Pemecutan delegation has arrived at Daulapura International Airport for AMAN Leaders meeting which is initiate by Eraman Bendahara. Their arrival is ahead of the said schedule but it is something that has been plan by the Patih Agung. He never have the time to visit Eraman before after their change from Tun Segalang Petara. So it is a great opportunity to reconnect the relationship of both nations. He is also wants to talk further about his statement about the region's name changing. Kusumajaya is quite surprise with the statement and the effect it has.

The delegation is escorted to their hotel room. It is a luxury room. Kusumajaya smile lightly as how the Eraman government treat their guests. It is amusing. Kusumajaya decide to take some rest. The flight have taken his energy. But he is distracted with his cellphone. He check on the message and find one from Partayasa. 'He is on the trip to Toluiwa,' he thought. Kusumajaya put his cellphone on the side table of the bedroom. He rested his body on the soft and tender bed as his mind swirling around about his plan. His vision for a better future. 'It is possible, right?' he murmured. The soft bed really give a quick effect on him. Less than 5 minutes and he is already asleep. He is forgetting about everything that he is thinking before and let his body to rest.

Last-minute preparations are in full swing in Daulapura in conjunction with the AMAN Leaders Meeting which will take place soon. A new gate with the large inscription “Welcome AMAN Delegates” was built at the entrance to Daulapura. Potholed roads were re-paved. Lampposts along the road are decorated with the flags of the Melayu Archipelago countries. The police and security are also prepared to ensure that the meeting will be held smoothly without any untoward incidents. Eraman's intelligence found no threats to worry about but the police's thorough preparations were still carried out as a precautionary measure.

The delegates will arrive at Anara International Airport, located 35km from Daulapura. The Department of Foreign Affairs of the People's Democratic Republic of Pulang is pleased to announce that it will be attending the AMAN Leaders Meeting to be held in the Kingdom of Eraman. Continuing dialogue with our closest neighbours is vital to ensure the safety and security of every member of the Melayu Archipelago, and we believe that attending dialogues like this is the best way to achieve this intra-regional co-operation.

The People's Democratic Republic will be represented in Daulapura by the Head of the Department of Foreign Affairs, Balinder Singh. He, as one of the nine members of the State Council of the People's Democratic Republic, the collective Head of State and Head of Government of the nation, will be afforded full decision-making powers on behalf of the rest of the State Council.

The People's Democratic Republic looks forward to the fruitful discussion to be held in Daulapura and hopes that such efforts continue in the future to maintain a sense of cordiality and harmony between the nations of the region.

President Paulus Etamba and the Sendhang delegations were the second delegations to arrive in Daulapura after the Pemecutan delegation led by the Patih Agung himself, Ngurah Agung Kusumajaya. The Sendhang delegation arrived in Daulapura a day before the ASEAN Leaders Meeting kick off with its gala dinner.

Just like the Pemecutan delegation, the Sendhang delegations did not go straight to the Daulapura Palace which was supposed to be their official residence for the duration of the meeting. Instead, just like the Pemecutan delegation, they checked into the 7-stars Petara Daulapura Resort.

The president was received by the Bendahara of Eraman, Tun Rendra Usin at the Petara Daulapura Resort where they had lunch before they were joined by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Budi Hartono, and Temenggung of Eraman, Isam Usin for a golf session at the same place. This is the second time the two met in a short space of time after the visit of Tun Rendra Usin to Kambang, the capital city of Sendhang a few months ago where they shocked the whole region by announcing their agreement to change the name of the region.

Meanwhile, back at home, the arrest of the national team and KS Tapaklaboh midfielder Teuku Hassan Al-Qari spark outrage in Tapaklaboh, the state capital of Putrasia. There was a small-scale protest in the city as the Putrasians made it known that they support Teuku Hassan Al-Qari and opposed the name change. There will be no Putrasian representative at the AMAN Leaders Meeting.

Eraman

As the wheels of the Samuderan airline touched the runway of the international airport, the Samuderan delegation would be the next group to arrive in the country. Once it found a perfect spot, the plane that has just finished its Palembang-Anara route then stopped its movement, and moments later, the throng of passengers - still less than the usual amount, a noticeable phenomenon that remained after the terror attack in Cakranegara - joined the flurry of activities in the airport. Among these new arrivals from Samudera, are the Samuderan officials that would represent the Crowned Federation in the summit. These officials - two men and a woman - are expected by the staffs from the embassy and the group tasked by the host country to escort the delegation. A few polite greetings and amicable short conversations later, the Samuderan delegation is then escorted to their temporary accommodation at Petara Daulapura Resort - as they arrived ahead of the schedule.

The Mangkubumi and his companions chatted in their car as they looked upon the scenery throughout their journey. Eraman is a beautiful country, but they are also quite ambitious and....somewhat unpredictable. At least, that's what is generally thought of by politicians of their aloof neighbour to the west. Some are exasperated by it, while the others are much more welcoming.

"It seems that several delegations have already arrived before us." The only woman in the group who would be the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Intan Widyatama, spoke. She glanced at her phone at the information that she received. "The Patih Agung of Pemecutan, President Etamba from Sendhang....it seems to be a good time for us to check in with our counterparts, if the occasion would be generous."

"I suppose." The Mangkubumi spoke, smiling slightly. He is quite content to take this trip and let his deputy to take charge of the ever-nosy Majelis. Well, from the notification that he received, it seems that the Samuderan parliament is still busy with the whole nuclear reactor decommissioning fiasco. Not much change from the last session, it seems.

He is also quite content that at least, this proposed change in the regional organization seems to be handled pretty well by his counterpart.

"Well, we have arrived at the resort." The man that sit at the other side of the car quietly murmured a few moments later. The Minister of Trade and Industry, Safiq Rahman, looked on at the place in awe. "Saying that 'they are quite prepared' seems to be.....fit. This place is beautiful."

The Mangkubumi and the Minister of Foreign Affairs smiled and nodded in agreement.

"Off we go. It's time to leave our things at our rooms and then looking around to say hello to ther other delegations, or, if you gentleman and lady prefer it more, taking a rest at our rooms."

It was a grand night in the Daulapura Palace, a historic moment as leaders of the Melayu Archipelago gathered for a gala dinner on the eve of the AMAN Leaders Meeting.

Leaders of the Melayu Archipelago and their delegations arrived at the Daulapura Palace, the official residence for the delegations for the meeting since the afternoon. The delegations were then checked into one of the 2000 rooms in the underground of the palace. They were then free to use all the amenities on the 15 underground floor of the palace which includes spas, bars, and swimming pools for the evening.

The delegates then made their way up to the ground floor from their rooms starting from 7:30 pm where they were ushered into a special lobby for VVIP guests. They head to the banquet hall at around 7:50 pm before the dinner begins 10 minutes later. Not long after that, there was the sound of a cannon banging 3 times marking the start of the AMAN Leaders Meeting.

The dinner, hosted by the Maharaja of Eraman himself, Maharaja Nila Petara was in a joyous mood as the guests were served with nasi kuning, chicken rendang, stewed lamb shank, butter prawn, chili soft-shell crab, yam ring, and coconut tapioca soup accompanied by slow keroncong music.

_______________

On the next day, the delegations made their way to the Daulapura International Convention Center, located just next to the palace as early as 7 in the morning. Breakfast such as nasi lemak and chicken curry puff as well as coffee and tea were served at the venue of the meeting.

The Bendahara of Eraman, Tun Rendra Usin accompanied by his cousin and the Temenggong of Eraman, Isam Usim, and their delegations arrived at 7:35 in the morning. They were greeted by traditional zapin dancers from the Department of Culture at the entrance before making their way into the room where breakfast was served. They spent about an hour in the room, then headed towards the Grand Ballroom where the AMAN Leaders Meeting was held.

As the host, Tun Rendra Usin was the first speaker of the day.

"Your Excellencies the Heads of State and Government of the Melayu Archipelago nations," he started his speech with a short salutation.

The room was quiet and all focus was on Tun Rendra Usin.

"In this AMAN Leaders Meeting, I would like to reaffirm the Eramanian government's commitment to advancing AMAN cooperation. For Eraman, AMAN is a platform for building cooperation that is beneficial for our people, for development in our countries, for peace and stability in our region," he continued.

He stopped for a while to have a sip of water that was placed at the table in front of him.

"So on this occasion, in front of the leaders in the region, I am proposing 3 things," he said

They were a few murmurs in the room as the delegates look at each other. They were only expecting a proposal to change the name of the region. What are the other two?

"Firstly," he continued. "I am proposing that AMAN as a bloc condemn the bombing of the Pemecutanan Gili Anakan Military Base in Cakranegara. The attack is a serious threat to peace and security and has no place in the region," he said.

A thunderous clap erupts as Tun Rendra Usin said that.

"Secondly, I am proposing to change the name of the region," he continues. "Meilawati has been part of the region's history and will continue to be an integral part of the region. The great empire exported their language to become the lingua franca of most of the region. They exported their rich culture and functioned as the trading hub in the past. However, there is a need for a more neutral and inclusive name that is not tied to the ancient empire to make everyone in the region feel welcomed," he said.

He then again stopped a second and reached the glass of water in from of him, glanced at everyone in the room, and took a deep breath before continuing.

"And finally, I am proposing for a Putrasian independence referendum," he said.

The room was suddenly dead quiet. The delegations were shocked. The situation in Putrasia was not even that bad. They were not expecting this one.

"The fate of the Putrasians shall be determined by the Putrasians," he continued.

That was how the Bendahara of Eraman, Tun Rendra Usin finished his opening speech at the AMAN Leaders Meeting.

The situation in the meeting room of Daulapura International Convention Center where the leaders of the region gathers becomes intense. This happen after Eraman Bendahara, Tun Rendra Usin speech which is also officially open the meeting. Putrasia Referendum? No one ever think about that in the first place. Kusumajaya feels that it is his time to break the ice.

'Good morning, esteem leaders. First of all, I'm thanking Mr. Tun Rendra Usin for his idea to bring us all here for this excellent meeting. It is a rare ocassion for all of us. Secondly, I'm also thanking Mr. Tun Rendra Usin and Eraman as a whole for their concern about the incident in Gili Anakan. We, the government of Pemecutan and Cakranegara are in cooperation to catch the perpetrators. We already got the names but their location is very vague because they are moving a lot,' Kusumajaya pause for a few seconds. A murmured come across the meeting room at the last sentence of Kusumajaya's speech.

'Rest assure, their location is still inside Cakranegara. So you don't need to worry about their possibility to occur in your respective country,' explain Kusumajaya.
The leaders are in relieve after the explanation.

'Thirdly, although I understand and I find it reasonable with that base reason to exchange the name of the region. Although I'm still confuse on how we will do it. Fourth and lastly, I obviously rejected the idea to hold the referendum in Putrasia. I do understand that it is their rights but it is Sendhangite domestic issue and we as foreign entities have no rights to interfere them that far. I hope this is something to be reconsider,' closed Kusumajaya.

The atmosphere of the meeting room become heaten after Kusumajaya speech. While President Makarin who is sitting next to Kusumajaya is seen to whisper to him. No one's know what are they talking about.

A number of leaders from the Melayu Archipelago countries attended the gala dinner in conjunction with the AMAN Leaders Meeting at Daulapura Palace, including the President of Sendang Paulus Etamba.

President Paulus Etamba and his delegations attended the invitation at noon and were first taken to the rooms provided at the underground level of the palace by the Maharaja of Eraman, Maharaja Nila Petara. However, the president did not choose to rest in his room. The president looked restless all evening and instead, spent most of his time sitting alone in the cigar lounge in the underground level of the magnificent palace.

At around 7.30 pm, the President arrived at the ground floor of the Daulapura Palace in a black suit. He then went straight to the waiting room that had been provided. In that room was the Bendahara of Eraman, Tun Rendra Usin. President Paulus Etamba and Tun Rendra Usin seemed to have a friendly conversation. The two of them did meet several times, Tun Rendra Usin even invited the President to take a tour of Eraman after the AMAN Leaders Meeting.

Exactly at 8.00 pm, the gala dinner began. The president sat next to Tun Rendra Usin at the banquet. The dinner finished about two hours later. After that, the president and his delegations went straight to the basement level of the palace to rest.

________________

The AMAN Leaders Meeting started with a bang. Tun Rendra Usin wasted no time to get everyone's attention, especially his proposal on the Putrasia independence referendum. It caught everyone off-guard except for President Paulus Etamba. Everyone in the room was looking at him when the Bendahara of Eraman made that proposal but the president remained composed, nervous but still composed. He had discussed this with Tun Rendra Usin during their golf session 2 days ago and they had expected that reaction from the delegations.

Of course, the proposal was objected to right away. The Patih Agung of Pemecutan, Ngurah Agung Kusumajaya who spoke next made it clear in his speech that the Association of Melayu Archipelago Nations has no right to interfere in Sendhang domestic issue. His speech made the meeting more intense.

Then came the president's turn to make his speech. He started his speech with condemnation of the terrorist attack in Cakranegara and praised the effort of Pemecutan and Cakranegara in dealing with it. He then went on to agree with the proposal to change the name of the region citing that the nations in the region should collectively choose the name.

Then the moment the room has been waiting for, on Putrasia.

"I welcome Eraman's concern on the situation in Sendhang. However, Pemecutan is right that this should be dealt with internally by the government of Sendhang. We cannot agree to this. Therefore, Sendhang respectfully objects to the third proposal by Eraman," he said.

The situation got awkward in the meeting room as the president ended his speech with an objection to the third proposal of Tun Rendra Usin who sat next to him.

Samudera darussalam

Mangkubumi Muhammad looked on in surprise at his colleague's......rather bold proposal. It's the first thing that he doesn't expect to happen in this meeting.

'Putrasian independence?!'

It's not a secret for anyone in the region who is quite updated about regional news that indeed, there have been tensions between the supporters of Putrasian independence and the government of Sendhang. Hell, that outburst at the football match makes rather intense news even in Samudera.

Remembering that one event, he grimaced a little and glanced in sympathy at his colleague, who no doubt must be feeling rather....sidetracked for now, being put on that side by the leader of the one nation with whom Sendhang have a rather close relationship. However, judging by that fact alone, he doubt that even the sometimes unpredictable Tun Resin, the Bendahara of Eraman, would do something underhanded to his "ally".

The man decided that it's best to observe for now.

The curly haired man sighed and stayed quiet, listening to the objections from first the Patih Agung of Pemecutan, who makes rather good points, and then from the President of Sendhang himself, who.....well, obviously objected the proposal. Hmm. Maybe he makes the wrong observation?

"If I may," the Mangkubumi then spoke, breaking the intense silence the room has been subjected into. "I'm going to apologize to my fellow delegations here that I will.....abandon the pleasantries for now, given the metaphorical bomb that has been dropped in this room."
He sighed.
"On behalf of the Samuderan nation, I wish to express my appreciation to the points expressed by my fellow leader, the Bendahara of Eraman. Indeed, the terror attack in Cakranegara is despicable and I want to deliver my sympathies to my other colleague, the Patih Agung of Pemecutan." Muhammad nodded at him.
"On the subject, Samudera agrees on the motion for a bloc-wide condemnation."

"Moving to the next point, I'd concede that again, my Eramanian colleague makes perfect points. Meilawati, the empire that originated from our small peninsula, was a grand nation that no doubt have a big impact on the development of our region. Regardless, due to the fact that the region consists of many cultures and differences, it would be good that should the name 'Melayu Archipelago' is not inclusive of all, then a new name that would represent us all is welcome. I'm saying that as my own personal view. However, should there be a vote, Samudera would be abstaining, as we feel that this declaration is a bit sudden."

He paused, to let his statements sink in.
"On the last subject, it's no doubt that democracy is something that many hold dear, including in our own Crowned Federation, where it's seen as something fundamental for the nation. However." He closed his eyes fo a while before opening them again.
"I have to agree with my colleague, Mr. Kusumajaya, that any subject related to 'Putrasian independence' is the internal business of the Sendhangite government, and it would be wiser for us to not get involved. As a result, with respect to every side who are invested, I as the representative of Samudera, who see non-interference as our fundamental policy, objected to the motion. Thank you."

The mangkubumi, having finished his speech, then went back on studying his notes and silently observing the other delegations.

Leaders of the Melayu Archipelago nations discussed for three hours in the Daulapura Convention Center before a vote was called on the three proposals made by the Bendahara of Eraman, Tun Rendra Usin. The results were then made known just a short while after the last nation cast their vote.

"On the first proposal, the Associations of Melayu Archipelago Nations unanimously agreed to condemn the terror attack in Cakranegara,"

The announcement by Tun Rendra Usin was received with a thunderous clap by the delegation.

"On the second proposal, the Association of Melayu Archipelago Nations, albeit with a few abstain vote, agreed with a strong majority to change the name of the region,"

The clap after the second announcement was somewhat smaller than the first.

"On the third proposal, the Association of Melayu Archipelago Nations unanimously rejects any interference on Sendhang's domestic policy,"

A thunderous clap, similar to the first was heard again in the room after the third announcement.

A thunderous clap, similar to the first was heard again in the room after the third announcement. The third announcement marked the end of the morning session of the AMAN Leaders Meeting. The delegations then went to the next room where lunch is served.

The night has coming to Daulapura. The meeting will be continue tomorrow after the announcement made by Eraman Bendahara. It is a good result so far. Patih Agung Kusumajaya try to get some rest although it won't be much time for him as he will meet President Makarin later on. He has been in a fuse from the day before. He is eager to do a private meeting for them two. Something so important must be on his hand. But what?

Kusumajaya arrived in the hotel where the meeting will be held. Makarin seems to avoid to use the palace but they are lucky to get the place to meet privately. After Kusumajaya ask to the receptionist, he is escorted to the said room. Located in the fifth floor, it's not a big meeting room. In fact, it looks more like a study room but still with a complete setting for a small meeting up to 4 people. Makarin is already waiting for him there. They are greets each other casually like a long lost friend.

'So tell me, what is this that you want to talk to me so eagerly from yesterday?' ask Kusumajaya as he body touch the chair.
'Hahaha. You're getting very curious,' say Makarin with a fresh laugh.
'Well, you have Ben bugging me from the dinner the other night to meet in private,' remind Kusumajaya.
Makarin still have his laugh before he try to composure himself. 'Of course it is country related. Trade to be precise,' he say cautiously.
'Another trade agreement?' Kusumajaya ask.
Makarin exhale deeply as if he is afraid to say what he wants. 'Honestly, I would like you to invest in my country's energy industry. Build a refinery so we can produce our petrol at home,' explain Makarin.

Kusumajaya lean back. It is true that Pemecutan have provide Acastanha their petrol. But changing that trade to crude oil trade will decrease the income.

'I understand that it is economically impossible because you will be the one who gets the disadvantage here. What I'm thinking is you establish the refinery in our country and sell directly the finished product without the bother of shipping cost. The refinery will be still yours,' explain Makarin.

Kusumajaya get interested. But.... 'What's the catch?'
'Build the refinery somewhere in Arra. Maybe Sagamarayn or Radchai. And let my people works there,' Makarin propose.
Kusumajaya think for a few seconds. He is agree about letting Acastanhada people to work in the plan refinery. It will be in their soil after all. But build it in Sagamarayn or Radchai?

'Why not build it in Porto Espinhosa instead?' ask Kusumajaya.
'Decentralize,' Makarin answer. 'As of now many industry have been flocking the Palidas region. I want to build up Arra region which is still rely on raw material production and trade,' he added.
'Hhmm. I get your point. But Sagamarayn and Radchai is not feasible,' reveal Kusumajaya.
Makarin look at him in a questionable face. 'Both cities are not facing an open sea. That is their limitation. In a case of oil spill, the worst scenario, the area will be contaminated easily,' explain Kusumajaya.
'Isn't it better that way? It is easier to contain the oil spill in an enclosed area. Besides the cities are closer to Pemecutan than any other city in Acastanha,' Makarin argue.
Kusumajaya sigh heavily.

'You know what? Let's stop the meeting here,' say Kusumajaya. Something which shock Makarin. 'We conduct another meeting with more reliable people who is more understand about this issue. Maybe I can get MG Oil president too so we can talk about this thoroughly,' he added.
'Ah yes. That would be a great idea,' say Makarin in a relieve. A split second before, he thought Kusumajaya reject his proposal.
'In fact, I invites some of the leaders from Cendana Islands for some meeting. You can join up if you want,' invite Kusumajaya.
'Oh really? But what's the meeting is about?' ask Makarin curiously.
'Trade and the region's stability,' answer Kusumajaya casually.
'That would be great,' say Makarin in a happy tone.
'Great. I'll inform you the time later on,' say Kusumajaya. He give a silent smile for his success to invite Makarin to the meeting.

President Paulus Etamba was relieved after the result of the vote on the 3 proposals during the AMAN Leaders' Meeting was announced. It was exactly what the president wanted. He was a lot happier when he checked his mobile phone after the meeting as he received hundreds of congratulatory messages.

Back home in Sendhang where the proceeding of the AMAN Leaders' Meeting was aired live by several media outlets and followed by the people across the nation, the reaction was instant. Again, the reaction was mixed but it went exactly like how the president planned.

"We cannot agree to this," said the president during the meeting in a viral short video clip on social media.

The majority of Sendhangite were happy to see their president's firmness in rejecting the Bendahara of Eraman's proposal on an independence referendum for Putrasia during the meeting. The popularity of the president went up to the roof.

It was however a different story in Putrasia. A different clip was widely shared there, a clip of Tun Rendra Usin's speech during the meeting.

"The fate of the Putrasians shall be determined by the Putrasians," said the Bendahara of Eraman in the clip.

The Putrasians agreed with the Bendahara of Eraman. Suddenly, the guy that they hated so much not so long ago for proposing to change the name of the region became their hero in an instant. The call for a referendum in the poorest state in Sendhang grew stronger after that speech by Tun Rendra Usin.

"That went well," said Tun Rendra Usin, the Bendahara of Eraman.

It was the evening after the AMAN Leaders' Meeting. He was accompanied by President Paulus Etamba, the President of Sendhang in a cigar room at the underground level of the Daulapura Palace. Two glasses and a whiskey bottle were on the table in front of them. Both men had an imported cigar between their fingers. There was no one else in the room except the two.

"Yes, that was a huge relieved," replied President Paulus Etamba.

President Paulus Etamba was of course very happy with the outcome of the meeting. He got what he needed from the meeting. He managed to raise nationalism in his country. And most importantly, get the support of 3 of the 4 Sendhangite states, which should be enough to get him re-elected as the president again for another term. The problem in Putrasia can be settled on another day.

"A good start. But we still have a lot to do. This is just the beginning, just a small piece in the grand plan," said Tun Rendra Usin.

Yes, while the other delegations thought that they were at the end of the meeting, for Tun Rendra Usin and President Paulus Etamba, the meeting was only the beginning of a more elaborate plan. The two leaders who led their respective countries' nationalist parties are keen to play more geopolitics. The fact that Pemecutan's geopolitical influence in the region is growing does not sit well with them.

"One at a time. We finish the meeting tomorrow. Then we get an update from Acastanha," replied President Paulus Etamba.

And on the next day, they did just that. The meeting went well without drama or any further shocking announcements. The three hours meeting was all about choosing a new name for the region. Three names, Mandalanusa which means the circle of islands, Madyanusa which means the middle island, and Mahameru which means the great mountain were nominated by the delegations during the meeting. And in the end, after a vote, a new name was successfully chosen to be the new name for the region which is Mandalanusa.

Sorry if this is a stupid question...

With the region renaming, are we actually moving region? Or staying here but it's called something else?

It's not a stupid question. And yes, we're planning to move to a new region. Please wait for further announcement.
