I have a feeling if I just say "Open, Friend" in elvish the invisible ink in Shevik's post would reveal itself.

I feel you, Echoriath. I tried as well, to no avail. There is something magical with Shevik's post.

If I have to guess, I have the feeling that the hidden text is actually the recipe for the Beetroot Stew a la Rivendell.

Surely this phenomenon belongs to the Realm of the Unseen. Wraith witchery, I'd reckon...

Hi.
Ya, sadly.
Also that red button below the WFE of regions...
I had several unwanted sad fat finger movements.
I wonder if they don't wanna change that because it would interfere with the raider-defender-game? For issues there is this confirm-first button.

Tatarica wrote:I'm still slightly lost when it comes to this N-day.

From what I understand - if I want to participate I have to join a faction, else I am not in the event.

So its different from the Z-Day event, where you participate in it even if you want or not;

I like the fact that you can simply opt out when it comes to the total global (and beyond) atomic war.

I went surfing

Hi! I'm a recreational update surfer, and I'm here as this is a particularly early updating region!

Hello, I went surfing, and welcome to Middle Earth!

I had no idea that our region is among the first part among those in the update list, but interesting thing to know.

If you're planning to do your surfing for the R&D aspect of the game, know that we're not involved in that. Generally, we're a tolkienite community and if you share any similarities with that then you're more than welcome to check us out! I say 'generally' because we're not just tolkienites and don't shy away from other discussions.

New regional poll: Who is your chosen housemate?

Congratulations on being featured, Lothlorien and Lady Galadriel!

As for myself, the obvious answer would be Galadriel. Sure, my perception can be skewed, but what's not to like in a lady elf that has beauty, knowledge, and power - and wields the ring Nenya ? (totally not biased because of Lady Galadriel's name)

Arwen would be a close second, but just because I am just a weak mortal man and we are to assume the answer has to revolve around staying at home with them during a pandemic.

If I were to select a 3rd pick not based on looks, I'd go with Bilbo. He has his own fair share of stories to pass the time if I am interested to hear, and if I'm not I know that he'll be busy writing his memoirs. And, obviously, no one will suffer from hunger.

Luinil

My answer would have been Bombadilo. Living in a house in the woods? Not caring about the world news? Chillin like villain with great boots? Yes please!

Yes I had to pick her too, maybe only because she would be less boring than Elrond...

Goldberry makes a lovely range of pies as well, along with yellow cream and honeycomb, and white bread, and butter; milk, cheese, and green herbs and ripe berries gathered.

Z-Day 2020 Draws Nigh!

Our scouts have returned with dire news: The Dread Necromancer marches toward our fair lands, and brings with them a foul army of the walking dead. Their best estimates are that this menace will arrive in two weeks.

Thus all nations of Middle Earth should pay heed - a day reckoning fast approaches - a time that some call "Z-Day". It will be a dark day - a day that dead will shuffle into our forests and towns, a day in which they shall claw and gnash our peoples, a day in which all we hold dear on this good earth will hang in the balance. However, if the nations of Middle Earth band together, and stand against this evil tide with a resolve of iron, this shall not be our last day. Thus, we urge all of our peoples to prepare themselves to stand ready when this horde of Barrow-Wights arrives on October 31st.

What you can do now:
Make a note on your calendar for Oct 31-Nov 1. The assault typically lasts between a day and 36 hours - on Halloween day. Resolve to spend as much of that time as you can helping to defend Middle Earth. Even if the time you spend is short, every little bit helps our region. Last year Middle Earth did very well, ranking highly amoung the regions of the world in terms of the number of survivors.

What you can do at the very start of Z-Day:
Log in, and set your nation to begin researching a cure. This will take some time - probably an hour or two. As time goes on, your "cure missiles" will become more potent.

What you can do the rest of Z-Day:
At any time you have a spare moment, log into your nation and launch some cure missiles at your neighbors in Middle Earth. A cure missile converts a small percentage of zombies back into normal living people, so its most effective to target those nations with the greatest absolute total number of zombies. Any nation that launches at least one cure missile and does not intentionally attack others with undead hordes will get a special, limited edition "Badge of the Barrow-Wight Slayer of 2020".

What you should not do on Z-Day:
Intentionally attacking other Middle Earth nations with undead hordes ruins other peoples' hard work. So, we ask if you want to embrace and aid the Barrow-Wights, please be considerate of your neighbors and do it from a different region, and then return to Middle Earth after Z-Day is complete.

Thank you for your support, and I look forward to fighting shoulder-to-shoulder with all of you on Z-Day 2020 !

I wonder how all of our residing balrogs and other dark creatures are going to behave during this Z-Day event!

We encourage all nations to participate in the defense of Middle Earth. This is a great time to put aside any historical differences and work as together as a unified whole.

The Middle Earth Roleplay that we started back in June has just finished.

Thank you everyone for participating in the Middle Earth Roleplay, or at least checking it from time to time.

Hope to see more of you in a future iteration of the RP. If there's interest at a later time I might be persuaded to host it again. Or, you know, I am open to you players getting involved in a roleplay of your own! It can also be here on the RMB, I might consider participating in in-lore stuff.

Thank you for taking the time to host the roleplay. It was immensely enjoyable and a great entry into roleplaying for me.

Also, I may never be able to fully enjoy a game of Risk, again, without getting the opportunity to write out lengthy scenes for every move!

Glad you managed to get the game going and to complete it. Sorry Echoriath could not participate (considering letting Echoriath rest and replacing him here - we are both puppets of Red Star of the West).

Hail all nations of Middle Earth,

Our scouts have returned with dire news! The dread necromancer's hoard of Barrow-Wights (Z-Day 2020) is scarcely 3-4 days away! We bid you prepare yourselves, and stand fast at Middle Earth's defenses, shoulder-to-shoulder, so that we might throw down this enemy and see the light of the new day!

Z-Day is a fun day - we see what teamwork can do in the face of an implacable common foe! See the dispatches for what you can do to help Middle Earth on October 31st.

A special reminder: Whatever you do for Z-Day, please be careful to not aid the zombies. If anyone wishes to attack others with the zombie hoards, please do so from within a different region - so that no one has their hard work ruined. In a previous Z-Day, an unfortunate member of our region misunderstood the situation and had to be banished for the duration of the event. Please be informed and do not make this mistake.

Well, I don't know what the Hell is going on.

I see three possibilities:

1) Z-Day 2020 will happen as normal. In which case why risk people tuning out over the weekend because they misunderstood the News item and think its cancelled. So, unfortunately this seems unlikely.

2) Z-Day 2020 will be cancelled and nothing will run in its place. Again, the best thing would be to clearly and unambiguously tell people - months ago. Publishing news releases that are intentionally ambiguous serves no purpose. Its not cute or funny - just disappointing and annoying. Sort of like if your kid gets killed in a car crash, but the doctor makes you play 20-questions to find out their status.

3) Z-Day 2020 will be be rebranded as a different minigame, which will then happen. I'd be totally happy if they changed words like Zombie-->Demon, Infect-->Possession, etc and kept the underlying mechanics the same. The semantics matter not. Or, maybe the mechanics will also be changed - this could be a totally new minigame. Either way, the best thing is to, again, unambiguously tell people whats happening. Cheeky antics of 'there will not be a Z-Day and then surprise there is something else and haha I fooled you' would just risk people tuning out - doing something else with their weekend - and miss the event.

So, really, no one wins when the leadership is ambiguous - regardless of the situation.

I think he's just parodying Trump, it will totally be the usual bloodbath but he's downplaying it so as 'not to cause panic', and I assume he'll continue through with 'it'll go away by itself', 'it's a miracle', etc, etc
