. With Congress set to reconvene in one week, it is likely the leadership election will be held some time in June to allow for government negotiations to conclude.

Wolter, Reiner head into second round of voting at CVP Convention
The first ballot of the CVP's leadership election was held just over an hour ago, and the results are showing that Chancellor Hermann Wolter won a plurality of the delegate votes, but narrowly missed the required majority. His opponents, Finance Minister Katherine Reiner and Reichstag Member Friedrich Kardorff, placed second and third respectively. The tally of delegate votes can be found below:

Wolter: 755
Reiner: 639
Kardoff: 156
Scattering: 5

Party bylaws state that Kardorff will be eliminated in the upcoming second ballot scheduled for this afternoon, leaving Wolter and Reiner to face off in a head-to-head match. Many believe Wolter will be reelected as Kardorff's more socially conservative faction will be unlikely to support the moderate Reiner.

Wolter wins CVP Leadership vote, endangering government talks
The second round of voting at the CVP leadership convention has resulted in Hermann Wolter retaining his control over the Christian People's Party, narrowly defeating his Finance Minister Katherine Reiner in the balloting. Wolter secured a majority of 877 votes, while Reiner managed to garner only 678. The former Chancellor gave a short speech after the vote thanking his supporters while also promising to continue government talks with the LDP.

By contrast, LDP leader Judith Eckstein has so far stood by her promise to refuse to negotiate with the CVP should Wolter be reelected as chairman. Without the CVP, the LDP's only other coalition partner that could yield a majority would be the newly created VSP-ODP Union, although Eckstein herself has been hesitant to encourage negotiations with the left-wing parties so far.

My campaign launch to become a member of the RP Committee

Monzievard for Roleplay Committee

Introduction

Today I launch my campaign to become a member of the Roleplay Committee.

Firstly, I'd like to congratulate everyone on the success of the region's RP so far. On my return to the region, I was impressed to see the quality and extent of roleplay from citizens on both the RMB and Discord. Especially the variety of RP as well, from formula 1 to technological pursuits it was great to see a change from the usual war RP. The community here is our greatest asset when it comes to ensuring meaningful, creative and enjoyable RP and if elected to the committee this is something I would want to promote and nurture. Though I unfortunately had to leave the region for some time due to personal reasons, I believe that I have the experience and desire to implement plans that will further enhance the region's RP. Personally, I want to begin developing my nation's lore and history and I would love to work with you all as a committee member to create shared connections between our nations and create something we can all be proud of. As the campaign progresses if you have any questions or want to contact me please feel free to do so either through Discord or NS Telegrams.

My experience

Whilst I recognise that I will have to work to regain people's trust after my departure and that action speaks louder than any of the credentials I've been awarded with, I believe it is important that I briefly show you all that I have the experience it takes to be an effective committee member:

Achievements

Monzievard

  • Creator of the Roleplay Committee

  • Former member of the Roleplay Committee

  • Founder of the RWAGP.

  • Founder of the first political party in the Red Wolf Alliance.

  • First Secretary General of the alliance.

  • Former Secretary of Regional Affairs.

  • Winner of the Shallia Award. The region's highest award possible.

My plans as a committee member
  • Promote realistic RP whilst still allow creativity to flourish by continuing the former committee's land card project.

  • Ensure accountability and fairness by updating the RP Guidelines to stipulate rules regarding time, military sizes and guidelines to ensure responsible roleplay. The guidelines haven't been updated in over 2 years so I believe this should be a matter of priority to ensure that we have guidelines that people can seek accurate help and support from.

  • Implement a long-term pre-approved calendar of events to ensure that roleplay is promoted and sustained during quieter months and periods of inactivity. These would be small yet fun and impactful events as to not disrupt player initiated RP too much such as natural disasters, discovery of resources, minor political events etc. Citizens would be asked for input and would vote on the final plans to ensure community participation.

  • Increase the committee's transparency by publishing regular reports to inform citizens and government of our work and to show to the region whether or not we are meeting targets, future plans and areas of concern.

  • Work with the cartographer to reform the map to allow for more interesting plots for newcomers and increase the number of geographical landmarks (rivers, lakes, mountains, deserts etc.) to allow for diverse geopolitics which will further enhance RP.

Government Talks Stalled as Deadlock between three largest parties loom
Despite having met three times in as many days, the leaders of the Liberal Democratic Party, the Christian People's Party, and the newfound VSP-ODP Union have failed to come to any sort of a consensus on forming a new government for Stalstatt. LDP leader Judith Eckstein has confirmed she would not consider a coalition with the CVP due to the reelection of former Chancellor Wolter as its leader, while she has also been hesitant to accept the multitude of government intervention programs proposed by the Union. Wolter and Union leaders Gunter Beyersdorf and Alexandra Kopp also have been unable to start negotiations due to their disparate political differences.

Kaiser Friedrich, having returned from Hummelshaven to a growing political crisis, has attempted to settle the situation by requesting the party leaders continue to meet, but has been met with growing discontent as well as those on the political left have begun demanding a republic once again.

For the first time, CVP leader Wolter acknowledged that his party may have to enter negotiations with the Conservative Nationalist Party to try to find support, even though this too would not be sufficient to form a stable government. The Reichstag is set to reconvene on May 10, and per the constitution a government or coalition has to be presented to the body for approval. Should this not occur, 30 additional days are allotted to permit for the formation of a government, after which a new election would have to be held.

Rail Disaster claims 30 lives and multiple injuries outside Hotzendorf
A ReichsBahn inter-city commuter train crashed into a stopped freight train outside Hotzendorf this morning, claiming the lives of 30 while causing nearly twice as many injuries. Initial inquiries are placing the blame on the nearby switch yard, which was responsible for sending the commuter train on its way out of the city and northbound towards Falkenstein. The commuter train rear-ended a 44-car freight train that was holding for permission to continue westward, with a final destination being Strassenburg. No one on the freight train was injured in the crash.

First responders to the crash noted that the first two carriages of the commuter train had compacted due to the high speed prior to the crash, while all of the remaining cars except the last two had derailed in a zig-zag pattern against the first two cars. Most of the deaths occurred in the first two cars, while the injuries were scattered around the remaining carriages. Two signal boxes were present and showing red prior to the siding the freight was on, however these preceded the switch that the commuter train was put on.

Heliosetic Radars detect another ICBM

Some military radars detected an Inter Continental Ballistic Missile last night, it was inside the Crackensburg airspace and it flew just above the city of Crackensburg. It is the 5th ICBM detected this month. And it could become a cause for concern. Before all airprts were closed, SolisJet Flight 7465 saw the missile fly on the Crackensburg Airspace in one of its routine flights from Nuevo Helios Intl Airport to Oktorbus Intl. This was the Captain's conversation with the ATC.

-Good day Crackensburg Radar this is Solis 7465, we are currently watching a non identified object just above the Airspace.
-Copy, could you describe that object?
-Looks like a missile to me.
-Roger that, stay away from it and keep on your cruise altitude. If it gets closer descend to 20,000Ft
-Copy that, Solis 7465.

(5 minutes later)

-Good day Solis 7465 this is Crackensburg Radar, i have just been informed it is a missile, stay away from it and descend to 20,000Ft and maintain cruise speed.

There we go. Day 1. We caught a rebel commander. Was easy, some spies saw him in his car, just going to a Heli'O'Mart. Sounds stupid, but its a truth. I received the call and went to that Heli'O'Mart with a normal car for a citizen. A Heltian FX-8 Hybrid. Then, the rest of it was easy. I told him that we had some "Information about the remaining Allies" and that I could show it to him. The rest of it was easy. Brought him to the base, we imprisoned him and we will ask him some questions later. That's our first one, and it won't be the last, at least until we re-take what is ours.

Today we had our first tough situation. Some members of the union (including me) pulled up to the meeting zone to receive some cargo. Just to find out that they have told some strange clan about us and our plans, so when we arrived we were held at gunpoint. We defended ourselves, though. We took them out and got the cargo. We even took some prisoners to the hut.

Then, the rebel we caught yesterday tried to escape, and I went in my car to 'rescue' him, I told him that I was a prisoner and I stole one of their cars. He fell for it. I took him to a motel somewhere in Petra, bought him a room for 2 days and a flight ticket to Helierian-Helia, and shot him when he tried to call one of his rebel friends. Thats 1 rebel gone.

South pacific central powers

February 19, 2116, 23:00. Sector F4. The 79th Ceasefire began three years ago. Prior to that no ceasefire had ever lasted longer than two weeks. It is difficult to imagine the future bloodshed that would be required to justify such a long lasting peace, though perhaps a lack of violence would be better fitting to describe the ceasefire than peace. In the South Pacific Central Powers, peace is an illusion. The collective dream of untold millions who deep inside know they will never see it. Soon the ceasefire would end and hundreds of thousands if not millions would pay for the last three years in blood. At Depot B32758 in Sector F4 the 134th Cannon Fodder Division, and the 542nd Infantry Division, alongside the 97th Infantry Division at Sector G5, would prepare to assault Sector G4 which was currently under the control of the Eastern islai confederation. Private Taras, a seventeen year old soldier, was sitting on the southern bank of the Danya River. At seventeen he had been in the army for two years, normally this would make him a war hardened veteren but no, the 79th Ceasefire had allowed millions to survive in the army for over a year. However unlike many of his comrades, Private Taras was not nervous for his first real battle. For his two friends Private Miron and Private Ludomir were being deployed with him. Taras had grown up with those two. They met in the government care centers and were later assigned together in the same factory, and now they were assigned together in the same military unit. With the three of them together, they would survive any ordeal, and overcome any obstacle, or so they thought. Eventually their commanding officer would return to them from the northern end of the Danya River, having just recieved orders from General Sidorchuk, who would be commanding the forces in the local area. Private Taras and his division, the 542nd, were directed to march south alongside the 134th Cannon Fodder Division to assist the 97th Infantry Division, who had already begun the assault on Sector G4. The members of the 542nd, and the 134th would begin the march south to the ever increasing sound of gunfire in the distance. As Private Taras and his comrades crossed over some hills they would see their target in a valley perfectly despite the darkness, as it was well illuminated by constant gunfire. The East Islain's did not notice the approach of the 542nd and 134th however, as they were busy fighting waves of soldiers from the 97th Infantry Division. To the southwest, South Pacifian soldiers from the 97th exchanged gunfire with the defending East Islain soldiers. South Pacifian marksmen slowly picking off defenders who attempted to leave cover, and East Islain defenders sending volleys of bullets at anyone who dared get too close from the relative safety of their bunkers and hastily constructed machinegun nests. Seeing how the soldiers of the 97th were being slaughtered by the East Islain defenders, Private Taras' commanding officer ordered the 542nd to begin their assault. Taras would be the fourth wave in the charge, he knew he was incredibly fortunate to be in his position, being in the first wave would have been a death sentence. As the fourth wave of the assault began, a series of loud booms could be heard in the distance, artillery from a nearby East Islain fort. Within in a moment the hill southwest of Private Taras would be lit up by East Islain heavy guns. Any South Pacifian soldiers from the 97th who had survived the initial assault were now surely dead. Nothing could survive the firepower of a fortresses long range artillery. Even with this happening, Private Taras knew he could not stop. Stopping now would result in his death and the death of Miron and Ludomir. If he wished to survive, he would have to continue pushing forwards, no matter what happened. As he charged through the battlefield, Miron and Ludomir by his side, he could not help but feel that everything he had worked for in his life was all for nothing. That all the men fighting here, regardless of their loyalties, were doing it all for nothing and that they would all be forgotten. However this train of thought was cut short as blood would spray in his face and obscure his vision as it covered the goggles on his gasmask. He knew what had happened without needing to look beside him. He knew that one of his oldest friends, Miron, was lying on the ground beside him. Most certainly dead. But Private Taras did not look. He knew what he would see if he did. And he did not have the strength to see what horrible things had happened to his friend. As Ludomir and Taras closed in on the East Islain fortifications, the fighting got even fiercer. The East Islain defenders would not let the South Pacific Army capture their base without having to kill everyone inside first. Eventually Taras and his comrades arrived about fifty meters from the main entrance to the East Islain base. At the entrance were three soldiers, wearing the uniforms of the East Islain Special Forces, though this was not known to Private Taras or his comrades as they had never seen such important military personnel before, especially not that of the enemy. These enemy soldiers were nothing like what Taras had been trained to fight against. They were faster, more experienced, significantly better trained, and significantly better equipped. At their feet were the corpses of dozens, possibly hundreds, of South Pacifian soldiers. They fired bursts of perfectly placed shots using weapons of greater quality and better technology than anything Taras or his comrades had seen. Rifles that held as many rounds as a submachinegun, and could fire them all just as quickly. A machinegun smaller than anything Taras had seen, yet capable of firing two, if not three times as fast as the machineguns he had seen prior, while still being more accurate. These soldiers were capable of slaughtering countless average soldiers with relative ease. However they could not continue to hold back the waves of South Pacifian soldiers forever. Slowly but surely they would tire, their ammunition would run out, and they would be killed. But the East Islain soldiers knew this would happen eventually, and were determined to take as many South Pacifian soldiers with them as they could. Eventually they would be defeated, leaving the entrance of the East Islain base open for the South Pacifian Army to storm the base. Though such a victory came at a heavy cost. While Taras survived, Ludomir did not. One could describe the current state of Ludomir as being like swiss cheese, full of holes. Though nobody here would make such a connection as the concept of swiss cheese or cheese in general was unknown to them. The South Pacifian soldiers fought for every meter through the long corridors of the base, eventually reaching the sublevels where most of the storage warehouses and other facilities were. When clearing rooms they would occasionally find civilians who had been living there, most likely working in the storage facilities or elsewhere. Taras and his comrades were ordered to leave the civilians alone, and that someone else would be sent to deal with them. They continued on through the base, killing any East Islain soldiers still left. But eventually the base would go quiet. They had won. Countless men and women had died for this victory. Private Taras and his comrades would be given permission to rest as reinforcements from Sector F4 and G5 were on the way. When the reinforcements did arrive, they would find the rooms where Taras and his comrades had found civilians hiding and screams of agony and the peculiar whooshing noise made by flamethrowers would be heard shortly after. An outsider might consider such acts cruel, but the South Pacifian Army rarely took prisoners, and for those who were prisoners, they could testify that death was a preferable fate. Eventually in the morning it would be announced that over fifty eight thousand South Pacifian soldiers died that night. Fifty eight thousand died for such a small, insignificant piece of land that would surely be taken back by the Eastern islai confederation in a year or two. But that was the price to be paid for the last three years. And while things seemed bad now, they would only get worse. While many had already died, significantly more soldiers would die in the future. That is how things are, that is how things have always been and always will be. Glory to General Levi. Glory to the South Pacific Central Powers.
