Special Edition | Issue 15.2| October 12 2017 | Newsletter Editor: Dardona |

A nice cup of tea is on the table and the autumn wind is blowing by the window. Good evening everyone! It’s your host Dardona coming with Brad, Tiku, and the newest candidates that declared his status unexpectedly and surprisingly, Miriliarith.

Four days ago, GRO posted on the RMB about the delegate declaration period that it had officially begun and it’s going to end on 15 October, 2017 and that’s when the Election Day starts!

The Observer strongly urges all Yggdrasil's member nations to take part in the election. The region’s democratic future depends on your votes since voting is one of the keystone principles of democracy.

As days go by, the Election Day is getting closer and it seems that both candidates are busy preparing their campaign. So in this edition, you can expect the general ideas on one’s policies. I’m sure you’ll enjoy this and don’t forget to stay tuned because the special editions can be published whenever and wherever. Please look forward to it!

Dardona – Greeting and salute my dear friends of Yggdrasil! Today, before we get into the policies of each candidate, let’s welcome our newest candidate here. Miriliarith, thank you for joining us!

Miriliarith – Thank you for inviting me.

D - Okay now first up, how long have you been in NS?

M - I have been in NS for roughly around two years.

D – Two years, that’s a year less than Brad and a year more than Tiku. And what brought you to the game?

M - What brought me to the game......was. Well interesting .....because I was searching for Panzer Fahren because it was interesting and I like GuP a lot. I came up on a wikia that told as it were a real sport, so i kinda believed it and looked who were participating. One nation led to another I came upon NationStates.

D - Well said. So since you have been playing NationStates, what made you join Yggdrasil?

M - As the little small nation I was very new, very big eyed getting the flood of telegrams yeh that was fun. Then from reading all of the tele's I got, it was GRO's telegram that for some reason made me feel fuzzy and warm in the inside. Because of that, I made my decision to join Yggdrasil.

D - So you joined at the very first sight?

M - Yep!

D - Cool! Those nations are hard to find. GRO will be very pleased to find out that his recruitment telegram works! Could you tell us about yourself?

M - Ok....a brief description of myself I am a 16 year old male who is currently in high school enjoying games like NS and Kancolle, and nice warm food that keeps me cozy, I also like to RP as well.

D - Really? What kind of RP

M - Well any sort (but not the type where it gets......touchy touchy ya know what I'm saying) wether it be a dungeon master to a small band of raiders or a nation's official keeping foreign relations as good as possible so that a nuclear war doesn't break out.

D - Yep, I understood and is that why you stood for that interregional Olympic committee member?

M - .......well yep

D - So what is your nation's name, both Miriliarith and Koroboshiv came from?

M - Miriliarith came out of nowhere actually, I was thinking hey I want a nation where it looks good and great but in truth was a complete lie, so the word liar got stuck in my head and eventually the name was formed. Everyone forgets the middle child.
Koroboshiv on the other hand came out from a meme my friends kept going on screaming KoroKoroKoroKoro then it popped up with a horrible Russian accent, I decided to make a nation out of that meme for lulz and the personality of Koro should always be loud, cute, and annoying
THOUGH IT DOESNT MEAN IM REALLY A LIAR

D - I knew it! Koro is a Russian.

M - Da.......memes

D - Okay, in term of candidacy, why do you think voters should vote you?

M - Because I am new! (This is a really horrible way of telling people to vote for me). Ok on a serious note well it's because I'm generally active, I want to try and encourage activeness across the region (with events and the similar liking with role play) or if not keep the people's peace and quiet (also I can flourish the region with dank memes and anime art).

D - Can you specify the events and role plays? What you're going to do?

M - Nation of the month! Was something I desired to see as an event something that would be meaningful for the census reports that no one really cared about, Who can make the best / worst pun.....small events that could be meaningful.......role play....*ya know what DnD sessions if anybody wants to go for it *

D - Cool, so the region will be active under your delegacy.

M - Well hopefully

D - Alrighty, how about foreign policy?

M - OPEN DOORS - oh wait in a sense that is bad. Foreign policy would be easily simplified to "be nice to those who are nice to you and always question those who are nice".

D - Simple yet meaningful.

D - So considering the position of delegate, why do you want to run up for candidate, Brad?

Brad - It was just a split-second decision I made. I haven't held the position of Chancellor of Yggdrasil yet, I was delegate of Valhalla though at one point. As a Senator I was intent on being one, as with running as delegate, I'd like to be one, but I'm thrusting myself out there, I'm not 100% on my plans as of yet.

D - You have gotten no plan in particular yet?

B - Not as of yet, it will be relayed much more clearly in that factbook. What I can tell you is that we need to review our current alliances.

D - In a way yes, I am more focused on agreements we made with regions we don't share embassies with, as well as regions that have embassies with regions we have embassies with, but don't have one with us. Basically, We're A, our ally is B, and another third party region is C. We need to review our alliances between A and B, as well as agreements between A and B, and B & C. A comprehensive look at first and third party agreements / alliances. I cannot disclose any comprehensive details in what I am looking for now however.

D - Interesting point, do you have any other general policies to share?

B - Not at this time as I believe our alliances will be vital, and not just for Yggdrasil but that of the Realm, including Valhalla.

D – Okay, it’ll all be in your factbook I suppose. So everybody, looks forward to it!. Now Tiku, I hope you can share our ideas with us. Is it the same thoughts when you ran up for senator?

Tiku - Well similar thoughts yes. See in my personal opinion Yggdrasil doesn’t have any ‘flaws’ so much as some ‘imperfections’. Or to put it another way, As far as regions go, Yggdrasil doesn’t need anything ‘fixed’. Only certain improvements. One of the points I will advocate as Delegate is a point brought up by some prominent nations that I spoke to. Over time we’ve had certain nations such as Nationhelper, New Fiera etc. come into the region with not the purest intentions. I am going to explore the possibility of perhaps setting up a Citizenship program or a minimum requirements policy, working with GRO and the other prominent nations working to create a fix that will be right for Yggdrasil. Other than this, I would also like to speak to nations throughout Yggdrasil and seek what other imperfections can be fixed. Yggdrasil as I’ve stated before needs to be ‘maintained’ and not exactly ‘fixed’. I would therefore in addition to the above, seek to maintain Yggdrasil’s excellent relations with other regions and nations and perhaps foster an even greater cross RMB communication with our allies. I will of course be on guard to fix any and all problems if they appear in the future.

D - True, that's a very good point. To improve not to fix and fix some point if necessary.

T - Yes. That is the goal. To Maintain and Improve

D - So that's the main goal of your delegacy and do you have the specific point to improve the region?

T - Yes to recommend and explore a citizenship program. In addition to increasing cross regional RMB communications with existing allies and to ensure our region gets out there on a global stage as we currently need the fresh meat (new recruits). I would prefer our nation count to be north of 350.

D - Yeah, our region really needs to be on the world stage and climb to a high number of members. And Miri, Are you looking forward to recruiting new members?

M - Lemme see the numbers.....277 peps well yes but not too much well I would like to see the region's average nations be around 300-350 nations.

D - Yes, Yggdrasil population peak was 500.

M - Woah 0.0

D – Now back to Tiku, How are you going to manage the foreign affairs to assure that goal?

T - Ah an interesting challenge really. I am of the opinion that Imperium Germania (Brad) has done a fantastic job as Foreign Minister. What I might do differently perhaps is on one hand to ensure a more aggressive recruitment drive through the feeders, while on the other hand increase our RMB participation within our allies. This of course is a broad outline and I will change and adapt my Foreign Policy as per the environment through my tenure, while maintaining at my core my intention to increase recruitment, improve communications and increase a level of friendliness within our allies.

D - Sounds good, being proactive on recruiting nations will surely bring us a prolific number of nations. Besides encouraging them to come here, you need to certify them that our region is worth their stay. And that means the Interior Affairs. What do you think your policy on this affair will be?

T - An excellent point. Our interior affairs I believe are in the top 1% of the NS world. We have a cultivated Forum, an active Discord meme exchange, Daily Comics and a somewhat active Roleplay. Here what we can improve perhaps are 2 key points: 1. An improved roleplay. Personally I’m not a fan of RP but I do place value on it. It’s certainly something a large region of NS are really interested in and so under my Delegacy I will seek to identify nations that are particularly interested in RP and work with them to see how we can encourage them to be more active. An active RP will help us retain and attract new nations. My other key point, would be to encourage political parties and political debates. Not IRL politics but NS politics. We currently have 2 political parties YggSP and TUP
Of which only the YggSP are ‘truly’ active. I would like to form my own Political Party after the elections and also encourage other nations to create parties of their own! We can certainly energise and encourage healthy political debate within our region.
While I don’t like to repeat points but the Citizenship program which will be a refining of rules, such as minimum stay, minimum number of RMB posts, etc. will help us sort travelers passing by to permanent residents of our regions. These requirements will be fine-tuned as I have stated and will form a core part of my internal policy agenda.

D – How about your policy on culture and communication, Miri?

M - Diversify! Cross regional communication! But to those who want it though....I wouldn't want to force people into trying communicating with other regions if they don't want to.

D - Hmm, are you thinking of cross regional forum?

M - In a sense. But we have that. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm. But Ye

D - Oki should you get more ambassador and promote cross regional events?

M - Well not more ambassadors but to consolidate and strengthen relations with already existing ties to other regions! Then promote cross regional events!

D - Okay cool.

M - Well as a start

D - Fascinating! So under your delegacy, a lot of activities and creative energies will advance. Tiku, How about cultural and communication topics? Do you have any plan for the polls or any spectacular events or awards?

T - Yes! I hope to be able to install quite a few changes in Internal Policy. With regard to cultural and communication topics, I’m glad you asked because I wanted to begin a Bi-Annual Yggdrasilian awards ceremony. Something on the lines of, “Best RMB comment”, “Best new flag”, “Most Kawaii banners”, Most annoying nation on the RMB”, and several other such positions. My idea was that these awards can be distributed based on popular votes, once every 6 months. It will require some fine tuning but I see great potential in the idea! These awards can be passive aggressive and therefore be a fun way to let out some steam. I am aware that Yggdrasil has had some of these awards such as cutest flag, etc. based on the RMB but I want to create a proper forum section and properly documented and revised set of awards. As for communication policy, to be perfectly honest with you, I haven’t given that any thought. I believe that between the 3 modes: RMB, Forum and Discord, we are perfectly equipped on that front. However, I will continue adding polls as I already do, as I believe they are an excellent way to learn more about our fellow Yggdrasilians.

D - Bold ideas! I think that many members here would love to have that sort of events too. Now let's move to this topic in which many nations are interested, the YDS. Any policies on our non-raiding defense force?

T - Ah the YDS! I’ve been an active member of the YDS since I joined Yggdrasil I believe! No as far as the YDS is concerned, I think it’s in the very adequate hands of our fearless commander Wordy. The YDS is a reactionary body and not a proactive one. In that regard, the less we are forced to assemble the YDS the better. So my policy on YDS will be to ensure it continues the way it is.

D - Yeah "Yggdrasil is Switzerland of NationStates", one of our unofficial motto. And you, Miri?

M - YDS is meant as a neutral unit that defends the region and those that are close to the region, not meant as an international defenders region nor raider. And I intend to keep it that way.

D - That's the very first intention of YDS, isn't it. And Wordy is doing a great job too. So, last but not least, do you have anything else to say to our dear member states?

M - To those who are excited to vote, vote for those who are deemed worthy by you.....i maybe new but I would like your support for me to be the delegate!! Happy hunting!

B - Despite what seems to be increasingly shrinking numbers in regional population, as well as a lack of updates from some of our allies, the regions safety is the utmost importance. And I believe that our alliances, following a comprehensive review, will lead to greater regional acknowledgement alongside our allies and those to-be.

T - Lastly I would like to encourage the nations of Yggdrasil to vote for me, because I embody The Future, the next step forward, taking our proud region into the future. I would like to bring in certain new changes, perhaps revive some old topics and eventually improvise and adapt for the future that we are all lovingly moving towards

D - Thank you very much Brad, Miriliarith, Tiku for joining this interview. Good Luck on the election!

B - Thank you for having me.

M - Thank you for this time Dardona.

T - Thank you Dardona! It was a pleasure being interviewed and before I go I would just like to say that I think you’re doing an excellent job with the Observer! I look forward to every new edition and I’m happy that the Observer is in safe hands

D - Thank you very much three of you! Everybody, I hope you enjoy it. Please look forward to the election!

Tiku

The Geniocracy of Tiku is a massive, efficient nation, ruled by Panditji with a fair hand, and renowned for its anti-smoking policies, smutty television, and free-roaming dinosaurs. The compassionate, hard-working, democratic population of 2.575 billion Tikuans enjoy a sensible mix of personal and economic freedoms, while the political process is open and the people's right to vote held sacrosanct.

The medium-sized, outspoken government prioritizes Education, although Environment, Healthcare, and Public Transport are also considered important, while Spirituality receives no funds. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Kashmir. The average income tax rate is 75.9%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The frighteningly efficient Tikuan economy, worth 495 trillion Values a year, is fairly diversified and led by the Information Technology industry, with major contributions from Tourism, Book Publishing, and Beef-Based Agriculture. Average income is an impressive 192,399 Values, and evenly distributed, with the richest citizens earning only 2.1 times as much as the poorest.

Super Barry Brothers is the most popular video game in the nation, the government has an entire department dedicated to staring at microscopes and writing down letters, major internet servers have acquired citizenship, and human tissue is grown in vats as a delicacy as well as for transplants. Crime is totally unknown. Tiku's national animal is the Phoenix, which soars majestically through the nation's famously clear skies.

Imperium germania

The Free Land of Imperium Germania is a massive, safe nation, notable for its museums and concert halls, daily referendums, and keen interest in outer space. The hard-nosed, hard-working, democratic population of 1.078 billion Germans enjoy a sensible mix of personal and economic freedoms, while the political process is open and the people's right to vote held sacrosanct.

The relatively small, outspoken government juggles the competing demands of Defense, Education, and Healthcare. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Rohrfeld. Citizens pay a flat income tax of 15.0%.

The powerhouse German economy, worth 115 trillion Universal Standard Dollars a year, is broadly diversified and led by the Information Technology industry, with major contributions from Tourism, Arms Manufacturing, and Book Publishing. Average income is an impressive 107,554 Universal Standard Dollars, with the richest citizens earning 6.9 times as much as the poorest.

Foreigners with shady pasts are fleeing the country, anti-government web sites are springing up, counselors have to sign pledges supporting gay rights before they can speak to any patients, and the government is promoting multicultural values with the new 'Just Be Nice, OK?' initiative. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown. Imperium Germania's national animal is the Two-Headed Black Eagle, which is also the nation's favorite main course.

Miriliarith

The Imperial Rule of Miriliarith is a massive, cultured nation, ruled by Queen Agita Haltz with an even hand, and notable for its rum-swilling pirates, keen interest in outer space, and multi-spousal wedding ceremonies. The compassionate, hard-working, democratic population of 4.589 billion mirithians have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

The medium-sized government juggles the competing demands of Industry, Education, and Defense. It meets to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Savesta. The average income tax rate is 36.4%, but much higher for the wealthy.

The frighteningly efficient Miriliarithian economy, worth 659 trillion Liar Marks a year, is led by the Tourism industry, with significant contributions from Information Technology, Book Publishing, and Retail. Average income is an impressive 143,812 Liar Marks, and evenly distributed, with the richest citizens earning only 2.4 times as much as the poorest.

Depression sinks in after each election when voters realize they are stuck with these people for years, government policy is dictated by The way of the Wolf, teenage TV characters are played by thirty-year-olds by the end of the second season, and scientists spend more time enduring government inspections than they do on actual science. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown. Miriliarith's national animal is the mammoth wolf, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its national religion is The way of the Wolf.
