So every school year the Sorting Hat writes and performs a new song for the Welcoming Feast. I think we can have a friendly little contest to see who can write the best one for this year's students.
I came here to drink polyjuice potion and turn smart mouthed students into ferrets--- and I'm all out of polyjuice potion.

Just as an important announcement. Sorting can now take place. For the time being we will allow all registered students to choose their House (it's a known secret that the hat does let you have a say). I can't promise that we will always allow sorting to be entirely up to the student, so take advantage while you can and put that hat on:

As a side note, we would still like to have an official (semi-original) sorting hat song to display as Benevolent Aurors suggested a few days ago and if any person completes one we may adopt it and you will not go unrewarded (House Cup points, hint hint).

Hogwarts House: Hufflepuff
Sterling is a half-blooded wizard who grew up in the countryside with his muggle mother and wizard father. At a young age, Sterling’s grandfather gifted him a copy of famed magizoologist Newt Scamander’s seminal work, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. The book captured his imagination and from that point on he knew he wanted to be just like Newt Scamander. As such, Sterling has trouble sitting still and he’s very fond of the outdoors, especially at night. His stargazing hobby has led him to take an interest in astrology and divination as well, even if his relatives and friends dismiss his superstitious beliefs as silly. If his friends and classmates had to give him a superlative it’d be “Most likely to try to become an animagus”.
Calling it now. Hufflepuff will take home the 1st House Cup.
Slytherin House will win the Quidditch Cup and the House Cup for we are the superior wizards.
