And speaking of activity, there’s a whole lot of nations in the region that I’ve never seen post! I’m looking for active nations to be members of the Ministry of Culture, cause there can’t really be a one-person Ministry.

On another note, the first festival I was thinking of was a Ravana’s Got Culture writing contest, movie and literature trivia contest, and more yet to come

Ravana Plays NS Issue #6

The Debate

In response to changing fashion trends amongst the youth of Ravana Plays NS, new recruits to the military have petitioned the government to update the army’s dress code accordingly.

The Debate

Issue Option 1: “Permission to speak, sir?” asks Private Third Class Iris Carter, saluting you. “Many of us are tired of looking the same, and would like the freedom to express ourselves through our appearance, sir. I mean, sir, it doesn’t hurt to let us dye our hair once in a while, does it?”

Issue Option 2: “This is ridiculous!” roars Colonel Severus Howell, shaking his fist at you. “If I tell a soldier to put on pantaloons and a tunic, there’s a good reason for it - and I expect to be obeyed without question. And who are these soldiers demanding change anyways? I’d like to see them court-martialed!”

Issue Option 3: “You know,” murmurs romantic novelist Sophie Peters, dreamily staring out the window. “A change of uniform might not be too bad. What if we made all our soldiers wear medieval suits of armour? It would sure highlight the chivalry and honour of Ravana Plays NS’s armed forces.”

Issue Option 4: “Actually, battle armour is a great idea!” exclaims Bajrakitiyabha Wayne, representative from Better Future Inc, dumping a bundle of papers on your desk. “Here’s our blueprints for the latest battlesuits that we’ve come up with. Sure it will be costly, but it will make our soldiers invincible!”

Issue Option 5: “The solution is not through technology, but through religion,” declares zealot Michonne Day as she waves a censer under your nose. “Why not make all soldiers fight in the name of a major religion, and give them priestly robes while they’re at it?”

Issue Option 6: “Why make them wear anything?” asks nudist Lara Laine, standing to attention in your office. “Without clothes to impede them, your soldiers can move faster in battle - and we don’t have to waste any more money on uniforms. Besides, all you need is a gun to kill someone, right?”

Welcome! I hope you saw my welcome telegram upon arrival, it has some helpful tips! Here's some more information for you and our other new nations: Xeltek, Lost mcdonalds guy, Smallis brainess, and Russ kovir.

In nation-states, regions often have their own governments composed of citizens and government officials. Here in Ravana we have a Parliamentary-monarchy. This means that each month all registered citizens (you can become registered by following the instructions in your welcome telegram or by messaging me) get to vote for their preferred candidates for Parliament. Any citizen is able to run as well! Our Parliament passes laws that effect the whole region such as declerations of wars, regional holidays, and community events. I'm excited to welcome you to Ravana!

I know that nationstates can seem overwhelming at first, but if you have any questions be sure to ask here :)

There is a fine line between national security for the good of the region and a witch hunt, and this is beginning to toe that line. It's not to the extreme in the video yet, but it's the same idea.

Should parliament be setting it's own rules now? I feel like we have been bumping around in the dark..
