Well, because grenades are compact and convenient, and relatively inexpensive devices that can be deployed on an individual level.
Where as what you would do is impractical, and extremely expensive.

Although it isn’t as fun as dropping an ac-130 of explosive pandas on someone’s head just think about how much protection you could have for the same price, also it’s supporting a region-mate in need
