Silonian History

NOTE: A Kell is a time about 135 days in duration, refers to the passing of one Silonian year. Equivalent to 37 percent of a normal year.

Overview

This overview details the lasts several thousand years of Silonian history, giving context to significant events that have changed and lead to modern Silonian culture and society. Silonian history is divided into 2 different ages, each with numerous eras. This current calendar starts around 345 years ago at the beginning of The Age the Queen, after the end of the Sightless War, so all events that transpired before this date take place are marked with BSW(Before the Sightless War), and AGC (After the Sightless War). The timeline below will use standard Terran years for convenience's sake.

Age of the Matriarchs

Era of First Footing (5000-4000 BSW): The First Six Matriarchs appear on Vermell from a yet unknown origin, though many believe they simply evolved from other life forms on Vermell. They spread their hives rapidly across the surface, dividing the world of Vermell into Six grand Empires

Era of the First Wars (4000-2000 BSW): The Matriarchs reach the edge of their ability to expand their empire. Without the natural dampeners that restrict population production, the six empires begin to face shortages of most food and energy products caused by un-mitigated population growth. The Six Empires eventually go to war, sending un-ending waves off their workers to fight on ever-changing front lines, in equal part to seize resources from each-other while also cutting down on population

Era of the Sundering(4000-2000 BSW): As the First Wars drag on, new types of workers, know as Majors, pop up across the Six Empires. They allow for greater organization of the war fronts, being able to carry the orders of the Matriarchs. While Loyal to their Matriarchs at first, the greater individuality portrayed by the Majors and their ability to control the worker casts eventually caused large scale workers uprisings across the war-front. Many Majors secede from the Empires, forming their own kingdoms across the world of Vermell. Eventually, the Majors discover how to reproduce sexually with normal workers, allowing their nations to stay populated.

Era of the Degradation(2000-300 BSW): The Majors, in line with their own nature, attempt to institute more individualistic forms of governance across Vermell, weakening the rule of the Matriarchs while also warring with them. As time passes, many Silonians under their rule, removed from the over-reaching power of the Matriarchs, begin to show growing individualism. Each new generation shows signs of psychological evolution, free from their dependency on the Matriarchs' directions. However, by the middle of the fifth century BSW, stores of Uranium and other food-elements on Vermell begin to run out, pushing many nations to desperation in an attempt to secure the planet's last remaining veins of Radioactive elements, lest the Silonian species be pushed to live under-ground once more, feeding off the planet's thermal heat. Eventually, war is sparked between the nation's of Vermell once again.

Era of the Sightless War(300-1 BSW): In an attempt to save their kingdoms and defeat the Matriarcs, the Majors decide to detonate nuclear weapons deep in Vermell's crust to bring greater stores of uranium to the surface of Vermell from the upper mantel in massive geological events, thus giving them the upperhand against the Matriarchs' forces. However, either through error or some twisted purpose, the detonations cause nearly 40 percent of the surface of Vermell to "recycle" with massive swaths of the planet and billions of Silonians being submerged in lava seas. While successful in bringing Uranium to the surface, the explosion of volcanos across Vermell killed over half of all life on the planet while also blocking the skies of the already minimal light that made it through Vermell's thick atmosphere. Thus the Sightless War began. One of the Matriarchs, Ithase of the Ix Empire, uses the Chaos to lead a great crusade across Vermell, uniting the remaining nations into a singular empire over the course of the next three centuries while also leading a genocide against the free-thinking clades within the Majors' Kingdoms. Wanting to prevent future war, Ithase’ix united the other five Matriarchs into the first Court of Queens, allowing them to continue their rule over their respective empire, but also uniting Vermell. Quickly, a monarchic-technocratic form of government was established, placing extreme value on reason and logic. As the volcanic ash settled across Vermell, the Silonians are greeted by a new sky; through the thick fog of sulfur that once obscured their view, stars are first seen. This spurs Court of Queens to declare a new great crusade, where the Silonians dedicated themselves to expanding their species to the worlds beyond their own.

Age of the Queens

Era of the Burgeoning(1-345 ASW): With the Stars finally visible to the people of Vermell, great colonization ships were sent to the world's beyond to expand Silonian civilization. Over the course of the next 350 years, the Silonians expand across their star-system, before sending their first colonists beyond the light of their star. Realizing the need to maintain their control beyond Vermell, the queens create the Matriarchs; lesser versions of themselves to rule over the star systems beyond Varel. Now the Silonians rule over a vast interstellar empire, having grown past the confines of their homeworld. The Court of Queens still rules, dictating the fate of Silonian Civilization through their Matriarchs and the Majors bellow them.
