This resolution creates a framework for fighting currency counterfeiting at an international level. As international cooperation can considerably increase the effectiveness of counterfeiting measures, we believe that this area does warrant World Assembly legislation.
The proposal, in addition to prohibiting counterfeiting in member nations, takes measures to protect nations from counterfeit currency made in other nations. Furthermore, through the World Assembly Numismatics Authority, it assists nations in increasing their currency security and the effectiveness of their own services countering counterfeiting operations. Finally, the proposal takes adequate care to permit the use of counterfeit operations as a valuable tool of warfare at times of war.
For all these reasons, we recommend a vote in support of this resolution.
