Welcome my friends to my campaign for re-election as your Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and thank you for taking the time to find out more and have a read through.Over the past 70 days, I have been your Prime Minister. Here, every single day, working for the region both domestically and overseas, in the discord, ready to talk about your problems and your ideas, answering your messages, delivering on your requests. Working with your MP's and friends on legislation, doing everything I can to lead by example.
Back in July, I stood before you and made some promises. I promised that I would serve the full term and not leave us with another early General Election. A full term of consistency. A promise that was delivered.
I promised to be a Prime Minister that listened and to have conversations about what you wanted. We went on to hold a referendum, a Government consultation and tons of meetings with you one on one. A promise that was delivered.
I promised to work with people across party lines, background or history. In Government, in Parliament, in every way. A promise that was delivered.
I promised to find our next generation of Allies and Friends overseas, building new and exciting foreign relations. A promise that was delivered.
Commitments were made to the United Kingdom and my Government has worked it's absolute hardest to deliver on each and every single one of them. This has been a Government that rewards activity, with opportunity, that has offered experience and education to the next generation of NSUK citizens. But my vision for this region, for our United Kingdom, is not just about the here and now. It was and is a long term program for sustainable and stable Governance. The first term was about steadying the ship, restoring faith both here and overseas in the Office of Prime Minister. Building confidence in Downing Street again. Now, we must continue securing that confidence, providing that stability, while turning to building our region up, creating and taking the next steps on this historic almost 17 year journey. That is why I am asking you to re-elect me as Prime Minister and to give me the opportunity to lead us forward.
To continue leading by example, working with every citizen at every level to implement creative ideas, help realise ambitions. To grow our reputation overseas and our family of foreign nations as friends and partners. To continue rewarding active and engaged citizens with opportunities to serve in the highest public offices in our land. To put region, before self interest and serve you all.
A VISION FOR GROWTH
Over the last couple of weeks, I have been thinking a lot about what we as a Government can do to increase engagement and activity, to turn the economy from a passive one to an active one, to continue to rebuild our reputation overseas, put us in a solid position to conduct diplomacy and to also try some new ideas. As I said in my interview with John Alexander and The National Chronicle earlier this week, we need to put strong focus into boosting the private sector. Government should not be here to provide and operate all activity in the United Kingdom, but to support everyone to create and to regulate where required. So we shall use this next term to do everything we can to support each and every one of you to create.
Now is a time for us all to be ambitious, embrace some new ideas and to start changing up the formula a bit if we want to see growth and improvement in our region. The policies and ideas I lay out here before you today, seek to lead that effort by example. Finally, it is important to note that these are just opening ideas. We will listen to your feedback, adapt these as we listen, drop what does not work and introduce more as we continue to study and learn from past mistakes and successes.
With this in mind, lets have a look at some of the starting points for the next two months...
Home Department
- Revamping the Citizenship onboarding process slightly, introducing a new welcoming from the Home Secretary following Admin approval where a Passport or Certificate of Citizenship is issued, an oath of citizenship is administered and a bit of Britains famous pomp and ceremony is applied to make our new citizens feel special and immediately immersed in our region.
- Introducing a new "Newcomers Natter" meeting between the Home Secretary and all new citizens arriving in the previous seven days, either in a discord group DM or on HM Government discord server, to allow new citizens to feedback to the Government about their challenges and barriers to activity, to hear about their experiences and what they think we could do better, to find out what they need help with and how we can provide that help for them and future new arrivals.
- A commitment to keep the Crown Court at 4 seats for this term following the vacancy that arose last term. Should a vacancy appear on the court now, we will seek to fill it, but I think the Court should stay at 4 judges max for the moment.
- Begin consultations with Foreign Policy experts and Legal experts into creating a "Security and Intelligence Service" of some sorts in order to collaborate on and maintain a database of intelligence that we receive from Foreign Governments and also so that we can reciprocate in an appropriate manner. To allow us to maintain security in the UK and also to insure we are better prepared in our dealings with Foreign Governments and organisations.
- Subject to the number of active citizens this term. The creation of a new "Department for Business and Housing" who will take the responsibility of monitoring and administering inactivity notices but will also look to revamp our estates system, explore the creation of a Housing Market and system for selling businesses that we would then seek to move into the private sector and also to liaise closely with business leaders on what the Government can do to support their growth in activity and employment in the region.
Foreign Office
- We will continue our work with Lazarus next term, sending a delegation for formal Treaty Negotiations which we agreed during their state visit to the United Kingdom that we hosted this term.
- We will also look at the possibility of increasing treaty partners with other existing partners and begin the process of exploring these.
- Continue with our expansion of Foreign Relations with regions aiming to establish diplomatic relationships with 4 more regions over the next term.
- Look to explore a start of rebuilding relations with historic allies and friends of the United Kingdom which have broken down over the past year, where appropriate.
- Aiming to host another state visit either with one of our new friends or an existing partner of the United Kingdom and also to organise a formal visit to another region from the Government and Head of State or as an alternative, a joint festival.
Culture Office
- Looking ahead to the dates this term will fall on, we will seek to host a Halloween Festival, A Guy Fawkes Night and also celebrations of the anniversary of our founding on Founders Day.
- We will look to create "The British Museum", a new organisation that will seek to collate and exhibit, some of the most important documents in our regional history, put on monthly special exhibits that follow a theme. For example "A History of the BBC" or "A walkthrough the constitutional conventions" or such. A place where duplicate copies of some of the most important moments in our history can be displayed without trawling the archives. A place where new citizens and old can visit to gather a scenes of the proud history we are custodians of and we can honour the best of the best in new and exciting ways.
- With a new focus for the Culture Office and to reduce workload, we will explore the possibility of privatizing the UKFL, either by selling the organisation off as a whole to a private company or by issuing a tender process to contract a management company to produce and administer the league.
- Lastly, in a focus of trying to encourage the private sector and to get our economy and activity moving, instead of the Government looking to put on weekly game nights or events on discord, we will look to contract private businesses to put on these events. If you have an idea for a social event that you can put on every week that will get people engaged and more importantly, having a good time and socialising, the Government will pay you for this and support you in putting it on.
The Treasury
- In the October Budget, we will introduce tax cuts both for Corporations and Private Citizens. Reducing Corporation Tax from 17.5% to 10% and reducing the income tax brackets from 50% to 40%, from 32.5% to 25% and from 20% to 17.5%. Putting more money into your pockets.
- We will introduce a proper system for business accounting to ensure businesses can take advantage of the Corporation Tax rate and so HM Treasury can build a solid dataset for economic review and analysis.
- We will increase the HM Government Procurement Budget from £25,000 to £100,000 over three months. Making a serious point that we want to help kick start business activity across the region and continuing to commit that if you start a business that can offer something to the Government and the region. We will be your first customer.
- A review of the Economic Grant Scheme, moving focus and rewards to areas of key importance for the region including recruitment, RP initiatives and getting more Barristers in our community.
- Look at repealing the "Banking Act (2022)" and also reforming the "Court Funding Act" to replace "Court Grants" with a Legal Aid Agency in certain circumstances and to also allow for Private Finance Companies to offer services to those in court cases.
- Introduce a BBC Licence Fee which will go to increasing funding for the BBC so that they can also become a customer to private business, have bigger budgets to produce content and also to compete with private media. But also will continue to create a real cost of living in the UK and a need to actually earn money which will take our economy from passive to immersive.
Gameside Affairs
- We will create one of the biggest Government Surveys ever, to go out to every nation in a region wide telegram to try and collect information about the 750+ nations we have and to find out why they haven't become forum citizens yet, what they want to see from the region and what we as a community can do to integrate the two separate communities more.
- Continue our consultation with active members of the RMB over the creation of a "Council of Constituent Nations", a UN style body for RP nations in the United Kingdom, based on the forum. For them to discuss their world events, negotiate treaties and other events and to have a presence in the UK.
- As part of this initiative, look at establishing more stringent rules on the personal conduct and behaviour of the RMB community. To give the community tools to report anti social, dangerous or abusive behaviour and to create a more welcoming and enjoyable place for people to take part.
- To continue our program of Telegrams constantly running to both new nations and refounded nations in an attempt to establish our nation count permanently over 800 nations and to seek to widen our place in the NationStates world.
- To publish a weekly telegram to all nations with a brief outline of events going on in the region and ways they can get more involved and become a more active and integrated part of the United Kingdom.
Downing Street
By now, many of you will know how I operate as a Prime Minister and how my office works. But, just to reiterate and to explain for those who are new to our region.
- Leading By Example: I will always be around on the Discord, the RMB and the Forum every single day, as much as I possibly can. To talk about policy, to talk about ideas, to talk about problems and issues, to talk about sport, family, friends, music or just rubbish. I promise to be an accessible Prime Minister and a friend to every single member of this community. Old or new, young or old. Whoever you are, whatever your story, whatever our story, I am always here for you. I also want the office to be more interactive with the atmosphere of the region. Want to invite the Prime Minister to an event at your business or estate? A grand opening, a summit on Foreign Policy? Whatever it is, drop me a DM and I will do everything I can to get involved with your idea and try and incorporate the office, to the atmosphere, the realism, the region.
- Rewarding Activity, with opportunity: My ethos with Government Appointments and jobs this term has been and will continue to be. If you are active in our region, on discord, on RMB, on forum, then you will be top of the list for vacant positions. For me personally, the attributes of energy, excitement and interaction are more valuable than experience or lack of it. The only way people learn is by doing, they will learn through experience and can be taught. If you are active and involved in the community, even if its just being sociable on discord, I will find a place for you and allow you to grow your career and your life in the United Kingdom wherever I can.
- Positive outlook: I am a firm believer that the best new ideas come in an environment of positivity. A space where people feel comfortable to try and fail without worry. A place where people feel able to make mistakes and try again. If you have a new idea, something that you think can benefit this community, this region and help us grow. You will always have my time and any support I can offer to make that happen if I can. My number one job here is to keep the region stable and to help you achieve what you want to achieve. Do what you want to do. As long as it isn't harming other citizens or the region. I am here to support you.
- Adaptability: Sometimes things don't work out, sometimes things go wrong, sometimes circumstances and events change things. I will always be flexible as your Prime Minister. If I spot something isn't working right, then I will always be open to changing direction and pace to achieve success. If a gain can be made by reforming an old way of working, then I will be open to making the change. If events make something unachievable or unsuccessful, we will change tact and try again. We should never look at a finished project and just walk away, it should be open to adjustment and new ideas constantly to improve. The cornerstones of my Premiership will be flexibility, openness to negotiation and the desire to achieve a path walked together, leaving nobody behind.
This menu of ideas, this starting point for our journey is not by any means the end result. It is the start of a region wide discussion about how we turn our region from one which is losing more active citizens than it is gaining, to one which is growing and becoming a thriving hub of activities, of creation, of collaboration and of good times for all people. Change is hard to accept and embrace sometimes, but we have to try new things, to evolve and to grow and survive. These ideas are the start of that. Looking at the issues we have right now and offering ways of trying to address them.
As always, we will listen, we will analyse and we will adapt over the course of the term. I am not afraid of changing course if an idea isn't working. Developing to the changing landscape as we go. This is not a set of rails for us to follow, but a sandbox for us all to explore together.
This, my friends, citizens of the United Kingdom. Is my vision for the next two months of Government. A Government that steps away from trying to do everything itself, instead creating tools and encouragement for you all to do your own thing more. To create activities and programmes that mean the most to you, to spark passion.
A Government that continues to look at growth of business, growth of Foreign Relations, growth of skills and experience for newer citizens, growth of our economy and growth of population. A Government that stands for Continuity, for Creation and for Collaboration in everything it does.
I want to serve my region, I want to make each and every one of you proud, I want to help you all dream big, aim high and achieve success. I want to devote my time to this region that I love so much, to be your ambassador to the NationStates world, to be your leader and to help every single one of you. Please, give me that opportunity and the honour of continuing as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.
