NEW FUNDING FOR ELECTRONIC SURVEILLANCE
The Government has announced a new funding package for its Electronic Surveillance and Monitoring Centre at Overvakning. The increase in funding has been necessary following the decision to extend CCTV monitoring to the whole of Fredrikastad by the end of 2016 and to all major towns by 2019. The Overvakning facility is run by the Bureau of Public Safety and Security, an executive agency of the National Police Service.Speaking at a press conference at National Police Headquarters in Fredrikastad earlier today, Ms Ulla Frisk, Director General of the Security Bureau said " Women account for 67% of our population. The extension of CCTV monitoring is all about safeguarding women and I heartily welcome the Government's decision"
