really NS!!....we might want to tweak the AI / RNG that hands out "randomn issues" a bit.

I had a coronavirus issue back in March and a BLM issue in June. I'm convinced that NationStates is spying on everyone.

Welcome to Forest, also! I hope that you enjoy your stay here. :-)

“They conceal themselves in the shrubbery” Lol, in hindsight, I really should’ve expected that from a region named “Forest”.

And thank you for the warm welcome!

Banks have quarters where you live? Wow. We had a shortage here months ago. Admittedly I have not tried recently, so I don't know if it's the same.

Yup. I've seen local businesses with "exact change only" signage even just a couple days ago, but the bank itself has always had quarters. Or at least once every couple of weeks.

Remember how I started a thing where I’d ask a question each week about your nations? Well I was busy last week but I have a new question this week:

When was your nation established, and what political entities/countries previously inhabited the area that you now claim as your own?

Middle Barael is mainly comprised of two regions, plus the island of Garydos and some smaller barrier islands too: Cothon, the big island, and the Mainland (aka Barael or Mainland Barael). These were two separate entities before they unified in 1947.

The Republic of Cothon ruled the island of Cothon from its capital in Cothon City. It was a federal unitary republic, with representative democracy and high political freedoms. It was the more united and important of the two, and it had relations with many other countries, such as Greece, Turkey, the UK, Lebanon, and France, and Italy.

The State of Barael, located on the mainland, was a loose confederation of ethnic communities, namely the Franco-German, Italian, and Venetian, and to a lesser extent the Catalan, Israeli, and Arab communities, who were less included. The de jury capital was Nava (aka Nala), but most government things were conducted in Barael City, later renamed Middle Barael City (abbreviated as MBC) after the unification. This is part of the reason why diplomacy and governance are so important in MBC nowadays, due in part to the legacy of all the pre-unification government offices and buildings in the city.

The Island Protectorate of Garydos was a semi-independent entity, being a protectorate of Cothon, Barael, and the British who all jointly protected and partially administered the island. Garydos only joined Middle Barael in 1954, seven years after the other parts.

Finally, some of the barrier islands surrounding Cothon, such as Leta, were owned by the Republic of Cothon, while other islands were jointly ruled by Cothon and Barael.

In 1947, amid growing foreign influence in Cothon and growing calls for a stronger federal government in Barael, as well as an increased level of trade and partnership between the two countries, Barael and Cothon decided to unite. Barael wished to keep the name Barael, but Cothon didn’t want it to be entirely the same, so they settled on Middle Barael, as they were the “Middle Kingdom” of Forest in their eyes, and they wished to look back at the past and create a new future, meaning they were in the middle of time.
Garydos joined in 1954, and in 1967 a new constitution was written, which greatly unified the two regions even more, and helped to stop corruption in its tracks. Nowadays very few wish to separate the two regions, and while there are separatist or de-unification political parties, they are so small that they seldom make it to the ballot let alone Parliament.

Welcome! Ruinenlust is the new WA delegate (they replaced our previous WA delegate of 13 years a couple months ago), so please endorse him! He’s been doing a great job at delegate, and before that he also did a great job as Foreign Minister (and my superior)!

And I’d be willing to trade endorsements with you. In Middle Barael City, which is our third largest city (but not the capital, mind you), we have an entire district devoted to diplomacy, and every nation that endorsed us receives a plaza or a pavilion there surrounded by buildings celebrating their culture and governance, and we also re-endorse anyone who endorses us. We’d be happy to add a Julunaphra Plaza, as long as you endorse us first

Chan Island doesn't do trading endorsements, but we sure as hell do trades of your ship in exchange for you not getting shot. ^^

My thoughts exactly. And that Ruinenlust isn't even original; he used the first letter as Ransium in his name. It's rathetic.

Ever have an unplanned "get out of civilization" day? Civilization is looking kinda crap recently, I think.

Just wait till a forest fire combo triggers at turn 3 and a meteor strikes at turn eight, right where your capital is. Oh, the horrors of the apocalyptic mode.

Wait.

Wrong Civilization.

Oh, Civ 6?

No, Barael is pronounced /bɑɹael/ or BAR-rah-el

Also what does my nation’s name have to do with some sort of mineral?
