Today's Update: Still losing in North Africa
Also, this is what happened as a result of the Interior Minister's coup:

The Second Sicilian Civil War (LEGACY)

by Sicilian imperial-capitalist empire

The Second Sicilian Civil War was a conflict that took place between Sicilian democratic forces and a variety of enemy factions.

Background
Following the collapse of the Sicilian government in 2017, tensions had begun to build between various political factions in the civil war. The former fascist-technocratic leadership had essentially gone on the run, hiding from the communist and then democratic Sicilian government. This all came to a head on March 30th, 2020, when the Sicilian democratic government announced that they had captured John N. Ender, and were to have him executed. Many in Sicily formed secret leagues on that day, and with the assistance of former technocratic-fascist leadership, secretly united them into the Sicilian Restoration League early on April 1st.

John N. Ender's execution on April 1st led to an immediate call for an uprising against the democratic government. Following an aborted coup done in the afternoon, the Sicilian government collapsed into a fractured patchwork of various ideological territories, all competing for control over Sicily.

First Phase of Fighting: April 1st, 2020-April 13th, 2020
Fighting in Sicily first began with the technocratic-fascist coalition in the north along with communists rising in the south, with democratic forces stuck in the capital and it's adjacent territories. Immediately, several nations within Europe volunteered to support the forces fighting in the civil war. This resulted in escalated fighting, as foreign intervention intensified the already intense civil war. This resulted in several other factions rising up, with some even being backed by foreign nations, so that they too could get a chance at controlling Sicily. The 2 weeks of fighting were suddenly brought to an end on April 13th, with the breaking out of the War of 2020 and resulting pan-European war. This led to a ceasefire that lasted for months, and effectively brought a standstill to the civil war.

First Phase of the Ceasefire: April 13th, 2020-April 27th, 2020
The military temporarily intervened in the civil war, temporarily disarming the regional ideological militias and stabilizing the country so it could fight the War of 2020. This set a precedent for the rest of the civil war, a precedent that had previously not existed: the army would maintain stability in the rest of Sicily while the fighting was done in Sicily proper. This fighting in the War of 2020 would eventually grind to a standstill, and the military's intervention was eventually lifted on April 27th, 2020, with the disarmed factions being forced to rearm and regroup, ultimately contributing to the instability that followed the rest of the civil war.

Second Phase of the Ceasefire: April 27th, 2020-October 8th, 2020
On the day of April 27th, the military withdrew and allowed for some small-scale, organized fighting. This led to anti-war factions rising up in the mountains of Sicily, determined to wear down the other factions and "bring back stability and elect a new government in Sicily." This on and off fighting would continue for the rest of the War of 2020, and in the final week the military began to lose control over the island of Sicily. On April 28th, the following day, the technocratic-fascist coalition government (which was the main faction opposing the democratic government) broke apart as a result of it's major offensives deeper and deeper into Sicily. It's 3 successor factions would go on to change the dynamic of the civil war, essentially causing the civil war's actions to happen on their own terms. On May 1st, 2020, Gutaiai shelled Palermo after mistakenly believing that Sicily was still at war. The result was the overthrow of the military, and thus their opportunity to gain control of Sicily was temporarily snuffed out. Democratic and communist forces were severely weakened during the summer of 2020, and as a result, the other factions began to gain steam in the civil war. In late July and early August 2020, there was a brief attempt by the army to seize control of Sicily and permanently bring an end to the then ongoing political chaos, but their plans were thwarted and the army was stopped from gaining power. Eventually anarchists rose up in September of 2020, and by October Sicily had become so destabilized that the military had to finally leave, ending the ceasefire and beginning the brief but bloodiest part of the civil war.

Second Phase of Fighting and End of the Civil War: October 8th, 2020-November 2nd, 2020
On October 8th, 2020, the military withdrew from Sicily for the final time, unleashing the pent up rage of every faction in the civil war. For the first 4 days, there were unrestrained war crimes and atrocities committed across the board by all sides. The beginning of these 4 days was called Black Thursday by towns who were victims of this 4 day rampage. After the initial period of fighting ended, the island entered into a state of high-intensity warfare from October 12th to the end of the civil war on November 2nd. During this time, fascist-technocratic forces began to make serious gains against the other forces on the island, destroying every army they encountered, and taking no prisoners. Eventually, on October 26th, just a week before the fighting ended, John N. Ender revealed to the world that he had not actually been killed, and that the democratic government had gotten the wrong guy. Sicily was now plunged into absolute chaos, and the final week saw numerous atrocities committed by the technocratic-fascist government, atrocities that didn't go unnoticed by the international community. On that same day, the WA delivered an ultimatum to Sicily to arrest Ender, which Sicily denied, resulting in their intervention the Mediterranean Wars. This intervention turned out to be one of the WA's biggest mistakes, as the army, filled with seasoned veterans from years of fighting, obliterated WA forces in North Africa, Arabia, and Anatolia. Sicily had also used diplomacy to convince other European nations not to get involved. Therefore, the international community could do little but charge John in absentia of numerous war crimes in Sicily. Finally, on November 2nd, the last dissident forces outside of Palermo were cleared, and John N. Ender declared the restoration of Sicily's old fascist-technocratic dictatorship, ending the civil war.

Subsequent Events and Impact of Sicily's Civil War
Throughout the next few weeks, Sicilian paramilitaries loyal to Ender would assist the secret police in rounding up suspected and actual dissidents within Sicily and having them executed via firing squad. Sicilian forces would also arrest dissidents outside of Sicily proper, and commit extrajudicial killings as a middle finger to the international community. The result was that, for the first time since 1983, when Sicily temporarily became a communist regime, Sicily was declared a "rogue state" by the WA, and its members were urged to cut trade with Sicily. Sicily also defeated the international community in the aforementioned intervention in the Mediterranean Wars, resulting in Sicily regaining it's Middle Eastern territories for the first time since 1999. Other than that, however, life managed to return to normal in Sicily after the few weeks of purges, and stability returned to Sicily for the first time in 3 years. Another result was the declaration of war by Engales and southern ireland for trade ports within Sicily, which began the First Anglo-Sicilian War, splitting the monarchist faction and ultimately leading to their downfall. The war ended with a white peace on November 29th, 2020, and Sicily regained most of their strength with the last of their multiple devastating wars now having concluded.

Sicily promulgated the Palermo Doctrine on December 21st, 2020, partially as a result of the civil war. The doctrine's purpose was to destabilize foreign powers attempting to influence Sicily, expand Sicily's influence by setting up friendly regimes, and to help ease any potential conquests. The result was that Sicily shifted from an expansionist power to an interventionist one, something which was seen as absurd before the civil war. As a result, Sicily continually found itself at war with numerous powers, beginning a new era of warfare in Sicily, and bringing to a halt a month of development.

I mean, Green voters will often strategically vote for Labour in an electorate. And the Greens have a confidence and supply agreement with Labour, the two often go hand in hand. "A vote for the Greens is a vote for a Labour-Green coalition." But, I'm surprised they have exactly the same level of support from you, normally people lean one way or another

Yahlia what are your opinions on the Laser Kiwi flag? I just ordered a 150x90 one and yeah it's from China so it's gonna take 4 months to get here and owo I'm excited

It makes it easier if you are a Green voter to support Green if you live in a country with some system of proportional representation. Otherwise in countries like the UK and Canada, those voters often vote tactically.
