I began playing this game in 2011 with alternate nations, but it’s amazing to think many nations were already playing for years before I started.

Say, how did you guys get started in this nationstates?

I got my start on NationStates by exploring political simulators. At the time I was heavily interested in politics and had a lot of different ideas about things I would do if I was an elected leader. I explored a few different ones, but a lot of them were pretty limited. In a sense, NationStates is limited with functions, but the forum offers a lot as well as factbooks that you can post about your nation. Those are the things which kept me interested, as well as interactions here within the region. What my nation was then and what it is now are very different, but that's progress I suppose.

Interesting. Thanks for the input!

I got my start via “Stumbleupon”, which was a random website search add-on. It was a super cool tool, and I was able to discover a ton of random and eclectic websites using it. The internet has changed a lot since then, and Stumbleupon no longer exists.

Say, is anyone from “The Original Five” still active? It would be cool to hear their perspective on how things have evolved in this game.

Bonjour à tous,

I recently resurrected my nation, trying to bring a new player to the game... but the potential new player stopped playing after only two logins :(
Since I still want to play for a while, I came back to the best region I know in NationStates. (my third time here, iirc)

I don’t intend to interact much, but I thought it would be polite at least to say hi.

Also, I really feel bad for disappearing without notice while I was discussing some programming matters with the Founding Nation of Assorro. (I just re-read some telegrams we exchanged 4 years ago!).
I hope he forgot, or that he will forgive me.

Oh Absolution! My favorite “little place of forgetting”.
Please accept me again, ‘till the next time I disappear...

Welcome to Absolution for however long you are able to stay. Please feel free to hang around as long as you like, and you are more than welcome to interact as much (or as little) as you like. Should you choose to interact, I am certain that you will get some interaction from others here. All the same, welcome the the little place of forgetting.

Upon a bit of research, I see that the only member of “The Original Five” who has not CTE’d is Arming Republics; although they have not written an rmb post in over four years….

Anyways, do you folks have a recommendation for an equally old region to visit?

I think I found the game based on a post from Jayisgames. I stayed because it was a lot of fun and the issues made me laugh. As for old regions... I can't really think of any right now.

Welcome back! I remember you! I hope you've been well?

Thank you everyone for the hospitality. I will continue my quest to meet the inhabitants of the oldest regions in the game.

Bon voyage!

A little late to the party but it was somewhere on the Democracy 3 forums where I stumbled across this website

Always nice to take a trip down memory lane. I came here from another political webgame after I lost because I couldn't figure out how it worked. I liked the issues and RPing on the forums. I was a kid back then, lucky I didn't reveal I was younger than 13 or I wouldn't be here today lol.

It's cool to see some old timers here, welcome back!

I was just looking for a region after my old one got inactive and found this place somehow, I thought it looked cool and I joined.

Are... are d-bags actual things? It occurs to me that I've never actually seen one. Hmm...

Hey all,
Apologies for the lack of activity. I took a week off to see family (we're vaxxed) and have been having some minor issues since I got back home. I didn't mean to be away quite this long, but it is what it is. I'm alright, but I will be going to a clinic to make sure that everything is good.

I hope this is nothing serious and that everything turns out for the best.
Welcome back.

So, I've been given a reminder that stress from travel plus sitting in a seat on a plane for hours on end and doing it again within a matter of just days can take it's toll on your body. As I spoke to the doctor, she conveyed that what I was experiencing was my body reacting to that and drinking plenty of water and ensuring I get enough fiber and other things like that I should be fine in a few days. I feel better knowing that it is something like that and not something severe. Thanks all. Still around and still kicking.

That’s great! Glad to see you’re well and that there is nothing serious going on. I’ve been on my share of long plane trips but I’ve never had any symptoms other than jet lag.

I think it was mostly stress. I am a very prompt kind of person, I'll usually show up somewhere well in advance of the time I'm supposed to be there. The rest of the world? It's a mixed bag. I was around family, and most of them tend to just go with the flow which is fine but a lot of times wherever they go they show up late. Take that and pair it with having to make a flight and all that? Yeah, I become a bright ray of sunshine XD.

Mechisla

I'm glad you're okay though I'm pretty guilty for being a go with the flow kind of person myself

Hey all, sorry for the lack of presence. Work has been...well, it's not getting any easier. We're losing people here and there, and we're getting ready to start ramping up for the holidays. I've honestly lost track of the days, and for a couple days I hadn't stopped by here. Still around, just...well, yay for the holidays! lol

I hope that everybody is doing well and staying healthy.

So far so good here in Hillop. You stay safe out there Sheika

Hey guys, been a while since we’ve talked but I’ve got some great news, not too long ago I entered my first romantic relationship. I’m now dating my friend I’ve known for two years. There’ve been a few late nights on call with her while she’s having a panic attack but aside from those I’m really enjoying it. I hope all of you are also doing well!

Ah, thank you for the wonderful update! Glad to hear that things are going well, and I will certainly hope they not only continue to do well but advance for the better for both of you.

Hey guys, not really a whole lot of chatting going on on the board so I just wanted to check in on y’all. How’s everyone doing? What’s new and exciting in life? What’s got you down? Just checking in on my buddies over here in Absolution, best Region in NS hands down.

This year is a trap. The woman who raised me from sixth grade on and was essentially my Mother died thirty minutes before my birthday so I'm here planning a memorial and trying to pack her things up without losing my mind. Not a good time.

I do hope everyone else is fairing better.

My sincere condolences, Atlantigria.
Even without knowing you personally, I am sad to know that you are suffering through this ordeal and I wish I knew the right words to comfort you.

Hey, it's good to hear from you. I always look forward to hearing how people are doing. It's been a tough year; some points worse than others, but little spots of hope here and there.

This year has certainly been rough. Of all the years that I've lived (I'm not really all that old, but somedays...) this one has probably been the worst by far, and that's comparing it to a deployment to Iraq way back near the start of that whole kerfuffle, the year where my wife's health put her in a sort of limbo where she was literally away from home for nearly six months, a year or two that I cannot remember due to severe self medicating, and last year. I'd be lying if I said that this year hadn't beaten me to my knees and tried to keep me there. Doubly so if I said it was easy to get back up. I am so sorry for your loss, from all the little bits that you shared it sounds like the world lost a hell of a woman, and amazing human being.

Also good to hear from you as well, Krippling Lament.

Yeah, it has been quiet here. Too quiet some days. I do hope that everyone has been doing their best to keep their heads up during these trying times. I can honestly say that in spite of having never meeting any of you outside of here, you guys do mean a lot to me. I enjoy seeing updates about your successes, and sympathize when you bring up your failures. That is one of the great things about this place, the people here are real people. Please know that regardless of whatever you are experiencing, be it good or bad, if you want to share please do. As an aside, if you find yourself in a rough spot and don't know where to turn my inbox is always open and anything said to me will always be held in the strictest confidence. The only thing I can say is that I am not a licensed therapist nor am I an attorney, so any advice I might have would just be tips about things that I've learned.
